Against the Ghouls
Stella nods as Kiara finishes. "As a group, it's important to watch each other's backs. Lone wolf or selfish actions tend to get people killed quickly. Work to your strengths and minimize your weaknesses. Mantle, soften up groups so the front line can one hit them. Borhorgen is our center, Kiara is the away team, don't let yourself get surrounded, but look for leaders alone. Rowan is the opportunist and the second line of defense, try to protect us casters please. Nic, take out the weak that the fighters didn't finish, keeps one more attack from hitting the front line. I will be working triage, keeping our front line rolling. I can remove paralysis a couple of times, Kiara hold that potion back for me if possible. things could get sticky if I go down. All of us, try to concentrate on one before moving on, don't spread your attacks out unless you have backup to finish the first off. This may all sound elementary, but you'd be surprised how many dead groups didn't practice these simple tactics. As always, if you see any improvements or glaring loopholes, speak up. The best plans last right up until the first contact." Having given her tactical speech, Stella fidgets for a moment and you realize she's uncomfortable with what she's about to say.
"What I'm about to tell you needs to be kept in the strictest confidence, lives depend on it. There is a reason I'm here and not out making a vast fortune running the stars." She stops and collects her thoughts. "Let me start closer to the beginning, Space is vast, and many different peoples live between the stars. The largest and most powerful fleet is the Elven nation. The company I am part of works for them on occasion, which makes our trading opportunities more lucrative. Recently, we've been receiving more contracts that have made us question the status quo. The Elves are disciplined, understand that, and their ships are the terror of the skies. Recently we've sensed an undertone of unease, bordering on fear from the contacts we have. The nature of the requests have changed, from exploration or pest removal, to the acquisition of advanced weapons, especially types based on smokepowder. You may not know this, but Mantle and I are originally from a planet with the capability of producing high-grade smokepowder in large quantities. Our family is intricately involved in this most lucrative trade and this is one reason why our company was originally chosen for these delicate appropriations. Because of our intimate and highly classified knowledge of what the Elven fleet are requisitioning, we have reached the conclusion that war is coming to space. Stella looks around to see how you are all taking this revelation, "When I say war, I mean on a very large scale, world-spanning, and civilization threatening type war. Perhaps it will never be something that reaches this world you live on, but I wouldn't count on it. My primary objective here has been to commission magical, clockwork cannon, which is for our personal use, not for the Elves." She nods to Bohrhorgen, "Your Uncle Dugan is truly a unique craftsman, his forges are renowned far and wide." Once again, she looks out of the carriage, obviously seeing some sort of landmark, she knocks on the side of the coach. It starts to slow down and you all gather any gear in preparation of disembarking. After everyone is out and the coach is heading back to town, you see a small trail leading away from the main road towards the north.
