Maelstrom breathes in and breathes out. His wounds heal. Brakt’s attack really had done a number on him, he never really quite healed from that. He looked left. He looked right. And he was about to dash out of the fog, but he heaved again. Falling prone, holding his stomach. “Blaaahh.” Panting, Maelstrom looked over at Tinny. He felt so sick he couldn’t do more than that. His mind was racing. And then he had an idea. Maybe if he was a smaller target, Tinny would miss.

Unfortunately for you Maelstrom, you cannot drop prone.

Dropping prone is a free action (http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG...mbat.html#drop-prone)

The only rule regarding "swapping" actions is using standard actions as move actions, and using immediate actions as swift actions. So you cannot drop prone as anything but a free action.

A recent FAQ clarified that you could only take move actions when nauseated, and no other (not even free actions)

Since you can't use any actions available to you to drop prone, you're still standing.

OOC: I have seen that you cannot switch a swift action for a move/standard action. A main reason for that is because it would allow casters to do some pretty crazy stuff. Outside of that, I haven't seen anything that says you can't use a move/standard for a free action. But in the arena, we can only speak 25(?) words for a free action. I know in matches past, the GM allowed players to speak more words if they gave up more of their actions - suggesting that you can swap greater actions for free actions in (granted I'll have to find the game to be sure I read correctly).

All that said, going prone is like flinging yourself to the ground - that's why it's a free action like falling to a certain degree. If I want to take my time going to the ground, in a more controlled fashion, I should be able to do that as a move action. E.g. if I want to lie down for a crunch or push up. In a sense by doing a more controlled descent, it would in fact take a move action.

Ultimately, I believe I should be able to "go to the ground" as a move action. It doesn't have to be by "going prone" i.e. flinging myself to the ground. It can be a more controlled sense.
