Re: Time Out Called.

Wow!  Great stuff between Kallika and Jack!  I love it!

I've been following and not posting because I have little to post except "Cyan watches everyone with [insert appropriate gem of choice here] eyes", or "Cyan says something vaguely on-topic, but can't think of anything else".  For now.

So I'm just enjoying! :)  Also the interesting conversations between Aaron and Arianne, as well as Lexy's thoughts...Lexy, come back! :)

Re: Time Out Called.

Well, I'm glad to see that the game is slowing down a little, as I've been stricken with a common cold. I'll be a little slow in the next few days. >P

I will keep an eye on the boards, though. As I'm able.

Thank God for the "Sword of Truth", Morrowind, and Sudafed. x_x
Oh, and Fridays off.

Glad you guys like. I was hoping for something with a face concealed by the shadow of a cloak or something, but this came the closest.

Poor, blind Chunchee girl? Sure Jack... something like that ;)

Well, I guess I'll be the voice of descent here, Kali.l I actually prefer your old pic. This one just seems too light and happy to be Kali. But that's just me.

Re: Time Out Called.

I’ll let you decide if his flip makes contact or not Cyan.

I don’t know Lexy it may not be as feral, but Jack has never seen Kali as a dark sort. Even her last pic was not dark. What’s more her personality is surprisingly light and playful. . . In a wolfish kind of way.

Okay how about poor seeing everyone else Kali? That work?

I figured out some sound tracks for Jack.

The Beatles (No where man)
Ah-ha (Stranger train of thought)
Peter Shillings (Major Tom) “Coming Home”

Okay so I’m slow.

Re: Time Out Called.

Oh, the flip will hit.  I'm of the first series idea when it comes to warfare - it doesn't make you a god (not like the 'Benedict Cannot Be Surprised By Invisible Assassins While Drunk and On the Toilet' second series idea).

I've always seen Kallika much like certain warrior types of long past.  Grim, yes, but the sense of humour is always there, and playful even when she gets the chance...because when you live life like that, you take it when you can get it. :)

Nice soundtracks, Jack...A-ha?  That takes me back. :)

I'll stick with what I had. :)

Re: Time Out Called.

Then you missed out on Scoundrel Days, which is sad. . . I believe Cry Wolf was on there. It wasn’t as good as their first album but it was still a keeper and better than many bigger names.

But yes Hunting High and Low
And Scoundrel days

Scoundrel Days would be another good one for Jack come to think of it.

Yes I’m good today, I’m being lazy. ;-)

Re: Time Out Called.

Good morning, Jack!

That would be the Chiropractor.  :)  Every two weeks, these days.  I get it cheap, and my work insurance takes care of most of the rest.

I have had a poor back since before my teens.  Now, sometimes when I stay too long away from Kung Fu, my back really seizes up.  And sometimes when some huge Kung Fu brother manhandles me, my back...well, you get the idea. :)

These days, I'm sticking to light, slow sparring to work on technique.  It seems to cut down on the injuries...back and otherwise.  I find that going regularly to the chiro keeps my back moving smoothly.

Re: Time Out Called.

I used to go to a chiropractor, way back when, and man, it certainly did good stuff for me. My particular chiropractor was certainly a genuinely gifted doctor.

But, I lack insurance at the moment, soo... :P

Re: Time Out Called.

Morning Cyan,

Yes I have a good Chiro down here, but I don’t have to use him that often. Despite the fact that I stand all wrong “I slouch.” I sleep wrong “On my stomach.” and a thousand other stupid things I have done in my life. I only have to go once or twice a year and I have not been in the last year or two. I think it has to do with either that farm upbringing, or just the size of my bones “Got that huge Germanic  frame.” I just don’t have much problem with my back, bones and joints. Lucky me.

Funny thing, now that you mention it, when I did have the most problems was when I was sparring all of the time. My knee was always messing up and my hands were knarled from hitting odd. Pinky knuckles were larger than most of the others from swelling.  I had aches and pains on my aches and pains. :p

That’s just anouther reason why Tai Chi and Aikido sound good, soft arts, arts where they put you back together as they take you apart.

Re: Time Out Called.

Lucky...good genetics are often the key to good health.  :)  I am hardly large and germanic... :)

Sparring is a little rough on the joints, but at least you get a bit more (bit!) of an approximation of fighting.  It preps you for getting hit, at least, and shows you some serious holes (unless you're doing point sparring, which in no way approximates fighting).  I'm throttling back because I was getting hurt a bit too often (I'm 'not the largest' in the class :), and we don't use pads or gloves), and the groundwork was starting to wrench my back and other things.

I know what you mean - my knee injury comes from sparring, I have a permenent injury in the back from a guillotine choke during sparring (my partner applied, realized he was grappling with me, and panicked), and yes, lots of swollen fingers (but that could also be from practicing with wooden knives, and sticks).

Still, I've looked at statistics.  I have a friend who plays golf.  She has massive back problems, and shoulder/wrist issues.  I knew people who played hockey - they have much worse long term problems than I.  And football...ugh.

Martial arts is rated pretty high in terms of safety and long term injuries, simply because you're fighting with professionals (none of us spar with beginners - you never, ever spar with a beginner.  It's too easy to get badly hurt).  Since the fighting is the point, it's regulated.

Unfortunately, like any 'sport', injuries will occur (especially when you're small, and the big guys dribble you around the Kwoon).

There's a very good Taiji teacher here in town (fighting Taiji, not just health, Chen style), but I'm sticking with what I have for now.  I'll wait until I'm a little older. :)  I love my style, I love my club, I love my Kung Fu brothers and sisters, and I love sifu (who is also pretty knowledgable about putting me back together...).  :)  When I'm old(er) and (more) decrepit, I'll go to Kee Hong's school.  I agree with you - I absolutely ADORE chen Taiji.  :)

Re: Time Out Called.

The times are-a-changin', and price raising at the two (or more likely, three, counting the TKD dojo down the street) dojos nearby was expected. Hence one of the reasons I still haven't joined the Aiki dojo that's practically next door.

But I must admit. Something in me must really want to join, because I wake up every morning thinking about it. I've been living here for almost two years, and I've thought about it ever since I moved here.

Methinks I should check it out soon. :P
