Re: The Test of the Faithful - 2
Tahldar uses his mage hand spell, and the roughly carved gem comes off its post and towards Tahldar. (Because the spell can only be applied to one object, it obviously cannot be used to put the other gem there.)
The gem gets into Tahldar's hands, but before it even does this, the entire room spins about 5 feet counterclockwise and diagonally down about 5 feet, as if on rollers that have suddenly been loosed.
The room continues to turn counterclockwise...
Even though the room is turning counterclockwise, the lights in the room are not moving. This means that you are currently moving into different light beams as you rotate around the room.
Right now, you (the largest portion of your group) are probably less than 5 feet away from the harmful beam that you discovered...and getting closer.
(It was at about shoulder height and pointing slightly down toward the gem, as you recall from where it injured Borimer. It would probably be at about 6 feet in height at the border of the circle of darkness.)
This also means that the door/exit is no longer directly behind you, since the circular floor is moving/spinning/falling but the walls apparently are not.
