Re: Part 65c - Diplomatic relations
Berd stares, fascinated, as the Archon...makes an attempt. A good one, as it turns out - metaphoric, symbolic. Powerful in its simplicity. He nods slowly at Raziel's explanation, his eyes burning with barely leashed interest. Where will the Archon go from here? What runs through its alien mind?
Indeed. Future travellers will come, will see this piece you have created. They will study it. Consider the implications. Place their own views upon it, some of which will no doubt nearly mirror your own. Awash with curiousity, they will wonder about its creator, how the artist might have captured something that resonates so with their spirits.
There is more to the worlds than simple physics, matter, and energy flow, and yet the patterns echo throughout it all. 'As above, so below.' You have captured this truth here.
Then the archon takes it a step further, replacing the original carven stone, and Berd falls silent. There is poetry here, and the herenethi...amazed, Berd realizes Raziel has the eye of an artist.
What you have created... Berd flits about it, but does not intrude upon the design by landing. Some may come, drawn by the sound. And I think when they see what has been wrought here, they will bring more - to study, to interpret. He chose wisely with the world, Berd sees - in another place, the new sculpture might be torn away for a museum, or reworked into its original shape to 'preserve tradition'. But this is Escher.
I thank you, Raziel, for your forebearance. You have taught me much, and for this I am grateful. The drake cocks his head, landing upon a branch. I hope to speak to you again in the future, that I may learn more. And that I may see more of your art.
No empty words. From Raziel, Berd has relearned hope.
