Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail
Cayl speaks up immediately, looking to Dalir as he does. "Go on, Dalir. I....I want to return to the Steading.  I feel my desire for adventure has been extinguished by reality."

Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail
The wolfbrother puts Azara down for a moment. He goes to pull the sword from her and sheathe it on his back-down the center as the bow is on one side and his axe on the other. He looks over at Jennor and nods."You speak the truth, I can tell easily. I will take the sword and break it from her to see what occurs. As for leaving her-I never did and never will for death won't even seperate our connection." His eyes shift onto Nerissa."You are no Aes Sedai and with your attitude-never will be. I have met Aes Sedai and known how they are. They don't act like schoolchildren. Either come with us and shut it or go." He pauses for a moment expecting some sort of rebuttle or attack. Once everything is gathered and the gate is wove, he looks to Darek."Riverwind will remain here. Watch Red. I will enter to check the area. Do not follow immediatly, for if it is the right place-Red will know through the bond as will Riverwind. They will let you know. If the place is not right-I have the best chance of survival." With that said, he kisses Azara in the stall, carries her over to the gate and gently places her down near the ones he knows and prepares to go through....

Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail
Darek ties off the weave. It is large enough for 3 to ride side by side if careful, easily large enough for 2 at a time. It had taken some time to gather mounts and gear, but not as long as it might seem later when the stories were told, for he had no coubt stories of this day would be told.

"I fear it might be this place as much as a connect to the One Power. Let's get her away from this battle. If she doesn't improve, then we should try shielding her. Either way, we are awat from the village and not someplace we are likely to be anticipated to be."

OOC

Horses and gear were gathered quickly before the gate was opened. Kiserai is trained warhorse, so comes when called. The mares were likely to follow him across the bridge, and possibly the mules.

Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail
Thayna Dabei:
"Nerissa, I want to stay with them, I want our mission to succeed.  Won't you consider, I have never known you to run away from a difficult situation."

Nerissa responds, "Our mission was given to us by Murane Sedai. I doubt if she knew that this other group was involved at all. So we don't have to act with them. There may be reasons for our two groups to act together, but there are also reasons for us to act separately. I can do either, no matter how childishly the two young males act and talk with their threats and name-calling.

I am prepared to go to Emmon's Field either way."

She looks at Jennor and says, "I am surprised that you listen to the wolfboy's and the male wilder's ignorant attitudes and childish behaviors. You have been raised in the White Tower, haven't you? So you do understand that their viewpoint is quite narrow and uninformed? But then, of course, it is your right to take their opinions... if you choose."

Thayna and Jennor move away and go towards the stable; she decides that it is better to stay away for awhile.

She hears Xander speak of her, and says, "Even with hightened senses, he is too far away to have heard anything."

Thayna tries once more, "Nerissa, Melina has promise to teach all her weaves. That will certainly help us in fulfilling our mission."  They are traveling. Imagine that, a lost talent. Besides if you don't go through with us, you will be weeks behind.

Back post. Arrived,In the stable soon after Darek put it in wrong thread

Melina hurry after Darek, not running but she did lengthened her stride and her hurry her walk..  She saw Darek enter the table and Thayna after him entering the stable, so she headed after them. She felt Darek's concern so she gathered her skirts and ran. Entering the stable she saw Darek down near Xander who was holding Azara close to him.  She started to ask what was wrong when Thayna spoke up.

Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail
The wolfbrother pauses and looks in Nerissa's direction but says nothing. He seems to change his mind and picks Azara back up. He growls loudly, obviously angered greatly."Nevermind. I am taking Azara with me through the portal as well as Riverwind. I cannot leave her /here/." He stares at Darek and makes no mood to hide his anger and then he goes through without another word.

Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail
Darek has The others follow quickly, "Follow now, The gate closes when we are through. If you are coming, get your gear and come."

His tone is even, emotionless, more Ais Sedai than most Ais Sedai. His face is a mask of calmness.

When anyone going is through, along with horses, gear, and  final look around, Darek closes the gate.

Xander and Azara as well as Riverwind dissapear through the gate, as well as their horses followed by some if not everyone else. As soon as he goes through carrying Azara, his senses kick in and he immediatly goes on the defensive though doesn't put Azara down.

Melina looks at Darek  rather fierce for her.  Darek we will wait until all is ready for the Ogier Jennor and Nerissa. It must be this way it is crucial  And you must let Raiel and Xander scout it out.

Neriissa Please send Jennor for you things. We WILL wait.  Won't we Darek?

Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail

It is dark when Xander and Raiel step through the gate, it takes a moment to adjust oneself to position and what is around you.  Only bits of moonlight dapple the ground.  Overehead the same moon, that shone over the village, is mainly obscurred by a canopy of trees. A fallen log by where they stand has been neatly sliced in half by the gate.

(OOC: Xander and Raiel, then whoever and whatever in order of posting.  I will assume you all gathered before the first two stepped through.)

Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail
Darek steps through, leading Kiserai. He looks around, a cross look on his face as he looks at where they are. Clearly not a hayfield near Emond's Field. The look faded quickly. Still, he had created a gate. Perhaps like anything, he simply needed more practice.

Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail
Raiel is puzzled by the darkness but she didn't let it stop her from scouting the area. She moves out into the surrounds keeping low and moving silently as she could.

