Re: CS Scouting Party

The scouting party moves off ahead, closer to the farm. There are still no signs of any enemy forces anywhere. The farm appears completely abandoned.

Mutt stays back from the scouting element about 10 feet or so (closer to 15). He moves quitely as he is attempting to sniff out the enemy.. Literally. He is using hte terrain as much as possible, moving up to cover the team as the cross open areas, he was in his element here, stalking prey rooting out practitioners of magic. Mutt wasn't the wild pup he was back at the base, a calmness settled over him. Advancing with his weapon at the "low Ready" position bringing it to the "High Ready" position often to get the blood pumping to his arm muscles, Mutt would perform SLLS (Stop, Look, listen and Smell) every couple of hundered of feet or so.

Re: CS Scouting Party

Sarai kept everyone within line of sight as they moved, communicating through hand-and-arm signals. She kept a particularly close eye on Mutt and Nora, as they possessed magic-sensing abilities she did not.

Assuming that nothing went wrong along the way, once they reached the parameter of the farm, they stopped and gathered close together to exchange reports on anything that the others might not have noticed, and determine the next course of action. "All right, lets go ahead and sweep around the farm's parameter. Stay low, and let's see if we can determine the status of those people on the poles. Any thoughts?" Sarai asked, quietly. She was clearly looking for input for the others on the team.

OOC: Nagoya is in the lead, about 50-100ft ahead (depending on the density of trees). The rest are spread-out, but otherwise together. Everyone is always within line-of-sight to each other.

We travel until we come to the treeline around the farm.

Yes, we are prowling.

After making it about 400 feet from the main group Nora stops and kneels, staring intently ahead towards the farm.

"I can sense two supernatural beings up ahead, actively using their abilities. Probably demonic or supernatural look-outs. They are approximately 1900 feet straight ahead..."

"Shit. That didn't take long." Sarai muttered under her breath as she signaled everyone to stop. If the targets were 1,900 feet ahead, that meant they were 2,300 feet from the platoon. Less than half a mile. "Everyone hold your positions and monitor them from here. I'll get back in range to send a telepathic message to the main group."

That said, Sarai quietly moved 100ft back toward the main group and reached-out to Jericho with a telepathic message.

Re: CS Scouting Party

Returning to the group after having sent her message, Sarai calls everyone back into a rough huddle. "Okay, Jericho knows the situation. Nora and Mutt, I want you two to lead us around the supernaturals. We need to be at their flank if the rest of the unit decides to engage." She nodded and looked in the vague direction of their targets. "Okay. Now let's go get a look at these things. Move out."

Mutt nods his head yes. He waited for Nora to responde before he placed himself on her flank. Letting the Psi-Stalker take lead, He was close enough to her to react to any danger to her.

"'Active powers' sounds like invisibility to me. Not so sure about that 'look'," Nagoya goes toward the proposed flank, this time keeping only a 15ft lead and looking back frequently to check in with the walking sensors. "I'm switching to thermal."

Nora leads the group wide around the detected supernatural guards, to come in from the north east.

"They are patrolling, once they are heading back towards the west we should have a few minutes to enter the structures, before they patrol up east again. There is another pair patrolling on the east side, but we still have our window. I will announce when they are far out, and we can move in without being noticed by the patrol guards. And you're right, they are probably invisible."

"No one's entering anything." Sarai said, a little annoyed. "We've found hostiles. The next step is to move-up and get a closer look at the farm. I want to determine the status of those people on the poles, and get an idea where the hostiles are located on the property. Then we'll report back to the lieutenant." Sarai made sure to look at everyone, insuring they all heard her. "We might take a look in the windows, but that's it. We're a scouting party, not an assault team. Understood?"

She gestured towards the farm. "Now lets move." She said, making it clear there would be no discussion.

Re: CS Scouting Party

The group moves forward, relying on Nora's sensing abilities to let them know when they are clear to move closer.

The scout group is able to move up hundreds of feet, but is forced to stop for 7 minutes and wait silently for the invisible patrols to move off again.

The people on the poles are wearing Coalition military uniforms - the type work under body armour. They are all infantry, a few are PA pilots. All but 4 of them are still alive, although half-concsious. The dead ones have been gutted...

