We will be building our version of Halcyon City around the themes and elements you bring to it. If you guys bring me high-flying epic whiz-bang heroics, our Halcyon City might wind up looking more like Metropolis. If you bring me street-level morally compromised grit, it might look more like Gotham.

At some point, when things have come into more focus, we'll choose a real-world city to use as a general template for our Halcyon City (just as an aide to layout and landmarks and local topography and the like).

I will use this thread to record the setting as it develops.

Magic exists in this setting. Based on current examples, it seems to be a force for evil more than good, and its practitioners seem to be focused on acquiring power at any cost.

Second addition!

As of this writing (1.23) we think the Team will be mostly street-level Masks, dealing with street-level threats.

We think that street crime will be fairly common in Halcyon City.

Recently, there has been a series of accidents in laboratories and industrial sites that have resulted in the people of Halcyon City mistrusting younger Masks. There's rumblings that maybe they need to be more tightly controlled.

Town Councilman Richard Bruckmeier (Ward 4, Tannery District) spearheaded CLAP - The Community Leadership Alliance Project. Every year the program chooses one community-focused project and assembles a team of students from schools around Halcyon City to manage and accomplish it.

It's proven to be a wild success and is very popular with the populace. It's a cinch that Bruckmeier will run for Mayor next year.

This year, the project is building a park and community centre in the Tannery District, and the Community Liaison in charge of the project is noted social activist and community organizer Manon Rouzet.

The project is based out of Smytheville District High School.
