Just some clarifying questions: does this happen before or after that whole mess I declared? Am I hidden? If I am, do I get a surprise round?

Launching himself into the sky, Manta Man says, "I'll handle Laserfire. If that's like the real Evergreen, be careful. She's often underestimated."
As he gets a little higher he shouts, "C'MON KID, PROVE TO ME YOUR WORTH IT."
Laserfire bristles, so there must be some history behind the phrase.

"So am I" answers the reporter. Darryl tries to spot the old man among the shadows prior to engaging 'Evergreen'.

There is a distant roar of ATV's, apparently there will be more personnel arriving soon.

Darryl points at the roof. "The old man's a spellcaster. Someone hit him quick and ruin his incantation." He pulls out a .357 magnum in case one of the heroes fails to stop the old man.

A pool of shadow forms at one side of the clearing. Free Bird, Shade, Knockout, and Shadow Strike emerge from the shadow.

After standing, for just a moment, and surveying the scene, Knockout says, "There are more security men out there, I'll disrupt them."
Then she gathers herself into a sprinter's stance, and launches herself away through the trees. Paying no heed to anyone around her, she reaches almost fifty miles per hour before she is lost to sight.

In reply to Knockout (msg # 46):

Shade looks like he was about to say something, although his only facical feature was a set of glowing yes. Instead of stopping Knockout, he uses his ability to project his senses through shadow. He needs to find out what is going on.

As Shade's mental query brings numerous responses, the chaos around the empty house increases. Whatever the old man on the roof did has suddenly increased the number of people on the roof. Not only that, but some guy in a multi-colored costume flies straight up from the roof in pursuit of Manta Man and the ersatz Laserfire.

With all the heroes ignoring his warning, Darryl takes aim with his magnum, hoping to ruin the spellcasting.

As Darryl Starre aims at the old man on the roof, who can barely be seen, and fires, something that can only be described as a robotic ninja steps into the path of the shot. The bullet clangs off the roboninja's head as the old man hisses something about 'idiot machines'.

ooc takpac being the abbreviation for a tactical Nuclear device of some small yielding atomic nature.  Well in Gammaworld it is... Hmm I wonder what my friends from there are doing.

Shade teleports himself among the trees. So he can see the ATV's and more importantly the various security robots. Once they start moving to attack his friends, he can create darkness in the entire area so they robots will hopefully be hampered. Then he can start taking them down as needed.

OOC-teleporring to treeline to stay concealed. Reading an action for when the robots attack, and will use my change environment power to disrupt thier vision.

Still not sure precisely what's going on, but understanding the "break everything that moves" mentality of the others, Free Bird takes to the air....

The empty frame of a house, obviously some sort of decoy, becomes a chaotic scene as the island's defenders converge. Several of the heroes and villains take to the air. A buzzing sound, familiar to some, increases in volume as bug man known as Cicada zeroes in on Manta Man, founding member of the Crusaders. When the creature strikes him, Manta Man tumbles over fifty feet back through the air. Fortunately he doesn't hit anything.
Two of the multi-colored character known as Phantasm take to the air from the roof of the house. As one of the two points, unerringly, at the living darkness known as Shade the other flies towards Free Bird. A large boulder, shimmering a bit to suggest it's not quite real, appears in the air above Shade and drops on the hero. A beam of what looks exactly like the shimmering substance of the boulder flies from the second Phantasm's hands and narrowly misses Free Bird.

OOC: I'm going to use Hero Combat Manager to handle some of the rolling and most of the record keeping for this epic battle. I'll get a map up, soon, but wanted to get this started before apathy set in (sorry this was so slow).
The result of these attacks were that Manta Man took a fair hit, and Shade was hit by the holographic boulder to the tune of five STUN after defenses. Free Bird, Shade, Drifter, Truesilver, and Shadow Strike can all make their moves, now.

There are numerous targets, so if you want to hit something just say what and we'll deal with it.

OOC-can I set up the change enviorment I suggested when I first described my actions? I see most of the PCs are away from me expect for Shadow Strike. i figure i can seriously weaken the vision of many foes in a large area. Shadow Strike might wanna rejoin the others, assuming he does not have his own special senses to bypass my effect.

Almost sardonically, Shadow Strike shakes his head at Shade and says, "armed assailants advancing through forest terrain towards a protected building is right in my wheelhouse. I trained for this. I'll start about a hundred meters northwest and move to my right, facing the perimeter. Let's try not to hit each other by mistake."
He starts to walk in the direction he indicated, and vanishes after taking two steps.

I'm not sure the scale on the map is as apparent as it needs to be. I've added a legend to the map, and an indicator of the extent of Shade's darkness. To clarify, the letters and numbers used to indicate people involved are, technically, about 18m tall.
