Re: Strange Magick

Elisar moved swiftly to get out of range of Rogg’s mighty club; he feared one good hit would remove his beautiful head from his body. As he moved he quickly cast an enchantment on the ogre. “Tine na siĆ³g, las mo namhaid, cuir air ag taitneamh.” Suddenly a shimmer of violet light surrounded Rogg. As he completed the spell he whipped a dart from his bandolier and prepared to hurl it at the beast, and shouted at Malkus, “Malkus, forgive my naive foolishness, may your God guide your blade this day!”

Re: Strange Magick

Hearing the bellows of Rogg as the spell wears off, Malkus looks back at the brute while unsheathing his sword. He seeks Helm's aid against this robber of the weak, and in response his greatsword seems to glow with internal, righteous fury.

"Fear not, Elisar, for he always does." One this last word, his sword seems to him and vibrate with increased energy. Weapon at the ready, he pivots on his rear foot, swinging his sword wide and then pulling it sharply towards Rogg's toothy mouth.

Cast Wrathful Smite

06:01, Today: Malkus rolled 13,14,1 using 2d6+3,2d8,1d6 ((4,6,8,6,1)). Slashing / Radiant / Psychic damage.

Rogg needs to succeed in a DC 14 WIS save or he is frightened for 1 minute.

Re: Strange Magick

Izayah Hamadrell drew both of his swords as quick as a flash then went to attempt to strike the giant. Izayah Hamadrell stabs at Rogg with multiple strikes, but only one pierces through. Rogg roars in anger.
Izayah Hamadrell attacks and hits Rogg for 5 damage.

Enialis Siannodel points a finger at the giant and three darts go forth from his hand. They each hit Rogg one right after the other frustrating the giant further.
Enialis Siannodel casts Magic Missile and deals a total of 10 damage to Rogg.

Elisar Moonraven hurried away from the giant he had tried to trick. As he moved away Elisar Moonraven cast a spell at Rogg. Light flutters from Elisar Moonraven's hand, but as it reached Rogg the light dissipated.
Elisar Moonraven attempted to cast Fairy Fire at Rogg, but the giant made his save.

From atop his broomstick, Alban releases three darts of his own at the ogre each hitting their mark precisely.
Alban casts Magic Missile and deals a total of 12 damage to Rogg.

Malkus turns around already clutching his sword and slashes at Rogg finding his mark easily.
Malkus attacks Rogg and deals a total of 28 damage at the ogre.

Round 2

All could see the ogre was getting weak as it was now bent over breathing heavily and cut all over, but this wasn't over yet. Wightvane with a mighty thrust of his spear was the one to finally put down this 'robber of the weak'. The spear run the giant clean through and at last the ogre fell to his knees then the ground.
Wightvane attacked casting Booming Blade and dealt a total of 15 damage to the giant.

With that final blow the battle was over, for now at least for this foe was certainly not going to be getting back to its feet any time soon. He lay now on the ground lifeless.
Battle is over. Well done guys! You each get 75xp.

Re: Strange Magick

As the giant fell, the magical curse that had bonded into the its body was absorbed back into Wightvane's own, sealing the minor wound he'd still carried. "Well, I must say, that was easier than expected. Either he was a young one, or together we're even stronger than I expected. Well done, everyone."

Wightvane then took a look through the giant's possessions, if he had any, for things he may have taken from other travelers.

Re: Strange Magick

Elisar walked slowly over to the fallen ogre. “Damn you, Rogg.” he muttered quietly. “You stubborn fool, got yourself killed.” He seemed sad that the ogre was dead, though whether it was remorse, mourning the loss of a friend or cursing a missed opportunity, who could say. Maybe a bit of all three.

As Wightvane searched the body he tried to cheer himself up a bit. “At least he died quickly. Is anyone hurt?” If anyone was injured Elisar will offer his healing powers.

He turned to Izayah. “Now, he mentioned his den was only a few hours from here. Do you think you can find it? Might find a bit more than a fistful of coppers there.”

"Fourteen coppers, huh? And he was willing to risk it all for one more. Looks like he bit off more than the hand that fed him."

After carefully wiping down his sword to remove any residue from Rogg, Malkus nods his head in agreement with Elisar.

"I'd be surprised if he has much, but he may have stolen something interesting."

Re: Strange Magick

Izayah went over to make sure his sister was okay while the others 'rolled' the corpse formerly known as Rogg. "You okay?" He flashed her a grin. "That was fast, an' you lit out quick like lightnin', which was smart!"

He tossed a quick, annoyed glance around when the others asked about him tracking down Rogg's lair. "Nope, sorry, don't see where he came from clear 'nough. Guess we should just keep headin' back t'town." Almost like he was just wanting to get home and maybe talk to his sister.

OOC: Le sigh.
09:10, Today: Izayah Hamadrell rolled 7,8 using d20+4,d20+4.  Survival for Rogg tracks (2nd roll in case someone is helping me).

Re: Strange Magick

"Yes I'm fine thank you. Once I saw him start to get angry I knew to get away, or at least try. I'm glad it seems no one has gotten hurt. Shame, though. I could see what your friend was trying to do. If only a creature like that wasn't evil to its core." Gabriella pondered the thought for a short moment then brushed it off.

Re: Strange Magick

Malkus points nebulously to the West. "Looks like he originally came from over... there."

While they are walking, he resumes his conversation with Alban.

"So I understand the part about purchasing components and trading completed goods for other goods, and that makes a lot of sense. Does it involve any time commitment from me, though?"

Said another way: Do I get to just give you 7*x gold, come back later, and you simply give me 30*x gold Hexia-credit?

Re: Strange Magick

After the battle is over with the ogre Alban helps secure the area by scouting the immediate area with Whisper to make sure there are no other surprises lurking for the party.

After awhile Alban resumes his conversation with Malkus concerning crafting ideas.  "It doesn't require any time commitment on your part if you don't want to.  However if you do help out with the crafting process it doesn't take as long to finish the crafting and receive the in-store credit with Hexia.  It's really up to you."

Basically, if you donate downtime units to help the crafting process we are able to either finish in half the time or create twice as much. You would also receive an XP award for the downtime units spent.  It's up to you and what your plans.  Just let me know.

Wightvane tucked the coins away, not bothering to even divide up such a paltry amount. He tucked it away for now, and would put it towards drinks later.

I haven't tracked my downtime apparently, so I'll need to go research how many I've gotten. I don't mind dumping all of mine towards Hexia credit.

Izayah nodded at Gabriella. "Okay. Good. You did the right thing." He glanced at Rogg, "An' yeah, I get what he was tryin' t'do, but...some dogs can't learn new tricks."

He walked back with her towards the others. He glanced at Malkus and smiled, letting out a sigh. "Alright. Fine. If ya'll wanna go chase down the lair, let's go."

He looked at Alban and nodded. "Yeah. Count me in. Store credit ain't a bad thing."

Re: Strange Magick

In about half the time it would've taken Rogg to return, the group made it to the ogre's den, but long before they saw it they smelled it. This horrible potent odor of rotting meat filled the air as they got closer and closer to their target. Most likely trying their best not to breathe in the nasty air the group arrived at Rogg's den, the place this lonely giant once called home.
