The Dark Tower - Level The Second
With the grease spell dispelled, Aurion's troop of Orcs prove rather less prone to taking sudden tumbles, and with Tesseryn's gracious acquiescence, the Elf follows Wrukaog and you retrace your path through the aptly named rat-tunnels as Brindle briefs Leisha on the exchange with Berkam-Shem's Orcish contingent.
Oddly, the wizard leaves off his whining and complaining as the Paladin drags him along in a less than gentle fashion. Indeed, the old wizard seems unable to keep a knowing smirk off his face.
You manage to ignore the awful smell that has not been at all improved by the addition of many, many rat corpses and the few dead constables and guardsmen who are still where you last saw them but who all appear to have been nibbled on somewhat in your absence, entering at last the chamber where you found the evil golden bowl.
To the west lies the staircase that leads to small chamber, perhaps fifteen feet on each side. On the southern wall, a stairway rises perhaps ten feet to a trapdoor in the ceiling. On the floor of the chamber stand three giant spring-loaded rat traps, baited with a rather pungent cheese.
And just down the corridor to the south lies the or at least a foul temple of Set from whence a staircase to the north leads to what the Halflings proclaimed to be the cellar of the tavern, based on the ample supply of wine barrels and foodstuffs, with a rather rickety looking staircase stands (to use the term loosely) against the far wall, leading up to a trap door in the roof. And another three cheese-baited traps.
Apparently there is rather a bad rat problem around here. Or at least there was ...
