Kail moves into attack His blow true He cuts deeply into the fade left thigh. Hangars attempt to disarm the Myrdraal as weapon and Myrdraal faded into the shadow.

As the Fade he could not keep hold of as the Fade steps into the shadow to shift to the other side of the shield that Thayna set before Alem,

Darek's casts Immolate on the Fade. It erupts in flame but is still alive as it steps out on the other side of the shield.

After striking a fatal blow to Alem The Fade turns on Thayna who had moved towards Thayna screams As she senses Alem's death. Seeing the fade move forward she struggles for composure and fils.  Her emotions much to raw.

Re: In the courtyard
Finding his purely mundane attempt to combat the supernatural beast thwarted with contemptuous ease Hangar makes an attempt to try again only to run directly into an immovable wall of air now between himself and the Fade as it presses it's assault.

Knowing only very little about how channeling works, and less about who it works for, Hangar makes the only suggestion that makes sense to him in light of the enemies obvious attempt to divide and concur a superior force. ”Lure it around the invisible wall again so we are not divided.”

Re: In the courtyard
Thayna's  wall of air goes down. which allows her friends no impediment to attacking the Fade  The Fade smiles hideously, "Too late Aes Sedai." as it turns to Thayna standing so near.  Even in the face of all the others about to attack it lunges at Thayna. manages to lunges at Thayna the black blade aimed at her heart. Alem gravely wounded launches himself as a human shield grabbing the black blade with hiss hands and deflecting it from Thayna into himself. and she backs away from the fades attack.

The multiple attacks strike true Nerissa's Rend sheds the fade's flesh away. Hangar, Jennor, Raiel and  and Kail attacks cause the fades to howl and stumble and fall fatally wound but not yet dead as  is the case with Fades.  Darek's Emolate weave hits the  Fallen creature as the friends backed away from the still twitching gody

Out of combat  The used of Power by the women will not fo unnoticed so close to the Tower.

What Now.

Re: In the courtyard
Darek knew that much use of the power would have Sisters and Warders running. "We need to finish loading up and get out of here, now." he said to those around.

He looked around for the stable boys. "Help the ladies with our belongings and be quick about it," he said as he set to making sure their horses were saddled.

"We'll link and Travel," he said to his beloved. They shouldn't be able to sense his weaves or their residue.

It was times like this he sounded as if he was the noble his gear said they were. It usually meant others jumped without asking too many questions.

Kail pulled out a handkerchief from his coat and wiped his blade off from hilt to tip before he tossed the, now useless rag, onto the twitching body.  He slowly sheathed his blade before he quickly moved over to the fallen Warder.  He knelt by him and pressed his hand over the wound to stem the flow of blood.  He tried to assist the man but he had already departed this life.  Knowing the Warder's Aes Sedai would not be far behind he stayed put and waited for her, hoping to alleviate her pain at his death.  He looked over to the man speaking with authority and questioned his need to leave so quickly, "A brother is dead, a Fade in Tar Valon, and we need to inform the Tower of that which has transpired here.  We cannot run."  He stayed on his knee looking at the man waiting for a reason that made sense not to wait for the Aes Sedai that would undoubtedly be on their way.

With the sort of methodical efficiency most travelers acquire eventually Hangar returns to his over sized room and repacks all of his belongings into the enormous backpack that would give most pack horses trouble while the others discuss their plans.  While not nearly as hasty as most humans Hangar shows none of the often misunderstood Ogier indecision instead acting without haste, or delay.  On his return to the stables he joins in the efforts of the stable hands making quick work of the task of lifting filled saddle bags onto horses once the more numerous and smaller hands have them packed.

