The Boar Hat (OOC)

It's kind of embarrassing how bad I am at concocting names.

High Elf Artillerist Artificier with blonde hair, green eyes, a very intellectual and scholarly sort of attitude but also the drive to really put all that knowledge to practical use. I've managed to name her familiar, her family, and even her essence cannon, but I can't settle on her name. XD...

The Boar Hat (OOC)

I think for the most part I'm done with character creation.  I will look it over again tomorrow night with fresh eyes to make sure I'm not forgetting anything and maybe to flesh out the history a bit more.

The Boar Hat (OOC)

Nice. 750 GP. Suitable for a young noble elf.  (Now I'm curious if I can have already crafted some common/uncommon magic items pre-game with some of that...)

I don't want to risk rolling less than my 34 pb scores, and since I don't know if the option to default to those is on the table, I'll stick to the PB.

How do we calculate HP?
1) Max
2) Max at 1st, then roll the rest
3) Max at 1st, then average
4) Max at 1st, then average +1

The Boar Hat (OOC)

Also a worthy question.

As of right now, I'm thinking I will be taking Magic Initiate and Observant to round out my Intelligence to 18, with plans to bump Int to 20 at level 8, and then 12/16/19  I'm thinking I'll take whichever of the feats from this list seem appealing to me at the time:

Resilient (Wisdom), Skill Expert (Acrobatics, Athletics, or Persuasion?), Lucky, Spell Sniper, Warcaster (I want to be at range generally, though), Fighting Initiate (can give some AC), Elemental Adept: Fire

Heads up, I'll be at my sister's most of today (today being'after I get up, because it's 3 AM currently :D)

Also, @ our Twilight Cleric (Such a cool class, and I love that art too) - you wanting to take Guidance to drop the blessing of the gods? I was going to grab it with the flavor of being all smart and calculating some choice advice to offer, but there's room to collaborate (or just do whatever and we can use our 'trade out cantrips on level ups' if we're stepping on toes :D hehe. Should be fine.

The Boar Hat (OOC)

Hi all!

Amarantha's another noble, who moonlights as a mysterious and reckless masked heroine known as  the Moonblade.

She's a surprisingly dexterous Warlock who fights with a pact rapier and Armor of Shadows. She's almost always running Mask of Many Faces, either as a disguise... or simply to wear a really fancy outfit :)

Her free feat is Resilient (Dexterity).

Sounds like a worthy thing to make a dark pact for :3 She certainly sounds fun (and somehow I can see Clair having a passing curiosity about her, depending on how much is known about this masked heroine :3 )

We noble girls who find the nobility sometimes stifling maybe should get along. :D (Slowly filling ideas out on my sheet, but i'll probably be off to bed shortly)

The Boar Hat (OOC)

Hello everyone!

Rheanna West is a half-elven librarian who had to leave her job due to Unfortunate Circumstances and became a fighter (battlemaster).

I'm still working on the details, but her skills will probably be pretty scholarly. I'm not yet sure about the feat.

(Can anyone with more experience with 5e tell me if Defensive Duelist is as good as it sounds? Because it sounds really good to me. But I also want to take Martial Adept for the extra maneuvers.)

The Boar Hat (OOC)

Hello all. Crazy oldman Druid here. I think I can help our Cleric with some of the great Druid healing spells like goodberry etc perhaps we can even program the robo-familiar to deliver them?

XD

Will be using wildshapes to help soak up damage but pretty easy to hit at this stage (but better that attack go to a wildshape than a PC).

I settled on the Warcaster feat (to help Dagda maintain concentration on spells) for his Variant Human fear and Healer as the Free Campaign feat. Healer allows Dagda to expend a use of the healing kit (of 10) and heal 1d6+4(+an addition 5 for character level).

Dagda focused on Animal Handling, Athletics, Medicine, Nature and Survival.

The Boar Hat (OOC)

In reply to Rheanna (msg # 20):

It can save you from one hit per turn, at the cost of your reaction (Meaning, no use of, say, Sentinel feat, or the Riposte  Maneuver, ect. It eats your reaction,  - but it can be useful.