Re: CS Scouting Party

"Fucking Tolkeen bastards... and they wonder why Lazlo isn't helping them." Sarai growled under her breath. She looked at the others, particularly Nora and Mutt. "All right. We circumnavigate the perimeter once. We'll use all of our senses to gather as much intel as possible. Magical fields, number of supernaturals, locations of guards. As much as we can without blowing cover." Sarai said, an edge of renewed determination lined her words. "Once that's done, Nora, I want you and Nagoya to head back to the platoon and report on what we found. Mutt and I will remain here, hunker-down, and make sure these bastards don't kill any more of our guys." She took a small breath. "If anyone has a better plan... or a better way to communicate with the lieutenant without breaking radio silence, now's the time to speak up."

Re: CS Scouting Party

Mutt feels the rage building up inside of him, seething with anger at the loss of those soldiers, sorta like his pack.. "'wait, keep a cool head" a voice sounding like his old Psi-Stalker "Time for vengence is later Mutt, don't go off half cocked. Focus on the task at hand, remember your training Private 009345, first we find the sources of magic, feel for them, they are out there. Do you feel them? yes you do now take note where they are and how many signatures there are. Good next step draw a mental picture in your head on where they are so your new Psi-Stalker can get a better fix on them. Reach out and tell her where they are." the voice in Mutt's head stopped talking long enough for Mutt to try to get a sense of what the scouting party was facing.

Mutt's anger was too strong for him to get a good read on anything. The voice came back upon him, "Mutt your not like the others, your one of my pack, we don't go off like mindless angry beast with no direction or purpose. Anger is good when used at the right time, this isnt the time Mutt, calm down." The voice in his head was hers again talking to him almost like a mother but more as a carring compainion "Avenge me the right way, dont go off and get your new pack killed like you did before. Try it again Mutt this time with breath out slowly feel your surroundings sense the engery see the ripples of energy". With renewed vigour Mutt tries to calm down and feel the enemy presence.

OOC First Attempt failed. 23:13, Today: Mutt rolled 93 using 1d100. Sense Supernatural Beings 62%.

23:20, Today: Mutt rolled 1 using 1d100. Sense Supernatural Beings 62%.

Re: CS Scouting Party

-denied for Nagoya, that works too. On with the show! -

The full perimeter patrol is completed without issue, or apparent detection. Nora reports they have 2 invisible beings patrolling on each side of the 'property'. (The property is in regards to the house and both barns).

An obvious juicer walks out of the house at one point to piss against the wall, and clean his nostrils - farmer's style. He notices nothing and re-enters the house.

In between the patrols the squad is able to get closer to the buildings. There are 8 or 9 supernatural beings inside the long barn, and another 8 in the short barn. There are 2 magic users in the house, and 3 in the short barn. This is all that is detected in addition to the patrol units mentioned earlier.

 - Earlier orders have Nora and Nagoya heading back to the main group. You two can post over there whenever ready - no need to wait.

Re: CS Scouting Party

All along the perimeter reconoiter Nora was collecting bits of material to incorporate into her ghillie suit. It started off rather sparse and barely served to break up her outline but now it is complete with local plant life and she blends in quite well. Of course in this war such mundane means of hiding is not always that effective. Still she is the only survivor from her last squad and it is not because she fled the field of battle. On her way back with Nagoya she stops by Mutt. Easy... relax...slow deep breaths and think about what you are about to do. Plan on how you will unleash death on these scum. These are the ones that killed our packs. Even if not directly it is ones like them. We will paint our face with their blood. Remember... concentrate on the mages and avoid the demons as hard as that might be. I will be back."

Vassea waits for Nora to pacify the wolfman. Then telepathically to Nora: "Call out anything coming our way. I'll be here in the grass."

She makes her way back up to the group. She stays out 20ft ahead of Nora, keeping her eyes peeled, while the Psi-Stalker's senses were out well beyond that.

OOC: The DM said you two (Nagoya and Nora) can post in the main thread whenever.

After watching Vassea and Nora leave, Sarai and Mutt made their way over to a good hiding spot where they could monitor the status of the captured CS soldiers. "When the attack comes." Sarai told Mutt. "I'm going to throw up a telekinetic barrier around them, and then do what I can to secure them medically. I expect you will be joining the others in the assault." She said, almost absently. She would have preferred that he help her get the soldiers off the poles, but the kill hound was much better suited joining the fight as soon as it started, rather than helping her on a mission of mercy while guns blazed all around them.
