Re: Championship #13: Latro vs. Josep vs. Hiro

   Darn!

Josep Gavinho rolled 16 using 1d20+11 with rolls of 5.  Max Emp SR vs SR16.
Josep Gavinho rolled 14 using 1d20+11 with rolls of 3.  QSR vs SR16.

Josep curses as one of his spells fails to pierce through the drow's magic resistance... leaving him severely wounded, but still breathing. With a snap of his fingers, both hands turn to large draconic claws... one of them still holding a rod.

That's only 88 fire damage then...

Add Grow claws (free) to my list of actions for the turn.

 On with round 3 then!

I get to re-roll? Cool.

Josep Gavinho rolled 25 using 1d20+5 with rolls of 20.  Frida cowardice dc20.
Josep Gavinho rolled 18 using 1d20+7 with rolls of 11.  Frida despair dc20.
Josep Gavinho rolled 12 using 1d20+7 with rolls of 5.  Josep cowardice dc20.
Josep Gavinho rolled 25 using 1d20+5 with rolls of 20.  Josep despair dc20.

So now Josep cowers, and Frida is despaired...

Re: Championship #13: Latro vs. Josep vs. Hiro

Yeah, unfortunately. its not how aura's should work imo, but i haven't sacrificed 1% of my BP to take it up with arkrim yet cause i haven't taken the time to write out an at least reasonable argument that wouldn't make him consider it a waste of his time.
quote:
Auras: Auras are treated as having a duration of 1 round and affect a creature each round they are in the aura or move through it (willingly or not). They allow saving throws to negate every round (unless it deals damage, then its a saving throw for half). Anti-paladin auras, for example, affect a creature immediately upon them entering it (willingly or not) and allow a Will save DC10 + 1/2 antipaladin's level + antipaladin's Charisma modifier to negate the effect each round. A fail means they are affected for 1 round.

i'll get a post up soon-ish,

Re: Championship #13: Latro vs. Josep vs. Hiro

Latro believed himself to be a gonner. However, his innate spell resistance had protected him from Joseph's quickened spell.... this time. One beneficial spell and three rays of certain death. So far, he was in the green.

However, Latro needed a new plan of attack. Hoping that the curse would disable his foe this time around, Latro casts a spell to ruin the caster's eyes and retreats away from Josep towards hiro's remains.

"My lord!" Tiaca calls, hand extended, as he passes her frame of view, the black tentacles still writhing around her. Latro ignores her. She was no use to him trapped in the tentacles of the black abyss and she had little to no chance of escaping on her own or even surviving the duration of the spell. Latro had only himself to count on.

Re: Championship #13: Latro vs. Josep vs. Hiro

Ok, so heres the sticky.

Me, being the person that i am, decided that because we have free range to change around our feats willy-nilly, that i would grab crafting discounts in between matches by switching around my feat selections to get crafting feats and then switch my feats back to combat feats before the match begins. (this is something that I choose to reflect on my character sheet. with a column labeled "In Combat Feats" and "Out of combat feats"
however, i failed to realize/remember/whatever-you-want-to-call-it that just because you can craft something at half cost while out of combat does not mean you get to keep it at half cost when you change your feats and go into combat.

So basically GM Arkrim is giving you guys two choices
1) insta-disqualify me
or
2) Make me poof my gear until i have my appropriate BP's worth of gear

the first option nets Josep his win instantly but he's probably going to miss out on gaining BP off of me.
the second option will significantly cripple me and pretty much give Josep his win next turn anyways

sorry for being a screw up. :D

Haha! Tricky fellow... It was a bold move!

I'm all right with Latro being instantly naked in the arena -- if only because it is such a fun sight ;)

Btw, could you link me to the wording of the curse that could rob Josep of his next round worth of actions? I'm curious.

Re: Championship #13: Latro vs. Josep vs. Hiro

It's just your standard bestow curse spell that you failed the save on when i smacked you with my scythe last round. It is continuous afterall. ;P
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/...pells/b/bestow-curse
It was triggered off of my Touch of Corruption ability which hit you last turn and which utilizes fort saves as opposed to will saves in case you were curious.

i'll get my stuff in order by tomorrow at the latest.

Re: Championship #13: Latro vs. Josep vs. Hiro

Hiro, if you're ok with Latro's being stripped instead of disqualified, I proceed with my turn.

Josep was disconcerted by the magical resistance, then more surprised when he saw the guildmaster run away to hide by Hiro charred corpse, and absolutely flabbergasted when the drow suddenly abandoned all his equipment and was left in pyjamas in the middle of the arena...

He had miraculously managed to avoid the blinding effect and the paralysing curse alike, but was dazed for a moment by the sight of the drow in the simplest of outfits...

"Oh my... you've been working out, haven't you?"
He paused to observe intently the muscular silhouette and keep a mental image of it, then unleashed the fury of his fire magic one last time.

 ROLLS:
Josep Gavinho rolled 23 using 1d20+7 with rolls of 16.  DC18 fort save vs blindness.
   -> Josep not blind
Josep Gavinho rolled 100 using 1d100 with rolls of 100.  50% chance of no action.
   -> Josep may act
Josep Gavinho rolled 20,7 using d20+19,d6+4 with rolls of 1,3.  black tentacles
-> Black Tentacles keep groping, 7 damage to Mrs Bird and Mr Skunk
Josep Gavinho rolled 23 using 1d20+11 with rolls of 12.  Quickened Scorching Ray - CL check

Josep Gavinho rolled 23,22,32 using d20+14,d20+14,d20+14 with rolls of 9,8,18.  Maximized Empowered Scorching Ray - to hit TAC.
   -> and that's a further 132 fire damage

Summary: Josep cowers, Frida despairs. The latter buffs the former.
Josep uses the same technique, dealing 146 or 196 fire damage to Latro.

If Hiro is ok with Latro's suggestion, that makes Josep winner, Latro runner-up, Hiro loser.
If Hiro insists on disqualifying latro, that leaves Josep winner, Hiro loser, Latro disqualified.

That battle royale is obviously tainted though... so Hiro, I'm keen to go for an instant rematch if you want (go buy a ring of resist fire beforehand though ;)

nope. thats all. and it did indeed take that second set of rays to off me so i'm happy to know that. ;P

lucky set of rolls on the save and the 50%. At least i got second place by you guy's good graces so i'm ok with the way things turned out.

and i don't like the way you throw around winky faces willy nilly after you say "oh, yeah, just get rings of protection against fire. that'll totally stop me. like i've never turned my scorching rays into ice or some other element before."

but yeah, game over.

Latro comes in second place.

OOC: Latro didn't need to poof all his gear, just enough to get to the proper BP value. And please correct your character sheets to the original format when you're done. That's part of the problem with rules interpretation. If you change it even in the slightest way, you've broken the rules. You can change the content, but not the format.

But okay, if we're finished here I'll take your declarations please.
