Re: Championship #15: Battle for the Belt

I think we are taking melee, in any case. Nothing ranged.

Nothing in what you described would grant total cover anyway, but I agree that there is something to argue about low obstacles, cover or partial cover.

In the section you drew however, square A1 can attack square E3 without any obstacle.

May I remind you of that exact same conversation in round 1, when Josep was half (upper half) in a solid block of masonry? Your argument was that he should get no cover whatsoever from that situation.

Bear in mind also that with 15ft reach, the Elemental “limbs” can reach far beyond the wall to attack, thus negating the benefit of a low obstacle.

Let’s see what Boa thinks of all that anyway.

need clarification on Elementals positions looking at map and thier stated positions I question if E2 any ability to attack Brakt at all and E3 with 15' reach you only get 2 cubes on the angle not 3 so in Brakt's drawing if I understand position the bottom of E3 is actually A1 true?

That is a very good point.

E3 can attack around the wall (on the right side of the map) but it looks like e2 is beyond reach anyway. Darn.

That's why I asked for clarification on position the map looked like it's on ground level but stated position says it's at +2 on the bottom which is same height as the wall

Re: Championship #15: Battle for the Belt

Yes the actual position for the Elementals is +2.
At first I didn't notice Brakt was at -2, which is why I placed the Elementals there.
Then I thought never mind, I can actually still hit from there.
Turns out I cannot with e2.
Tough luck for me I suppose...

So in conclusion, it sounds like Brakt takes only 27 damage.

And Brakt is up.

Re: Championship #15: Battle for the Belt

Brakt grunted in pain as the Elemental hammered into him, and murmured something about Wizards and Monsters under his breath.

Deciding that if he was going to die first, the least he could do is take out on of these elementals, the Ogre poked his head around the wall and let his hammer fly at the Elemental, mixed in with a few punches.  Once the being had fallen, he turned his attention towards the Dodo, and muttered a quick apology under his breath as he sank beneath the ground once more.

A couple of questions:
- do you actually have 8 attacks? 6 “normal” ones, a haste one, and a swift one ?
- when throwing hammers, don’t you provoke aoo?
- is your thrown hammer actually dealing 6d6 damage? How big is it?

5 Normal, 1 Haste, 1 Swift.  I mistakenly labeled Haste attack as A2 and just went from there.

Due to trickery, yes my hammer does 6d6.

As for thrown weapons... I forgot about that, so looks like you get a couple free hits.  Unless you want to let me use a free action first >_>

Re: Championship #15: Battle for the Belt

I'll pass on the free action, but thanks for the offer ;)

Seeing an opportunity as the enlarged Ogre tried to strike him from a distance, the Air Elemental slapped him with a gust of his wind-like limb; with each new attack the giant prepared, the Elemental was there to hit... maybe in a desperate hope to avoid being smashed to bits of air by the Hammer.

DICE ROLLS:
Josep Gavinho rolled 28,25 using D20+17,2d8+15 with rolls of 11,2,8.  aoo vs Brakt throwing Hammer A4.
Josep Gavinho rolled 27,20 using D20+17,2d8+15 with rolls of 10,1,4.  aoo vs Brakt throwing Hammer A3.
Josep Gavinho rolled 30,29 using D20+17,2d8+15 with rolls of 13,7,7.  aoo vs Brakt throwing Hammer A2.
Josep Gavinho rolled 21,27 using D20+17,2d8+15 with rolls of 4,8,4.  aoo vs Brakt throwing Hammer A1.

SUMMARY:
Brakt takes a hit for 27 damage before attack A1 (which misses), then 29 damage before his hasted attack (which would hit), then 20 damage before attack A3 (which misses), then finally 25 damage before attack A4 (which would hit).
If Brakt is rendered unconscious during that process, his remaining attacks don't happen. E3 and Do count on it!

Latro was both relived and worried as he heard the breath leave Brakt's body. One less contender to deal with but one less target to distract the wizard from himself. Something had to be done but Latro didn't have the means to do it. Why did he leave Tiaca at the guild hall? no mater. There was still something that could be done. all Latro had to do was reveal his other competitor to Josep's elementals and they would take care of the rest.

The darkness waned, waxed, and resisted but ultimately shattered beneath the antipaladin’s touch. “Pity.” Haran thought. “Ah the sweet smell of betrayal! Did you feel it Haran? Made all the sweeter by his success.” “Who’s side are you on?” Haran thought. “Why yours of course! But I can appreciate the trouble you have on the way.”

Haran shook his head. He was relying on the darkness to hide his actions but apparently that could no longer be the case. “Remind me to cast blacklight on Latro’s grave once he joins Brakt.” Haran thought. No one will be able to see it, except for me, his fiercest enemy.

The Elementals are intrigued by the sudden disappearance of the area of Darkness. They move to investigate, the first one there perusing the area in search of a target. The huge being of air will point his companions to the right direction so that they can strike.

Do the Dodo decides to go on a hunt for Latro, adamant that he can take on the antipaladin by himself.

Josep meanwhile glides underground

Re: Championship #15: Battle for the Belt

Each of the elementals need to make a DC23 will. If they pass, they can move as normally. If they fail, they stop right outside the edge of the range

Based on this position, does E1 pinpoint anyone with his perception check?
Boa, given the Elementals' action was interrupted, can I have them take an other standard action (instead of the attack)?

Re: Championship #15: Battle for the Belt

Haha, so uh, based on E2's position, i'm going to have to ask that it make 2 DC24 will saves vs my anti paladin auras, starting with Despair

Once again, failure vs despair results in a -2 penalty to all saves.
Failure vs cowardice results in a loss of fear immunity, or a -4 penalty vs fear effects if not immune.
These penalties last until the start of your next round.

Do with this information what you will as there are quite a number of spaces to pick from that are 10 feet at most from this particular elemental.

also, technically, these saves happen before the elemental tries to enter Haran's anti-whater aura so i will ask that, should it fail the save vs Despair, it re-roll the save vs Haran's thing in the hopes it rolls high enough to bypass it. :P