Re: In the courtyard
"Pledged to the....you mean?  The Black."  The last part came out a hoarse whisper as he knelt by the fallen Gaidin.  He looked to the speaker of the words and searched his heart for the right words.  "If they have infiltrated The Tower, then what choice do we have?  I do not desire to be bonded by a Sister of...well you get the point.  But I have sworn an oath to my father and family to protect the Sisters of the Tower..." they young man was obviously at a crossroads.  He did not want to end his training in the tower and break his oath but also dared not proceed and be tied to the Shadow, his soul forsaken by the creator.  He stayed put for the time being trying to decide what he should do, follow the newcomers or proceed on toward The Tower.  At a loss for what to do his hand drifted to the fallen's shoulder and he spoke softly for his brother, "Rest now Brother, the watch has ended." tears forming in his eyes as he shut those of his Brother.

Re: In the courtyard
Darek looked at the young man. He could understand his reaction.

"Son, you don't know us; other than a short time but I've traveled with the Sisters who helped against this Fade and will be joining us. You could do far worse than being bonded to either of them."

If the lad had paid attention then he should at least suspect that Darek could channel from the battle, and he should have heard Darek mention linking so their Traveling couldn't be sensed.

Indeed, a male channeler had praised and vouched for Ais Sedai.

Darek looked to the fallen. They were dead too long for him to be able to heal. With the horses ready, while waiting for their luggage, Darek took one of the fallen's swords and beheaded the Fade. Le the Ais Sedai know these brave souls had given their lives defending Tar Valon.

Re: In the courtyard
Nerissa was concerned for Thayna. She did her best to try to ease the pain and disorientation upon the death of Alem, her warder. The two Aes Sedai were already packed and Darek's using a male traveling Weave would confuse the White Tower.

She was not sure about Thayna, but Nerissa herself had learned to create a gateway back in Maradon.

"Kall Asorin! Darek is right to be concerned about those who might come here from the White Tower. You have proved your mettle by facing and triumphing over the Fade. But you must make a choice as to whether to go or stay. Thayna and I would appreciate your help. However, if you have commitments here, we can understand.

You must decide quickly!"

She nodded and smiled when Darek beheaded the Fade. "Now he should stay dead."

Re: In the courtyard
Kail immediately recognized the Domani complexion of the Aes Sedai that the Seafolk woman referenced.  Instantly he was a boy again, his father kneeling beside him pointing to the procession of Domani women leaving with the Aes Sedai, "One day you will be called upon to protect them.  Do our family proud."  The words echoed in his head as he knelt by the fallen warrior.  He stood from where he was and walked slowly towards the two women and knelt down drawing the blade and standing it point down into the ground.  He pressed his fist to his heart and spoke, "My sword and my life are yours my Ladies."  He bowed his head to them awaiting their acceptance and, once received, he sheathed his sword and prepared to depart with them.

Re: In the courtyard
Jennor had observed the conversation thus far in muted silence.  He wanted to say something to Thayna Sedai but he did not know what to say and he knew whatever he did say would be woefully inadequate to the task considering the infamous pain felt when an Aes Sedai lost her bonded Gaidin.

Instead he looked over at Kail and said, "Master Asoryn, I understand your initial instinct to warn the White Tower of the danger.  If I was in your place, being new to this group and knowing perhaps only myself on a personal basis, your initially proposed course of action would have been my own as well.

But... I assure you that the White Tower is aware of the danger, if not the specifics then certainly the general threat here in Tar Valon.

These Aes Sedai and their companions, of whom I count myself as one, have been given a mission by none other than the Amyrlin Seat herself.  Their mission must take precedence and thus my first duty, given to me by the Seat, is to obey their instructions and insure their survival so that their mission may succeed.

While it may seem to go against our training to abandon this scene of tragic violence without first making a formal report, I assure you that the nature of the mission set for these Aes Sedai is such that it is in fact the "best" of several unsavory choices."

Jennor looked over at Thayna and Nerissa as he added, "I can personally vouch for Master Kail Asoryn, for we trained together at the Tower to become Wardens one day.  He is a capable warrior and comes from a proud family tradition of service to the White Tower.  We would do well to avail ourselves of his aid for our mission now that he has offered to join us."

Re: In the courtyard
Thayna knew Alem was gone, the bond ripped asunder. A hole that nothing could fill Her thoughts wandered as she probed that hole in herself.  How that ached.

Gone

"Alem"
she sighed on an exhale soft with an word full of pain and loss.

