Re: Scouting Party

Tyirrak kicked his hovercycle into a higher speed, doing so with care so he didnt break off the throttle. He pointed at Takamatsu, who had already pulled away from the rest of 2nd platoon, and gestured for him to follow him.

The Lanotaur reached the coordinates swiftly, and swerved his Bobcat around to await the other scouts arrival. A quick briefing would be required, and then they would have to get back on the move.

Re: Scouting Party

Finally.  A task to which he is emininently suited, and thankfully these gaijan soldiers are smart enough to take advantage of that fact.

Shutting down his hovercycle, he dismounts and collects his light weapons, checking to ensure they are strapped down securely enough to not rattle or drag to give away his position.  They are, of course, as a matter of standard for him, but making sure is as much of a tradition as the others under which he operates.

Loping easily over to the oversized army sergeant who was 'leading' this scouting mission, he bow slightly to the lanotaur before freezing into immobility, waiting for the others to gather.

Re: Scouting Party

Fearless dismounts his hovercycle, grabs his rifle, and leaves his excess equipment. He nods to Mithas, and salutes to Xion. He walks alongside Silvermasque on his way to Tyirrak.

Caramon leaves his hovercycle next to his brother. He nods to Dalamar before joining the rest of the scouting party.

Re: Scouting Party

'Masque heads up alongside Fearless, still carrying most of his field kit - it doesn't noticably slow him any and the bulk is quite manageable when one takes into account his own sheer massive size.

"This going to be scout with speed, or scout with quiet?" the huge inhuman creature asks, lightly tapping with a silver-clawed thumb the heavy slabs of protective armour currently serving him as a defence - their weight too, he bears without effort, but they're not really... stealthy.

Re: Scouting Party

"Both, hopefully," Takamatsu says quietly.  "An ambush will serve us not at all if we are discovered before it is implemented, nor if our information does not beat the convoy itself to the ambush site."  There is, after all, a reason he's left his hovercycle behind.  Swift, certainly; stealthy, not significantly so.

Re: Scouting Party

"Stealth. You specifically will be providing armed backup if the situation becomes immediately dangerous, as well as helping extract any that are discovered. So you will be holding yourself further back, out of sight unless we require your assistance. Caramon will serve beside you, as he seems to be able to perform his reconaissance at quite a distance. Takamatsu and myself will be moving as directly close to the caravan as possible. Magnet Man and Fearless will be running interferance as well as reconaissance at a slightly further distance. This, in Magnet's case might involve some random magnetic effects. If polarizing sensors or fouling up sensitive electronics on passing vehicles or armors is possible, I want him to do it, provided it is discreet enough to seem to be only regular malfunctions. As a backup plan, I want explosives planted either in the path of the convoy, or if possible on the fringe of the conoy itself, to provide another distraction if sudden escape is required." Tyirrak replied, immediately launching into his briefing as soon as everyone was present.

"Speed will be required for the escape. Your report states you can travel at high speeds with passengers, and as we're going to try and travel by foot to the convoy, this will be of use. As it will also if I need you to get Magnet Man, Fearless and Caramon moving if we are discovered. I will not require such assistance, and I suspect Takamatsu will likewise not require it."

Re: Scouting Party

"I can outrun even some hovercycles if I have good, clear run..." 'Masque reports thoughtfully, unslinging his pack and looking for a second or two at the grenade launchers he's just picked up and setting them with the pack - this isn't a high-firepower operation he's about to embark upon. "But with armour, I am not too quiet. Without I am sneaky as next man - more so if next man is Arven."

"I have better sensory acuity than anyone else here, except for sense of smell" - there's a huge silvery grin - "Burned out on too many chilli dishes..." he confides as an aside, "Am pretty much blank to psychics unless they get real close - But I have no active sensors... no radar, lidar or other fancy 'r's..."

"So... armour on or off, and you want me to bring big guns or just usual sidearm?" - he lightly pats the NG Plasma cannon that just about no-one outside of a Mauler would even consider referring to in such a fashion.

"How quiet are you without your armor?" Tyirrak asked.

"And how much communication range do you have?"

"I have integral sound dampening, insulated systems... when I go stealth-active I am thermally neutral - all usual modifications for infiltration 'Cyborg, I am just little bigger than usual is all." replies 'Masque, before going onto part two of the question... "As for comms - me and another 'Borg can hold conversation three, four hundred feet apart without radio. Radio range is only twenty miles though - in good conditions."

"And you can make sure a giant white tiger doesnt stick out in the forest? I think it would be better if you were out of sight, but within range for extraction." Tyirrak replied after a moment of thought, his face inscrutable inside his helmet.

"That is what ghillie suit is for, yes?" he replies cheerfully, slapping his chasis once more, "I guarantee is no-one in team can sit as still as I can for as long... but is still best place to put me further back providing cover - I am packing more firepower than any other scout we have... is good to have fast reinforcement to cover retreat."

Takamatsu stirs slightly, then slips back into his customary 'inanimate' immobility, all the more evident for the contrast.  He might have something to say about the cyborg's claim, but if so, he instead holds his tongue.

"Sorry Tyirrak," Magnet Man says, "but I have to be really close - 30 ft - in order to create interference. The closer I am to the enemy, the more I can do."

"And if I cloak you in Invisibility, the dog-boys and psi-stalkers will sniff it out in an instant. Out of the question." Tyirrak replied, "Unless you happen to be very very very skilled at the conventional means of stealth, and can hide your thermal signature."
