Re: Strange Magick

Wightvane dug around in the filth, picking up a few gold coins, then pulled back quickly for a moment before summoning the spear into his hands and stabbing down. He then used his legs and back to pivot a skewered body out of his way and off to the side. More coins were found, followed by another body, more coins, yet another body, even more coins, and still another body, and some more coins.

"There's close to eighty or ninety gold coins, here. I don't know what he was doing leaving the bodies piled up here like that."

From outside of the cave opening looking in, Alban summons a magical hand to help Wightvane search through the debris and slime of remains.  "Let me know if this helps you any, Wightvane."

Izayah's nose wrinkled at the smell as they got closer. He shook his head and made a disgusted noise. "Sorry, Elisar, but I'm glad he's dead." He glanced at Gabriella for only a moment.

Then he pulled up his shirt to help mask the smell and went to go help with digging graves for the victims.

In reply to Izayah Hamadrell (msg # 800):

Elisar nodded grimly. “I think maybe you are right. Some creatures simply cannot change their nature, and for the good of this region I guess he needed to be... gone.”

From his pack he retrieved a spare shirt and wrapped it around his face to block out the smell, then helped with this grisly task of sorting through the bodes. He was both looking for loot and getting bodies ready for burial. As he sorted through he looked for any kind of identifying markers, maybe they could put names to corpses.

Re: Strange Magick

With the business with the ogre complete the party started to head back towards their destination, but they wouldn't reach that this day. No, instead the sun soon started to set, thankfully not until after they had gotten away from the terrible smell of the ogre's den, and it was time to start finding camp.

Re: Strange Magick

Izayah gave a nod and turned away, wiping his brow, once they'd put the bodies to rest as best they could. He then began leading them away until the sun started going down. "Keep your eyes peeled. We should find a place to rest soon."

He pointed out a terrible place to set up camp, "Maybe there?"

OOC: What. Is Going. On. Lol.

20:05, Today: Izayah Hamadrell rolled 10 using 2d20+4, dropping the lowest dice only with rolls of 3,6.  Survival (for a campsite).

Elisar scouted for a suitable spot to set up his tent. After finding some dry, flat ground he whipped his gear out of his magic bag and began to erect the tent, then laid out his bedding. When time came he volunteered for the final watch so he could watch the sun rise.

07:18, Today: Elisar Moonraven rolled 13 using 1d20+1.  Survival.

Re: Strange Magick

Izayah had a lot on his mind. It had been a crazy trip thus far - and the monsters they'd battled hadn't even been the most stressful or craziest part! He was having trouble getting his mind to be calm enough to sleep when he wasn't on watch - and he was distracted while he was on watch, which was bad. He occasionally glanced at Gabriella while she slept but tried to keep his eyes and senses focused outward.

17:37, Today: Izayah Hamadrell rolled 10 using 1d20+4.  Perception (for watch if needed).

Re: Strange Magick

The sun set and Malkus and Alban were the first two to take watch. It was peaceful as they had grown, perhaps too accustomed to, but never the less they kept their guards up. The night was chilled, but then so were most nights now that they were out of range of the fountain. After a while the time came to wake up the next two. Izayah and Enialis took up their posts for their turn and watched their surroundings carefully. Nothing, no sound of movement more than the occasional sounds of small animals moving about, but still this was enough to keep these two on guard as well. Time passed and it was soon time for the final watch. Izayah and Enialis went and woke the next two, Wightvane and Elisar. They each took their positions as well keeping a keen look out of anything suspicious, but again nothing out of the ordinary seemed to happen. These two were the ones who got to see the sunrise slowly into the morning sky. They each felt the calm air around them and the tranquility that came with it. These two would also take notice though, that when the sun rose they were not the only ones up any more. Gabriella had risen to watch the sunrise for herself. She smiled as she took in the same ambience as the two on watch.

Re: Strange Magick

After a rough night on the rockiest campsite he and Izayah could find, Malkus rises with the sun. His neck creaks like that of a man twice his age, as he rubs some warmth into his joints.

Taking care so as not to disturb the others, he quietly breaks camp and packs his things for the next stage of the journey home. Once the others are up and ready, he heads out, up in front with whoever is finding their path.

Re: Strange Magick

Izayah slept a little less fitfully that night. He woke after the sunrise, slowly coming back to consciousness and sitting up in his bedroll. He stretched and scrubbed his face with his hands, thinking about how wonderful a hot bath would be after all this. He gathered up his things and munched on a trail ration.

"So. Let's make good time today, yeah? Hopefully no more...distractions." He grinned.

Whenever everyone was ready to go, he lead the way once more.
