Re: 5.2 White Tower
Jennor bowed his head towards the officer as he said, "Well that is most encouraging news Sir.  I am sure His Lordship will be most gratified to hear what an excellent job you and your fellow Children of the Light are doing keeping the roads safe for good, honest travelers who walk in the Light.

I bid you and your men a good day and I wish you all the blessing of the Creator."

Taking his cue that the Whitecloaks were too busy to bother with them for the moment, Jennor deftly rode back to the carriage and motioned for the riders & drivers to proceed as he said to them, "These dutiful and vigilant Children of the Light have assured me that the road ahead is safe and clear of any dangers.  We may continue with our travel free of worry."

Assuming they speak the truth and are not blinded by their own arrogance.

Re: 5.2 White Tower
The lieutenant looked up to Jennor and paused for a moment "Who is in the couch? Perhaps I should make make myself known to them." he paused and added for clarification, just to be polite."

"Yes I will ride back with hyu. Sergeant, Prepare the troop to move out."

The long suffering sergeant, a veteran brought to troop to readiness with a word.

As the lieutenant began to ride in the direction of the coach.

Once on on the way the lieutenant turns to Jennor, "If you ever leave your Lord's service and want to ride in a real fighting army that fights for the Light  why don.t you sign up with us, The Children of the Light." We can use well train men. We fight for the Light, for what is  good and true. You could rise  quickly in the ranks. We serve no King or Queen only our commanders who are sworn to the Light as are we all."

The sad thing is that the young man truly meant what he said.

Back at tne coach it could be clearly seen the troops returning with Jennor.

The lieutenant looked up to Jennor and paused for a moment "Who is in the couch? Perhaps I should make make myself known to them." he paused and added for clarification, just to be polite."

Jennor nodded his head and replied, "By all means Sir, I am sure the travel party will be glad to meet their protector who has kept the roads free of danger.  The three passengers are merchants I believe, acquaintances of His Lordship whom he extended the offer of transport and escort.  I believe at least one of them, Lady Dabei, is Domani.  You know doubt have heard the tales that a Domani woman's talent for seduction is matched only by her skill in negotiating trade deals... such I believe it is for Lady Dabei.  Or at least she seems the more dominant personality, the more open and socially outgoing of the three.  Her fellow merchant companion Mistress din Nelyn appears the more quiet and shy of the two.

I believe poor Mistress Rennkin has taken somewhat ill, though whether it is just the general malaise of rough travel by coach or perhaps something not agreeing with her from the meal she at before departure is unclear.  I believe she has been trying to quiet her discomfort with extended rest.

For the lady's sake, I would ask that, if she is sleeping, perhaps we might not disturb her?  In any case I understand from His Lordship that Lady Dabei is nominally the "leader" if you will among the travel party... not surprising I suppose given her status and the reputed skill of the Domani women for business."

Jennor smiled appreciatively and said in a thoughtful tone, "Well that is a most gracious offer Sir.  Certainly one hears many places about the valiant fight the Children of the Light make against the Darkfriend minions of the Dark One.  It is noble work.  Though I must admit that His Lordship has been a most kind and generous lord.  Still one must look to the future and I shall keep your offer in my mind."

Jennor continued to ride alongside the Lieutenant and, as they approached the side of the coach, Jennor softly announced, "Lady Dabei, Mistress din Nelyn?  Is Mistress Rennkin still resting quietly?  The honorable officer leading the contingent of noble Children of the Light has requested an meeting with you ladies but I have explained about Mistress Rennkin's delicate stomach and "indisposition".

We do not wish to disturb her slumber if she is resting.  Nevertheless, if I may say so, I believe it would be nice if Your Ladyship could quietly converse with the fine officer as his fellow Children of the Light have promised us safe passage along the road, free of the danger of the Dark One."

The Lady Hadara is not aslseep when Jennor rides up the the Whitecloak troop.  She is attentive  though Jennor notices she look  is interes but Jennor notices a bit paler than ususal. That hadden been the olace. He is bleft to wonger. What eill happen now is to be wondered at.

The Whitecloak officer  Lord Draconholt's other "guards" are attentive and seem to be well trained fighting men not older  or want to bes. Only the driver had age of him and was not a fighter all all.  If the lieutenant thought that he woulds have been sadly mistaken.  The  driver had been one of the  Lord Draconholt's troopers and had retired to His Lordship's service. In fact several knives were near to hand, and a bow and full quiver were ready for use. Tornson also kept his sword sharp and hidden under the seat.

Nerissa notes the extended conversation between Jennor and the Whitecloak, and tries to hear what is being said. Unfortunately, she hears only bits and pieces.

Yes, it would be better for Thayna to be the spokesperson for the group inside of the coach. Nerissa tried to catch her eye and suggest that she speak to the Whitecloak officer.

The  lieutenant stopped his troop a short way away from the coach and rides forward. Urging his horse  ahead of Jennor a bit. Asserting his supposed authority.

He did not dismount, but rather speaks to the passengers I am Lieutenant Karsten of the Children of the Light. I understand you required information about the roads.  I I thought I would inform  you directly. To whom am I speaking with.

"I am Lady Renkin. I do thank you for your kindness of speaking to me yourself.  Such courtesy is to be expected for those who serve the Light. The Lady seemed to have the measure of the man who addressed her.

Having served his role of escorting the officer to the ladies, Jennor remained quiet and observant as introductions were made.  According to the plan, it was now time for the ladies to handle the talking.  Hopefully they could successfully bypass this potential trouble through talk alone.

