Xion hears the radio chatter, "Well, let's find us a place to catch some shut eye people. A few hours of decent rest, and then we save the world." Xion says with a smile, a smile that any who see can tell is barely brought across his face.

Lotus eases up on the accelerator of her hoverbike and begins looking around for a good spot to stop.  Unless she can see something ideal, she'll keep quiet and just follow Xion to wherever he directs the platoon.

Re: Chapter Three : Ghosts in The Forest

Sharp kept an easy pace as he drove alongside Dead Bolt, scanning his surroundings closely.  Whenever Dead Bolt opened his mouth to say something, he visibly winced and busied himself checking the other flank.  Blake reminded him of some of the other M.O.M. recipients he'd seen while in the service, the guys who reveled in thier nature as "Crazies".  For some it was a facade, they were far too competent in the field to be that far gone, but others were simply eager for something, anything to happen around them, regardless of the consequences.

He never said as much, but he finally guessed that Dead Bolt was probably comming to the close as his fourth year of Juicer-dom.  Too far gone to detox, the guy was probably just looking to go out in a blaze of glory before the chemicals and nanites running through his blood left him an epileptic vegetable.  That he could understand, and even sympathise with to a point...but the man still grated on Sharp's nerves.

Calling in the five minute report while Dead Bolt was considering fuzion block launchers, Sharp slowed a bit as Xion called to find a camp site.

Re: Chapter Three : Ghosts in The Forest

Okom keeps fairly quiet on the first leg of the trip, speaking only to mention specific radio frequencies for his squad, and to do periodic checks.  He seems to be watching and trying to get a feel for the company when it's working, not just fighting.

Van will have been riding shotgun in the ATV, facing backward in his seat, slouched against the dash, looking back toward Arthur from time to time through the window. He will be working on his wrist shield, adding blades to it. He looks focussed, tired, and still angry.

When Xion says that the group will be stopping ahead he looks forward to the rest.

When everyone begins to slow down, Mithas will slow down as well.  Looking/listening for the scouting part to suggest an area to set up camp.  He will look around to see if he can already spot a possible site.  And looking for trouble in the shadows...

Re: Chapter Three : Ghosts in The Forest

Arven only nodded to Xion after their talk but the nod was an affirmative one which is at least a step in the right direction. He too stayed quiet for the trip not only because he figures nobody really wants to talk to him but because it is stupid to try and yell over all the noise being made by the hovercycles and the A.T.V. He does of course have a radio but he keeps it in his pack mostly. The one thing he does do while riding along is finish his bottle of Mezcal. By the time the platoon finds a suitable camping spot he is more than ready to sleep. After securing his mount he limps over to a nice spot of grass, lays down, and does just that.

Re: Chapter Three : Ghosts in The Forest

Beadbolt goes to the camp as well.
"I can stand first watch if you want, hell Ill stand all the watch's except for the last one, I dont really sleep anymore".

Deadbolt has to much juice running thru him and sleep dosent even seem like a good idea to him, if he could he wouldnt ever sleep, mabey if he upped his dosage he would have to, that would be a good idea he thought.

"Could we make a fire and do some cooking thou, I am starving..

"Also, do we have a weapons engineer in the group, ive got some great ideas about a fusion block launcher out of a boom gun, and I think I know a way to do it".

"I don't think we brought any cooks with us juice-boy. Rats are all we get from this point on I think, you'll have to cook yourself if you want warm food. But could you make me some while you're at it..."

Re: Chapter Three : Ghosts in The Forest

And just like /last/ night, Masque goes to work once the scout team have selected somewhere suitable to rest up for the night... For all his talk of people being tired, there'd be no way to know it from the way his muscular frame sets to with a trenching tool and an infantryman's eye for terrain, carefully selecting a couple of places to stick folks on watch (assuming Xion doesn't take care of that detail) and generally doing his best to ensure that if the campsite isn't actively /overlooked/ it might at least be considered rather less well-guarded than it actually is.

"Probably best to see if Hornboy will heat food for you inside vehicle - cut down on thermal emission, da? - do not want to light any more of beacon than have to with Facists probably hiding in next clearing over."

Okom busies himself helping Silvermasque set up the camp.  Though not quite as frenetic as the large tiger, he works with a quiet efficiency that suggests he's done this sort of thing often enough for it to be routine.