"Xander you are burdened. Stay near enough to the Gateway so that you can relay What I discover.  You don't want to risk risk Azara's life while you try to scout.  Guarding her  will be detrimental to your abilities.  I will whistle an all clear like this," she give and a trill of a  night bird, "If a caution then this," she hoots like an owl, "and if danger this," she gives the raucous call of a from.

Ahlandra calls to Jennor to help her get the horses, mules, and supplies.  She tacks Thayna's horse and advises Jennor to tack Nerissa's mount first.  Then, with the help of Jennor, they work fast to tack their horses and pack the mules and lead them off the riverboat.

Nerissa din Nelyn:
She looks at Jennor and says, "I am surprised that you listen to the wolfboy's and the male wilder's ignorant attitudes and childish behaviors. You have been raised in the White Tower, haven't you? So you do understand that their viewpoint is quite narrow and uninformed? But then, of course, it is your right to take their opinions... if you choose."

Jennor shoots Nerissa a glance that clearly conveys the message: "This is NOT helping right now!" but merely states in a coolly calm tone, "I am White Tower trained and we are taught to make the most of an opportunity when the Wheel Weaves one before us.  We are also taught that, whatever the means, the end goal is the defeat of the Dark One... all other considerations are secondary.

I am trying to avoid "taking sides" at the moment because that seems rather counter-productive.  As to whose opinions I listen to, I am trying to keep an open mind and afford everyone the benefit of the doubt."

Jennor heads off to gather his own gear & mount as well as Nerissa's.  Personally he doesn't know if Nerissa will agree to come along in the end but better to be prepared in case she does.  As for Jennor, he has all sorts of mixed feelings about recent events but there is no doubt that this "gating" may dramatically cut short the travel time.  Such a shortening of the trip may well serve to increase the chances of success for his mission so the risk is worth it.  As for the tension between the two groups, Jennor would rather not focus upon it right now.  There will, sadly, be plenty of time for bickering and bad behavior on both sides once the gate travel is completed.

Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail
As Jennor and Ahlandra work to get all tacked and packed, Alhandra leaned over to him.

"Have you noticed that it seems Nerissa Sedai, acts more Aes Sedai like than any other I have ever seen.  Her view of these people is like they are dirt under her feet.  Yet if it were not for them we would all be dead."

"I have a lot of respect for this other group.  They could have run to the riverboat and let the village take the attack.  Yet their first actions were based on their concern for the commonfolk.  That in my book puts them at a highest level on the White Tower.

"Mistress Thayna seems to be more open minded in some respects."

Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail
Jennor sighs as he shrugs his shoulders and says in a non-committal tone, "She is still relatively young and new to her position, I am not sure her attitude is really that different from many Sisters at the White Tower.  Have you ever seen a Red Sister look at ANY male?  They regard us as less than worms to be stepped on, even those of us who can't channel.

Perhaps it is a reflection of the Ajah Nerissa Sedai pursues, not all Ajahs are as tolerant or open minded.  My own mother, Lerelle Sedai, is of the Green Ajah and the Greens tend to be a bit more liberal in their attitudes when it comes to fighting the Dark One.  Certainly my father, Lord Brevin Gaidin, is a strong willed and, according to my mother, hard headed man but mother made allowances when she Bonded him as her Warder because he had such a strong determination to fight the Shadow at any cost.  It was that same unified purpose that eventually led them to wed, which is not customary even among Green Sisters.

Many in the White Tower do feel "entitled" but then again they also bear great responsibilities.  To be fair to Nerissa Sedai, her attitudes may well be the product of the particular Sisters she studied under back at the White Tower.  You must admit that being faced with male channelers and wilders, the White Tower's official position would be far more draconian.  Nerissa and Thayna may yet be stripped of their rings as well as their shawls, sent to work penance on one of the Tower's farms for showing such cooperation.  As for me, I may well be cast out of the Tower entirely, never to be Bonded into service."

Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail

"You are right in that she might have gain her views from her teachers.  I will give her the benifit of the doubt. As to losing rings and shawls, neither of them has been accepted into the sisterhood.  So yes, they are risking much."

Se helps Jennor getting the last of the packs on the mules.

"We live in interesting times Jennor, I am pretty sure that those people are Ta'veren, who knows maybe we are too."

Re:  Chapter 3.2: Following the trail
Jennor shrugged as he said, "Well... "interesting" might not be the first word that came to my mind regarding these times.  As to who is Ta'veren and who isn't, only time will tell.  As I understand it, having a Ta'veren nature can come and go... so if we are Ta'veren now, I suppose we ought to make the most of it.

As for risking much... you do realize that, even without Tower ties, you too could be endangered by associating with these others.  The times may be changing but that doesn't mean the fearful or hateful attitudes of the general population are changing along with the times.

But we have cast our lot with these others and now all that is left is to hope for the best I suppose."

Jennor may have been willing to set aside years of bias towards male channelers, wilders, and Aiel for the greater good, but that did not mean that he had simply turned off those feelings of apprehension or dread.  Nor did it mean he liked the idea of what would happen if his involvement with these others became publicly known... especially by the White Tower.

Nerissa accompanies Ahlandra and Jennor to the boat. She takes some supplies out of her belongings with which to make her Aes Sedai robe. While the two pack, she goes and speaks with the two captains. "Most of the two groups are going overland from here, while one of the Ogier may be returning to travel with you.

Thank you for the safe journey on your ships, and may you have a safe passage from here on."
She gives each a couple of coins.

She walks back to the gate with them and follows them through
