Re: Poll # 19: Gladiator Types

So it looks like we have a tie between 1 and 2. Please cast a revote, only this time you can ONLY vote YES for ONE option: 1 or 2.

(1) Keep the gladiator type restriction. People should at least stick to a general theme, even if some of them don't make sense (like Summoners and Bards being Experts instead of Adepts).

(2) Go back to the old way. Pick a race, pick up to 2 base classes and up to 1 prestige class, you can't change your base class(es), only re-arrange them (Barbarian 6/Monk 4 suddenly mutates to Barbarian 1/Monk 9).

Just put a "(1) YES" or "(2) YES". No additional commentary this time (and definitely do not copy the whole explanation before putting your answer, that was just obnoxious guys).

Re: Poll # 19: Gladiator Types

Okay, comparing the old votes and new it looks like 5/7 in favor of 2.

So, if we keep people from changing Race/Class all willy nilly, exactly how do we go about doing that if everyone always has access to their character sheet? Any ideas?

Re: Poll # 19: Gladiator Types

Have every one add race/class to biography line and post in this thread and if they would like to change either send you a PM to pay the X% or straight X BP.

Set a date like 15 March 2016 as a deadline to lock both in just in case they want to do a change befre it costs them.

With it being on the bio line we as a community can kind of police it and its easy to see.

Re: Poll # 19: Gladiator Types

If we wanted to keep the bio lines free for cookies and guild tags, we could also have a sticky new thread.  Each character posts in the thread with a race, two base classes, and a prestige class in one post.  No one can start a new battle without making a post to lock in their choices.

Any changes desired after the lock-in could be noted in the extras of the character's next challenge, and once the match the character can edit his post in the sticky thread to match it.  The Ref would note the change and BP cost in the match ending post, and Arkrim would not have to receive messages or go into the sheet at a separate time to deduct the BP.

Re: Poll # 19: Gladiator Types

I actually thought about that a long time ago, except there's no way to stop someone from changing their post without locking the thread. I mean, we COULD say "editing your post after accepting a challenge = auto-disqualify" but would people be okay with this?

Alternatively, what do you guys think of just posting your stat block privately to your referee each match during your initiative roll? It's the same thing but keeps the ever-changing statblocks locked at certain points of reference that easy to find on a fight-per-fight basis.

It's not even like you need to post your full stat block. You'd only need: race/classes/archetypes/level/feats/spells/gear and the rest could remain on your character sheet.

Re: Poll # 19: Gladiator Types

I like the posting the private stat block to referee and I think special class abilities like rage powers/discoveries/bloodlines/... should be in it to.  The ability to change a post is why I was saying the Bio line because it is locked in with each post so there is always an uneditable refrence as to what you are.

Re: Poll # 19: Gladiator Types

If upon each edit of the post they enclose a link to the game where they take the BP penalty for the change, they can't change it willy-nilly: the bottom of the post it gives the edit date.  If the ref checks your post at and race/classes don't match, or the edit date doesn't match the linked match's date, the game continues but the offender takes a 5% penalty.

Re: Poll # 19: Gladiator Types

Good point, Grunyar. Might as well just copy/paste the whole thing.

Sorry Ario, I really don't want to be the watchdog anymore. It makes me a mean person. You've seen that first hand. I'm done with that. I need it to be LESS complicated, not MORE complicated.

I think just a simple PM to the ref at the start of each match is fine and if you edit that post you're disqualified. Done. No complexity. The ref can handle everything in one place.

Unless someone else can come up with an even SIMPLER plan, that's the route I'm going.