While moving about the camp, he stops to have a quick word with Van,

Re: Chapter Three : Ghosts in The Forest

Deadbolt, still up, always up.... takes a look at the group he travels with.  A good bunch of warriors he thinks to himself..He can remember before he descided to get juiced.  He had never seen the ravages or war, death, famine, disease...War was a horrible thing no matter who was right or who was wrong..but, somewhere perhaps the juice changed that..He no longer saw war as what is was, a machine that could only destroy but, he saw it as a way to do battle, to turn his body into a machine that had a goal..to burn itself out fighting and killing....Vicotry, was all that matter,, to be in the thick of battle the smell and cry of pain for some reason gave Deadbolt the push beyond what the drugs could do, behind perhaps his own self loathing.....

As the thought continued a shot of juice on a timer shot a dose thru his body stopping all thoughts of whatever it was he was thinking about..

He felt good, STONG, TOUGH...

"HEY, he yelled at the Minitour..."ME AND YOU ARM WRESTLING MATCH"..

OOC- I voulntered to stand all the watch's except for the last one.  So if you want just continue in the morning but..I am going to attempt to arm wrestle the minitour if he lets me regardless..

Re: Chapter Three : Ghosts in The Forest

Arthur will get out of his armor, which he will 'park' near to the atv, careful to keep it concealed under the poncho and atv.    He'll then stroll over to where the Juicer and Minotaur are going to arm wrestle.  He's got an old-style rifle slung over his shoulder.  You can assume that its a remi-model of an old-west weapon.

Looking around for a place to arm wrestle a fallen tree trunk or stump will suffice.  Mithas walks over to it with a grin on his face.

Re: Chapter Three : Ghosts in The Forest

"Sorry..." calls out the Tiger as he's thigh-deep in a firing trench that's been excavated in four-handed fashion with commendable efficiency and shored up with a couple of swiftly vibro-trimmed wooden supports. Two shovels and the impressively supernatural strength of a trained infantryman obviously go a long way (but even so he's plainly grateful for the Amerind's assistance).

"Only thing worth gambling with is life, da? - besides, I prefer to reserve luck for when truly matters..." - he gives a dry sort of chuckle, eyei... visoring Lotus from the corner of his vision...

He then sets back to work...

[ Right... well, I guess it would be worthwhile to enumerate things... I currently envisage three trenches about three-five feet deep for hiding in - since it's the work of mere minutes to use a vibro-tool to shore 'em up with wood... but we're not talking comfortable and polished here... throw in a couple of scrapes a couple of feet deep for throwing yourself in in the event of artillery... and a few logs stacked up here and there to set your back to or provide soft cover. Masque would so have made a great Legionary. ^_^ ]

(OOC for the arm wrestle, each of you roll a 20 sided dice here. Then add your strength. Whoever has a higher total, the majority of three seperate rolls wins the wrestle. (best out of 3))

It seems Saila is "better" now at dealing with Silvermasque. She has avoided Arven however.

Re: Chapter Three : Ghosts in The Forest

Masque turns to smile - in a way that doesn't make too big a thing of the rows of silvery teeth concealed in that muzzle - when the nondescript Mystic approaches...

"Khorosho... Is first principle of being infantryman..."

He states, crouching slightly so as to not tower too badly over her, as one hand dips into the front of his earth-spattered battle-dress jacket to draw out a 'small' silver cross on a chain, which he lightly thumbs for luck before returning...

"Pray to God, youbet... but keep rowing to shore..."

In other words (if it needs explaining) - the almighty most helps those who are willing to put a little bit of elbow grease in on their own accord.

Re: Chapter Three : Ghosts in The Forest

Xion's words bring the Tiger's shovel up to his shoulder to rest for a moment, as he makes a dismissive gesture with one upper hand...

"Stop, you will make blush like little girl, yes? - Is no great thing... have fought many times, many places... and have sat in bottom of enough foxholes clutching self and praying for things to stop as often as have charged through hail of shrapnel towards foe..."

There's a deep, vibrating chuckle once more - perhaps at the thought of having survived so much foolishness and violence, perhaps at the notion that it's so easy to admit to having been scared once you realise that there's nothing at all shameful in it.

"Besides - is pure selfish too - I am strong physically yes, but am only one man... am not army - are things I cannot do, and more I cannot do alone... my strength in battle is only as great as that of allies - is in my best mercenary interests to keep friends..." - he looks over most of the group, minus a certain gunslinger - "And allies alive... besides..." - he grins this time, in a distinctly gleaming fashion... "Army would be much duller place without mystical Saila and pretty little Lotus..."
