Sounds like something straight out of the bayou!

Honestly I’d rather keep it simple: I’ll take a CR4 dragon x1.5 is 6, and roll with it.

I just like the idea of a monster game, where we steer a bit away of the typical race + class progression.

Also.....as an animal become Beastfolk, an alligator has listed under Skills:

Skills Perception +8, Stealth +9 (+17 in water); Racial Modifiers +8 Stealth in water, +8 Swim


Does this mean that the Only class skills they have are Perception, Stealth,  and Swim? And should Beastfolk have Knowledge (Nature) as a Class skill to emulate survival instincts?


Do Monsters have basic Class Skills? Like Stealth, Survival, Intimidation, etc?

You use the creature's type & subtypes to determine class skills.

Use the SRD site search box to research "creature types & subtypes". It explains everything.

Got it, thanks.

So 'brute class' has Fighter BAB and Good Fort saves, but animal had good Fort and Reflex saves. Does one override the other?

No. It was just an idea to make it easier and more customizable which would be replacing the normal rules entirely if it is implemented.

For simplicity's sake we can just pick monsters but for some reason everyone seems to be having trouble with that. choice paralysis.

 I think I’m going to be the face and play either Brownie/Pixie or Imp/Quasit sort, y’all ok with that?

If after a month of game I find it too rubbish, can my monster die and I come back with a new one? :)

Sure, everyone come up with a backup monster. They'll be another group that escape that might meet up with you should someone get ADVENTURER'D. LOL

Would unifying the monster progression mitigate choice paralysis? I'm seriously considering implementing it. Would cut down on it at least.

Beastfolk writeup says

Shouldn't they be Monstrous Humanoid? Monstrous lists 'Humanoids with Animal characteristics' under their 'type'.

Original manimal template had them listed as TREATED as "animal", "humanoid" and "monstrous humanoid"  and got cropped to humanoid during conversion but yeah monstrous humanoid probably more appropriate. I updated it.

No, the only way to get traits is to take the Additional Traits feat. Traits were never a part of the core game, they are a variant/optional rule.

No, they are not multiclassing anyway.

My problem wasn't paralysis. I have my feats and skills figured, save that now I have more skill pts to throw at Class skills. My problem was misunderstanding the beastfolk template. I'm better now (I think).

I’m also in the process of moving from London back to France, so want of free time is my main problem right now.

But I think I’m going to roll with the Imp Devil idea. Stats aren’t great, but they have nice SLA and seem fun to play.

We didn’t talk alignment, but is it fine that I’m Lawful Evil?

But I could do a similar concept with a ratling or sin seeker.
And if there are SLA that I shouldn’t have Arkrim, we could work out that he’s wearing an Adamantine bracelet that keeps him from using said SLA until removed (ie never!)

I’m here and near ready to get started.
Boss would you mind my using the Imp even though you said no outsiders?
I’m not sure what the reasoning was, but if it’s to do with summoning/teleporting, these abilities could be rendered unusable by virtue of a cursed item or crippling condition.

I know you said no 3pp but I’ve found this cool template to create a beholder-type creature (how iconic is that??) even though pathfinder does not own the rights to the beholder.

 Obviously I would be happy for it to be nerfed so it stays on par with other monsters :)

 Also could you make my character sheet user-editable? Thanks a million.

In french beholders are called Tyrannoeil, or Tyrant Eye
