Hex: Hex location of the system on the subsector map. The first two digits show a horizontal coordinate from 01 to 08, the second two a vertical coordinate from 01 to 10. Each hex is 1 parsec (3.22 light years) across.
Name: System name, usually the name of the main world.
UWP: Universal World Profile: a string of code digits which represent the details of the mainworld, in the following order:
Starport Class
World size
Atmosphere Type
Hydrographics
Population
Government Type
Law Level
Tech Level
See below for details.
B: Base Code. Describes any military or other bases in the system. See below.
Remarks: Two letter codes which describe any aspects of the system which might have an effect on trade, inter-system relationships, etc... See below.
Z: TAS defined travel zones.
Red Zones are interdicted systems. All or part of the system will be off-limits to traffic.
Amber Zones are systems where local conditions represent some damger to visitors. Caution is advised when visiting such systems.
PPG: Population, Planetoids, Gas Giants.
Population: the multiplier used in conjunction with the code from the UWP to give a more accurate figure.
Planetoids: the number of planetoid belts in the system. If the listed mainworld is itself a belt, then this number represents additional belts.
Gas Giants: the number of gas giant type planets in the system. Gas giants are an important source of free fuel for ships that can scoop hydrogen from their atmospheres and refine it.
Al: Alliance code for the system. See below.
Code Explanations
STARPORTS
Code Facilities
A Excellent quality port. Refined fuel, overhaul/repair bays, full shipyard.
B Good quality port. Refined fuel, overhaul/repair bays, limited shipyard (non-starships only).
C Routine quality port. Unrefined fuel, limited repair facilities.
D Poor quality port. Unrefined fuel, no repair facilities.
E Frontier port. No fuel, no repair facilities. Just a cleared area for landing.
X No starport. Often a Red travel zone.