Bereft and alone in a way that she had never known before.  Missing something Missing Alem tucked into her mind as she was into his-- but not longer. That she had bonded with Alem only this day so few hours ago dud not lessen her loss in anyway. She knelt by Alem even and Kail was checking him out.

Reaching out her hand she placed  one hand on Alem, then the other on Kail's as he tended Alem's body.

"He is gone."  She hears what is being said with one part of her mind, it registers but she cannot seem to process them. Thayna heard Kail's words as she knelt with her by Alem's body. She responds "Thank you." After all she had been taught to be polite to other who offered her something.. She knew that responds was proper, hears the others speak as well but when,  Link and go she heard but she tried to stand up she seemed unable to put words to actions..  She gathered herself again, trying to stand.  It was strange she could think of doing it but not act.

Thayna marshaled her thought and put them to action.  She could not stay here.  They had to get away.  She quickly ran through a novice training trick, to steady her own composer, that brought her some clarity of purpose and connection to their situation.
Thayna gripped Alem's hand with his sword still in his grasp and placed he hand sword ointing towards the dying fade..

They would know.

They would know.

"Would you give me a hind, Kail" she asked "And, thank you."

It is not clear if she was thanking Kail for his offer or his helping her to stand but such still was the state she still found herself in.

Re: In the courtyard
It wasn't hard to gather the horses and pack animal.  Alem had prepared them all and tied them to the hitching posts. Why they needed horses she did not know.  She had run the breath and depth of the ThreepFold Land and almost as far in the Westlands, but Aes Sedai rode and so did their Warders and she counted them less that as Wise Ones and their protectors.  Truly it was strange how the  were treated differently than The Wise Ones.  No one would harm a Wise One regardless of what sept or clan they belonged to.
She moved the horses towards where Darek and Melina stood.

Re: In the courtyard
Kail listened and watched as the other man spoke to him of the Tower and their past dealings with them.  And upon hearing that the Amyrlin herself had tasked this group with a mission, he could not help but feel obligated to help them see it through.  His training was all but complete anyway, now he was really just waiting on a Sister to bond him, there wasn't much more to learn in the Training Yard that couldn't be learned in the real world.  Albeit the lessons would be a little more painful than with the Hammer.  He could remember the man from the Training Yard and knew that if he felt the need they could spar and be more than a match for one another, but that wasn't where his thoughts settled.  After all the Aes Sedai had joined him next to her fallen Warder.

Having already sworn allegiance to them and knowing that she may not need much from him he decided he would help her in whatever way she needed.  Not sure how to respond to her though he placed his hand over hers when she touched his shoulder, and helped her to her feet after noticing her struggle and ask him.  He nodded to her, just short of a bow and said, "No problem my Lady." quietly for her ears.  He watched the others gather up their pack animals and horses and knowing it wouldn't do to leave his behind he paused to make sure Thayna could stand and was steady before he moved over to his horse and freed him from the stable before, reins in hand, he walked over to stand by Thayna in case she had need of him.  He never really settled back into his earlier ease, still a little shaken that the shadow had ventured so close to the tower.  His eyes kept scanning the doors to the stable and the distance beyond as far as he could see watching for any other threats.  He waited until they were ready to leave and would follow the group.

Re: In the courtyard
Darek took the flows of power offered, bolstered even more by the twice bonding of he and Melina and wove a gate large enough for everyone to ride their horses through, should they desire.

The line formed, then rotated and opened within site of a familiar town. Most of the group had joined forces their to thwart Trollocs and Fades and save the lives of the townsfolk.

It would be a good place to plan and possibly gather supplies. It was also close to where Black Ajah had been seen and might be a good starting point for the new Ais Sedai if their mission was what he thought it might be.

When everyone was through, Darek let the weave collapse and the gateway begin to close just enough so that it was open in midair. He tied it off then used a weave of air to stir up the dirt on the other side of the Gateway to obscure not only the line made by the Gateway, but their tracks as well.

He then untied the Gateway and let it snap shut.
