Experience Points

I decided to create a separate thread for experience points.  I think this will be easier to keep track of than putting it in the threads.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT I DO NOT ADD ANY 10% BONUSES YOU MAY BE ENTITLED TO, SO THOSE ARE IN ADDITION TO WHAT I PROVIDE.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENTERING THESE INTO YOUR CHARACTER SHEETS AND KEEPING YOUR CHARACTER SHEETS UP TO DATE, INCLUDING ANY LEVELING BY YOUR CHARACTER.

I don't think I have given out experience points since you arrived on Allevia, so this is the XP through "Here There Be Giants - 4":

For Allevia so far, the base per person was 13,000 xp plus bonus XP for roleplaying, posting, and other contributions.

In the caves above, there were missed exploration and puzzle solving opportunities that would have increased the base XP up to about 20,000 each, including a hidden treasure, the handwritten map of instructions out of the caves which no one solved, and a number of traps and related things which were never encountered (including, for example, going south through the double doors back near the freezer room).

The key to solving the map was to go left, right, straight, up, down, etc. as indicated, but in reverse order (since he made it coming into the cave).  Errors could be easily figured out if the next turn didn't happen according to the map.

Re: Experience Points

I think it would be interesting if instead of being so vague about why we got the xp we got, you included in your private line what we, as individuals, or as a group, did to earn the extra points. Just a brief note of something we did that stood out to you, perhaps something like, "Made good use of your environment when you used rocks and rope to produce a make-shift net: plus 1,000 experience". Just a thought I've been mulling over for a while, take it or leave it.

Re: Experience Points

It's not typically that exact or predetermined.  But things like using 15' silence to avoid disturbing the other giants like Kahan just did qualifies for bonus XP, as well as Tahldar's strategy in how to attack.  One thing that gets the most bonus is consistency of posting regularly (and roleplay, even if it's not the smartest play) and thus really being 'part of the group.'

Re: Experience Points

Is it bad that my spell usage is what made me think of it? I recall you applauding my creativity one other time (perhaps with the Withdrawal spell in the Temple?) and it reminded me that I'd wanted to ask about this before.

Re: Experience Points

Copied from APril 23, 2014. Here there be Giants 6
EXPERIENCE POINTS:

The last XP handout was at the beginning of Here There Be Giants 5 [SEE ABOVE FROM JAN 2014], so it has been awhile (at least, in real life time, only two days in game time).

Remember that in addition to traditional reasons to get Experience Points, bonus points are awarded for roleplaying, posting and keeping with the game, and unusual and skillful thinking.

If you level up, please update your character sheet and send me a message letting me know you have done it.  The XP I gave you also does not include any XP bonus you might get for wisdom.