Thayna leans out of the window of the coach frankly boggling the the lieutenant. In  an excite girlish voice she exclaims, "Oh Nessie just Look at the soldiers in their fine uniforms."She turns on all her Domani training on the Lieutenant batting her long eyelashes  and looking adoringly at the Lieutenant. "I do so love men in uniform."  Thayna sighs poignantly her voice pitched to be easily heard, her lashes flutters as she does.

Lady Renkin, in tones of bored nobility. I thank you for your information, It is much appreciated.  However These two girls that I am escorting back to their families are uniform mad, which is why they were sent down to the county to get them away from temptation.  So you will excuse me if I get them away from further temptation of an fine young officer--in uniform.

"Keep  up the good work. Hadara turns and motions the driver. "Drive on."

With alacrity Tomas picks up the reins and Ands the horses forward.

Thayna is leaning out the window her head in her hands staring at the Lieutenant. Her long lashes fluttering as she sighs audibly  the young Lieutenant who is trying to to notice.  He looks uncomfortable. at the talk going on from the two young ladies in tne coach, girl talk had always bothered him Thayna protests their departure her voice almost a moan of disappointment.

Lady Renkin, uses Rhayna and Nerissa's behavior as her ex. With alacrity Tomas picks up the reins and sends the horses forward.

As the coach drove off "Ohhhhh,  You are ....so...mean.  We didn't have to leave so quickly." Her voice fades as the distant distance grew between the two parties.

Nerissa was glad that she had taken the time to compose herself. She thought it better not to look at either Thayna or Hadara Sedai or she might burst out into laughter!

So she carefully looked between the ceiling of the coach and a point to the left of the officer, "Oh yes! Uniforms make men look so much... manlier. Who would have thought, Lady Renkin, that we would meet men in uniform out here."

Talis leads on as he is on point, his eyes darting here and there in search of trouble. One thing he learned is that the majority of the white cloaks are not as vigilant as they say they are. They are too busy meeting out thier brand of justice to just about anyone they feel like.

Re: 5.2 White Tower
Jennor manages to keep a straight face until the ladies are seated once more in the carriage.  He then looks over at the Whitecloak and allows himself a small knowing smile as he rolls his eyes and shrugs lightly as if to say "girls will be girls".

With a nod of his head to the officer, Jennor says, "I thank you Sir for taking an interest in our well being and I too would like to offer my encouragement for your continued vigilance that has kept this area free from danger.

May the Light continue to shine & guide both our parties, protecting us from the evils of the Dark One.  I bid you and your fellow Children of the Light a pleasant good day."

Jennor then urges his mount forward to ride slightly ahead of the carriage as he keeps his eyes on the road ahead.

Hmm... they didn't seem like bad chaps despite being Whitecloaks and all.  Maybe not every Child of the Light has to be a violently power-hungry bully or brute?  Of course whether that officer will remain as pure of purpose should he rise in the ranks among the Children is another story.

The coach moves on steadily toward Caemlyn passing small villages and the town of FFour Kings. The well guarded coach was not bothered by the various groups of riff=raff that watched it and decided to not take the party on. They waited for easier meat.

Re: 5.2 White Tower
Jennor kept a close watch on the roads as the group continued on its travels.  He kept an eye and ear open for talk about passing Whitecloaks, wondering if the group they had met on the road might just be part of a much larger contingent in Andor.  Jennor tried to figure out how much more traveling would be required before they finally reached the city of Caemlyn, of course he was just as curious about what they would be doing once they reached their destination.

Re: 5.2 White Tower
Nerissa and Thayna were convenient prisoners of Hadara Sedai.

She was grilling them, probably with the best of intentions towards the two passing the trials and becoming full Aes Sedai.

Nerissa periodically looked out of the window at the passing scenery, sometimes spying Talis and Jennor on horseback, and wishing that she was outside riding too! Despite her poor riding skills!

Talis looks back at Jennor and nods to him, "I am goin to scout ahead." Without another word, he takes off ahead of the group to scout the area. His eyes darting left, right, up, and down in search of any signs of trouble that may lay waiting for them on the road.

Re: 5.2 White Tower
After leaving Four Kings the land while still most ly open wand not inhabited this far out.  Jennor know that the closer they got to Caemlyn there would be  farms and villages would be scattered along the road and further a field.  However this stretch did have several areas that had fairly extensive stand of trees along it.  It was a wise idea to check them out. There had always been reports of a few bandit bold enough to try there hand on small group or single travelers.

A Low voiced conversation was taking place low at first and more but as it continued the voluble and volatile it became.  One voice  though cut through the argument with a low  voiced command.

Silence reigned. in the thick undergrowth.

Re: 5.2 White Tower
Jennor drew his blade as his suspicions were aroused by the mysterious argument suddenly gone silent.  He motioned for the others to prepare themselves likewise as he pulled back on the reins of his mount in order to fall back sufficiently to speak with the ladies inside the carriage.

Jennor leaned over and said in a soft tone, "I think it might be wise of you ladies to be prepared for some potential danger up ahead.  I know nothing definite as yet, though Mr. Lee is out scouting... however I could hear some sort of increasing volatile argument stemming from the undergrowth ahead... just before a forceful voice of command silenced the dispute.

Maybe it is nothing... but I don't like unexplained occurrences."

Jennor paused in case any of the ladies wished to reply and he readied his mount to move forward again.

Talis frowns. He nonchelantly looks around then turns and heads back to the group, his wits up and alert in case they decide he is not heading back to warn the others. Talis will leave at a fast paced gallap as if just returning on routine scouting mission as he always done in the past.

Whether emboldened by the promised reward or in fear of the man's threats of what would happen if they failed  The toughs broke out of cover moving quickly to overcome the lone guard.
