[OOC] Chatting: Full Throttle!

Hi everyone.

While I'm a bit of a late arrival in the game itself I've been talking with the GM behind the scenes for a couple of days now. Should be dropping my background questions pretty soonish.

You too :)

I was floating around somewhere between Reformed and Doomed, so at one point I was working with an idea that was probably (?) a little bit closer to yours. Definitely interested to see how our characters end up playing off one another given that they're sure to have some things in common alongside end goals that might be pulling them in different directions.

[OOC] Chatting: Full Throttle!

Maybe I’m jumping the gun a little here but I thought it’d be good to start some conversation and ‘ask forgiveness rather than permission’ and all that.

I was wondering if y’all had any ideas at this time what sort of tone you’re hoping for from the game. Obviously it doesn’t have to be as clean cut as picking between Metropolis and Gotham, but when I’m using the Playbook which literally has as one of its Moves “Declare a time your illegal actions got people badly hurt” it’d be very helpful to know whether the rest of you are looking for something a bit more straightforwardly heroic.

Personally I’m very flexible. I’m not looking to play some kind of hyper-grimdark antihero or anything like that, but at the same time I’m working with a character who has a chequered past and powers that aren’t going to win her any popularity contests. She’s certainly more on the Gotham side of things, but that doesn’t mean my approach can’t be tweaked and tailored to fit a less gritty and more optimistic world. I’m very happy to go with the general sentiment.

So with that in mind, any idea what flavour of heroics the rest of you are looking for? Bright and shiny or something with a little more edge?

I’m happy with a bit more gritty setting. It doesn’t have to be super bleak, the Daredevil Netflix series and Hawkeye miniseries strike a nice balance.

Yeah, I'd say I'm in the same area as you two. As you'll be able to see as soon as the Joined and I get a public thread to post our backstory in, my character is very much a street level hero who's been going mostly for average criminals, gangers and the like. So the kind of balance between gritty and normal seems like a good one to me.

Some very rough neighbourhoods, but also completely normal parts of town. Crime is easy to find, but not present everywhere.
