Ok guys, post your initiative and your character sheets in a private line to me.

For the purposes of this game, the one with the highest initiative will get to choose which end of the pirate ship they start on and the opposing challenger will get placed at the other end.

You guys got lucky and have 4 dire sharks swimming around the pirate ship at all times so if you fall in, thats a guaranteed 2 sharks at least munching on you while you try to get out.

for the sake of less map confusion, the Pirate Ship and the sharks will move 30 feet in one direction until it can no longer move in said direction, or it hits a wall. It will then spend 1 round turing to its left and continue along it's coarse.

Every 5 rounds, i may, at my discretion choose to have the sharks ram the ship to force you two to make balance checks. (the ship is in the water after all and the restriction was that the sharks can only attack things that are in the water.)

should the match start dragging on too long, the sharks will grow impatient and start attacking the ship with the intent of sinking it.

Standard walls means your ship is made of wood. Have fun! :D

Re: Duel #198: Boadicea vs. Josep

The arena was packed. Many had come to see this unusual fight. The Summoners had worked hard to have the colosseum filled with seawater, and a pack of starving sharks to inhabit it. A massive gate opened onto the north wall to let the pirate ship in. It drifted magically into the arena.

Josep was standing at the prow. He was back to his human self, although his sorcerous mongrel ancestry was showing through scales and claws and fangs. He wore a ridiculously inappropriate broadway pirate outfit, with striped tights, snazzy silk belt, unbuttoned white shirt, and a comically wide feathered hat.

He saluted the crowd, without yet looking at Boadicea at the other end of the ship. Instead he kept an eye on the sharks, wondering whether they were hungry enough to consider jumping out of the water to snatch them...

Josep was accompanied by a strange rodent sporting an equally ludicrous pirate costume. It looked like a toy first mate, carrying papers and a dagger for the captain.

"I hope you're ready for this, arrrr!" he shouted, in a poorly executed pirate imitation.

As the bell rang, announcing the commencing of the fight, Josep turned around. He was suddenly businesslike and focuses on the win. He considered his opponent for a second and swiftly executed the magical gestures that would efficiently buff him. His familiar did the same.

In a matter of seconds, Josep had taken a genie-like appearance, was claded in force armour, and surrounded by four illusory doubles.

good question. when i made the map i imagined that row 9 was the front of the ship and row 16 was the back. So just let us know exactly which space you and your familiar are in and we'll let Boadicea take her turn.

 Josep is in K10.

Latro rightfully pointed out that Frida is Josep's familiar, not the other way around. Duh.
As such, she cannot use the share spell ability to cast Mirror Image on Josep...

Hence Josep has no illusory doubles, rather he is surrounded by 5 tiny pirate familiar instead of just the one. Oh well...

Boadicea waves to the crowd in her normal "cheerful" mood wearing more armor than she usually does making her shift uncomfortably as the ship enters the arena her opponent at the opposite end.  She waits for Josep to act and is suprised to see him take a defensive posture and ammused at the band of pirates at his feet.  She activates a few of her Items removing the dredful weight of the armor freeing her movements and continues to prepare herself hoping it is enough to give her a chance to make this a fight.  She closes the distance to Josep and draws he shield ready for battle.

The ship lurches forwards, signaling the start of the match, carrying its precious fleshy cargo with it. the dire sharks continue to swim mostly submerged below the surface of te water. Though only little is shown of them, it is still uncomfortable knowing that the sharks that lurk below the water are just as large as your standard dragon.

Remember to update your staring position according to where you are now located on the map. (Josep, as you had not stated you left the ground yet, I've had joseph move with the ship)

Re: Duel #198: Boadicea vs. Josep

<i> Josep was going to behave as expected, with a series of high-powered rays of energy. He tried it with a twist though.

Frida started by conjuring forces of teleportation, sending both her and her master some 30ft from Boadicea, up in the air and above the Sharks. The tiny human rodent tried to hold on to Josep... The prospect of swimming in the waters was not really rejoicing.

Once airborne, the sorcerer's leg had disappeared in a whirlwind of bluefish dust. He unleashed his magic. First a volley of fire rays, all on target though one of them apparently absorbed by the brawler's armour. Then an augmented volley of freezing cold ones, all striking true.

It was too soon to tell how much the barbarian would be able to withstand of this unforgiving onslaught...

Casually, Josep extended a hand to hold Frida... But the idea that she might fall to the sharks seemed to amuse him.

Re: Duel #198: Boadicea vs. Josep

Before we move on I have a couple questions looking at familiars, I assume you have Imp Familiar all I see A) call out very small loads 5#ish, B) lack the strength to carry an average weight human Key word is Maximum Load so top end of heavy and add in tiny creature beings it is able to occupy your space with you top end of heavy would need to be 300ish so need a strength of 18ish to carry/lift you threw the door.  The other question wanna make sure I get it right mirrior image to hit I need to roll a D5 and do I call out which is hit or is it alway 1?

Re: Duel #198: Boadicea vs. Josep

Regarding the first issue you raise, Frida is indeed a tiny improved familiar. On top of her carried load, she can transport one medium creature per 3 caster level (ie 2 medium creatures) each with their equipment.

Regarding your second issue, you would roll 1d5 if there are 4 images. It is easier to compute of you always consider 1 to be the hit, but I have no objection to your picking an other number as long as it is adequately labelled in the dice roller.

As ref, Latro might have an objection to it but I cannot speak for him.
