Setting Summary

The orcs won the war and moved in to occupy the lands of the other demi-humans, along with their allies.  They rule with an iron fist, so most people wisely choose to stay out of their way and not get involved in politics or anything that would attract attention.

The orcs rule most tightly in the cities and towns.  They do not closely monitor the open areas, the forest, or the mountains.  They do occasionally monitor roads, especially the larger ones, and the ocean ports.

Think of the Nazis occupying Poland and you have a good idea of how things are run.  Human life, and life of any non-Citizen, is not highly regarded.  Take any complaints you have to the Town Hall, and bring a good epic book to read while you wait.

Most people believe in superstitious magic, that it is either from the gods or from the devils.  But magic is very rare (and illegal).  People are very superstitious and suspicious of any claiming to use magic.  Even the clerics are looked upon with an eye of suspicion.

The dragons were banished to Allevia when the world split, but they returned (i.e. were summoned) at the outset of the war.  Now, people live in constant fear, but little is known of the creatures.
