42 + 26 fire from tiger 1 (and is grappled)

Re: Duel #226: Ankou vs. Grunyar

Little hard to visualize without a map.  I do not see rolls vs the rot at the end of your turn (I may be reading the save thing wrong), Also his max HP same he took 4 con damage from initial round of Rot, and lastly due to nausea I don't think he can do total defense.

Sorry I rushed towards the end and haven’t updated T-Rex properly.

Hp should be 57/117

I haven’t rolled his save, assume it is failed.

If total defence isn’t an option, he would just do nothing.

Re: Duel #226: Ankou vs. Grunyar

Grunyar curses the devil Ankou for having much greater speed than he anticipated.  After regaining his composer to direct his beast while two of the devil's tigers hang on him.  Pointing as best he can at GB3 then at At1 [Language unknown: eeattr ouhi plcama adich uremo na, eiof] Grunyar exclaims to the spider.  As it is attacking the first tiger he motions for Gb2 [Language unknown: enc eve ic en wastinvor erriac ] then at At2.  at this time Gb3 has killed At1 so Grunyar calls Gb4 to move below Gb2 and bite At2, and finally he tells Gb1 [Language unknown:  hi stul atpomi isol re not E ie sihiul ertaac Teng ven Rutno as iv inesnc o t].  now the second tiger At2 is killed by Gb1, Grunyar 5' steps S and E, Gb1 follows right behind closing the box around Grunyar.  Feeling some what safe Grunyar casts a spell on At3 who accepts Grunyars comand and charges Ankou tearing into him.  The smelly demon continues to grapple T-Rex and Nikko added a little flick of his wand targeting T-Rex shaking his bones.

Gb1 was not grappled I must have over looked that yesterday while I was looking at your post quote from Grab universal monster section

Unless otherwise noted, grab can only be used against targets of a size equal to or smaller than the creature with this ability.
I also did not count the rake damage as you need to grapple to rake.

Re: Duel #226: Ankou vs. Grunyar

Couple of points before I get on:
 - pounce allows one to rake without grapple
 - aren’t you supposed to take all your actions before your monsters? If you’re allowed to hold, I don’t see how that rule applies to anything ever.
 - with At3 under your control, aren’t you over the minion HD cap? Sending Gb1 back whence it came.

In reply to Ankou (msg # 47):

quote:
a monster with the rake ability gains two free claw attacks that it can use only against a grappled foe. The bonus and damage caused by these attacks is included in the creature’s description. A monster with the rake ability must begin its turn already grappling to use its rake—it can’t begin a grapple and rake in the same turn.

It says act after not take all your actions, it makes no sense to handicap players like that, and situations just like this it makes no sense to force a player to act with such disadvantages when he/she has the ability to tactically coordinate an attacks from minions and remove the obstacles.

At3 is still yours and in your HD, I do not have complete control the spell just allowed for one action, being attack you as best it can

Re: Duel #226: Ankou vs. Grunyar

I thought the "Minions have to act immediately after your in initiative" meant exactly that, that you cannot act after your monsters and coordinate all these actions in perfect synchronicity when they all happen pretty much simultaneously.
Otherwise I would have had my giants attack before I acted in round 1.
I'll just carry on cause I don't want to dwell on that, but it might be worth clarifying.

Read the Pounce Monster Ability, it very clearly states that monsters can rake as part of a charge rather than as part of a grapple.

Re: Duel #226: Ankou vs. Grunyar

In reply to Ankou (msg # 49):

He can't hold his actions. He can Ready an action, but not hold. This was talked about already with Arkrim and I. So no 5 ft step. If you delay your action, likewise your monsters can't go. Because you didn't go.

GM Arkrim:
Your summons always act immediately after your turn in initiative, whenever that may be (they cannot act at any other time).

THAT'S A FOUL for JAYCE. Asking a question that is already answered on the site long before this match started.

(The GM can butt in when they like but YOU do not get to question a GM unless you're willing to risk an overruling/foul. You should not have used my name in your post.)

If you delay from high 30 init to low 30 init. Your monsters likewise delay from high 30 init to low 30 init AFTER you. So that will never work to have them act before you. Only a readied action will allow them to act before you because in the scheme of things you used time to ready the action (which is why you can' reday a full round of actions).

Scenario 1:

Hold actions Grunyar does nothing
monsters likewise do nothing.

Scenario 2:
Ready an action, limited to standard or less
Monsters act normally.
Readied action happens after monsters act

So either nothing happened because you held your actions. Or you ready an action in which case you either cast spell, 5ft step, or draw scroll from the bandolier.

Re: Duel #226: Ankou vs. Grunyar

That is how I had imagined it worked. Not that it simplified anything over the standard rules, though.
Note you can take a 5ft step as part of your readied action (if you haven't moved during your turn)

It seems like the simplest fix would be to just discard the "draw scroll" action.

In any case, I've got my round ready.

Re: Duel #226: Ankou vs. Grunyar

Grunyar is well-protected indeed, but it will take more than a few demons to keep the Ankou at bay.

"I don't like what you did to my pet..." the monstrous druid bellows.

As the summoner keeps an eye on his enemy, he doesn't see a razor thin silver-lined window opening behind him. Through that portal the Ankou strikes and strikes again, until the shapechanger has no shape to speak of.

Grunyar's bodyguard are dumbfounded as the gigantic weapon appears out of nowhere and reduces their master to a pulp.

Re: Duel #226: Ankou vs. Grunyar

At3 is still under my spell, unless you dispelled the spell it's only action is to attack Ankou

Very interested in this, nothing is stated in diceroller, no feats, abilities, or anything else that needs to be there how a 15' reach giant could hot me

Re: Duel #226: Ankou vs. Grunyar

It’s magic.

I read your explanation on At3 to mean you had control of it only for one round.
Let me know when you’re done with it ;)

I don’t see how it doesn’t count against your minions limit if he is currently your ally.

Also I might have dispelled it if I had known it was not back under my control.

In reply to Ankou (msg # 54):

Spell duration is 16 rounds, put it in my effects line guess should have put that in summary, beast doesn't count on mine because if you leave the arena (or die) it returns to your last commanded action

All rolls must have a description explaining the action. Illegal rolls (rolls that should not have been rolled or that are unlabeled) are either discarded/ignored, re-rolled, or penalized (Referee discretion).

Re: Duel #226: Ankou vs. Grunyar

Thank you. Yes Grunyar it seems the attack is legal. Had to double check, but the break down allows Ankou to attack you from that distance. As far as dice rolls go, labeling has always been:

Player X attacks Player Y. dice and modifier number MdiceX + Y
Player X sets off spell at location Z. dice and modifier number MdiceX + Y

At no time have I seen:

Player X with buff ABCDEFG, attacks Player Y
Player X with buff HIJKLM sets off spell at location Z

The buffs are listed in EFFECTS most likely for that purpose and the character limit on dice rolling isn't very high.

There are PLs to me, though, explaining the buff in use. I just needed clarification on them.

Re: Duel #226: Ankou vs. Grunyar

In reply to Ankou (msg # 58):
I respectfully disagree on the dice roller as rule clearly states:

quote:
You must label each roll you make with the diceroller properly by listing the name of the effect and targeted creature(s) or area(s), as well as any other necessary declarations, such as power attack, smite, metamagic, etc. Abbreviations are okay if obvious or explained in previous post during match.

Feats and Items that give extra reach and as such modify the dice roll.

Dice roller is mute anyway with my AC only a botch won't hit, just would like more people to realize that you need more info in it.

Still question how things stack to get an extra 15' of reach.

As for the tiger, it is still under spell and did no action on his turn as it had already acted this round correct?
