The shroud wrapped figure follows you, reaching out shyly.
Ahead, the procession winds into the woods.

In reply to affectionate dead (msg # 368):

As long as it does not effect them, Anita keeps up the pace and allows others to follow. She is not so keen on being around the dead, though, until she is sure they are safe.

Shawn hurries along with Anita, beckoning to the shrouded one to keep up.  "One should not become separated in these woods; it's uncertain whether you would be stuck in Autumn, or mired in the outlands of the Underworld."

Re: On the Road to Autumn

"Anita, we should examine those coins as we travel.  They looked like iron, rather than copper or silver, and from my understanding few cultures use iron as a medium of exchange, but value it for making tools and weapons.

"Further, some faerie folk have an aversion or vulnerability to iron, at least in some forms."

Shawn takes the coin from her, rubs it with a little water from his canteen, and looks closely at it, then closes his eyes for a moment.

He frowns, and returns to examination by eye and touch.

there is something magical about the coin, which has very worn markings on it.

it is not the kind of iron that is particularly  bothersome to fey.

"Aaah!  Anita, I think these belong to her."  He indicates the dead woman.  "Some cultures put coins on the eyelids of a corpse -- sometimes said to be payment for the ferryman who takes them across a waterway to the Underworld, other times simply as weights to hold the eyes closed.

"These seem to have some sort of magic to them, perhaps intended to aid the dead or encourage them to remain quiet."

"I know nothing of her beyond that we seem to have rescued her from that monstrous toad, and that she, like some others in this Procession, seems to be dead and on her way to the Underworld."  He looks at the friendly corpse again.  "And she's not my girlfriend.  My relationship with the dead is more one of consumer and provisions -- but here, seemingly, the dead do not lie quiet."

Rosewood examines the obols, which are coins used to rest the dead...and paybthe ferryman.
these however have runes scratched recently into the surface, making the fey suspect that they have been cursed, and their purpose warped!

Re: On the Road to Autumn

Rosewood puts the coin down and studies it hard.  Digging into the law he learnt from all the books he had studied in the library.
He also tires to work out if what is going on here is the way things should work in the realm of Autumn or is something evil or wrong is happening.
The little pixie's has lived and visited the two other major courts.  He uses his mind try to understand the deeper meaning of the way the Autumn court works.  This is why he is here and this coin is a good way to tr to understand the ways of Auturm court or how a realm could be corrupted.

OOC:
13:00, Today: Rosewood rolled 12 using 3d6 ((6,2,4)).  -  Hidden Lore: Magical Writings NT 13.
13:02, Today: Rosewood rolled 4 using 3d6.  Hidden Lore: Faerie NT 13. – (Critical Success so being hopeful Rosewood learns something useful).