Also, dunno if we were involved in the same organization or not, but we may have contacts?

Off to my sister's now, though.

The Boar Hat (OOC)

In reply to Flarelord (msg # 23):

Thanks! Though I'm actually leaning towards Skill Expert or Skilled now -- all my class features are already combat-related, so I'd rather spend the feat on something else after all.

Rheanna wasn't really part of an organization, more like one of the last few caretakers of a dusty old mausoleum in the middle of nowhere. But yes, it makes sense that we would know some of the same people. (If only through written correspondence. Before the Bad Thing happened, Rheanna didn't really get out much.)

The Boar Hat (OOC)

Hello, all!

Ice storm has the power out since yesterday...so if I don't reply for the next day or so, I'm busy not freezing to death. :p

I'm playing a Hithari barbarian inspired by classic swords and sorcery cliches, but hopefully with a bit of a twist.

I'm new to pbp, 5e, and first time NOT gm'ing! So feel to yell at me for doing it wrong, lol.

Looking forward to it!

Halgor the Hithari is geared towards brawling and grappling, and his Enchanted Buckler is something of a local legend.

More notable though, in Halgor's estimation anyway, is his great skill at campfire cooking, and he will gladly handle the group's cooking in the field, if no one objects.

The Boar Hat (OOC)

Oh. Interesting :D

At the very least, we're both in the academic fields so we may have some shared footing that way.
I'm imagining Claira as more of a sort of 'academy student' who has been taken under the wing of a skilled, possibly indiana jones style professor who's imparted the passion of field work (though she doesn't have a lot of experience yet), and her particular skillset and interest is ancient technology that she's been able to recover and reactivate and operate. (Her artifice is a mix of ancient technology recovered and current tech developed, often mixing principles between the two) Still waiting for some feedback on if that actually has its own language associated with it, which she'll grab via background if needed.

Also, I'm still yet to finalize a lot of things like all the tool proficiencies she has (via Tasha's, she's actually trading a lot of elven weapon proficiency for that sort of thing...)

Also, hey, Halgor :D

Cantrips are such intimate magic that it totally makes sense if we both might have the same cantrip-particularly Guidance because it is so useful!

I think the interesting advice best speculation of how an artificer might use Guidance is worth taking the cantrip for the roleplaying possibilities alone!

Looks like a great feat. I was thinking of perhaps the Magic Initiate Fear so that your character to have (one use) of the shield spell, but Defensive Duelist seems to be more broadly applicable.

The Boar Hat (OOC)

If you aren't using your reaction for anything else, go for it. Shield is a great spell, in a pinch. Magic initiate still a great feat.

Vee, I think that's a great idea. I love the idea of using the guidance cantrip that way.

I'm still thinking about my infusion options. I definitely am taking the bag of holding, but I'm not sure about the other options available at this level. I will probably be turning some of these into higher-level infusions as I level up with the ability to trade them out when I level. It is worth noting that I can give infused items to other people and they can attune them if they require Attunement and use them like normal magic items. Still if we're using costs as depicted in the expanded background activities in xanathar's guide it won't be too expensive to make common and uncommon magic items especially once I reach level 10.

Re: The Boar Hat (OOC)

Thanks, Ve and Flarelord! I think I'll go with Skilled or Skill Expert after all, and see how things work out in practice. Since fighters can get another feat at level 6, I'll have another chance to think about Defensive Duelist then.

No Magic Initiate for Rheanna, though. I like the idea of her having to get by with only her wits and her skills. And she has personal reasons for not wanting to have anything to do with magic.

Didn't Miss it Amos. Just been at work. Home now.

For HP. Max at first and then roll the rest. If you get less than average on your roll then take the average.

I'm not great at maps but I'll be trying to post a bit of a grid map for combat. If anyone has a template for one I'd be happy to try it.

I'll be getting to your PMs as I'm able and your d100 rolls as well.

I also have the House rules still to post.

The Cast:
Halgor (Barbarian)
Sin Aburame (Ranger Swarmkeeper)
Amos Jones (Cleric/ Diviner)
Flarelord-- (name coming) (Artificer)

Vehemence (Twilight Cleric)
