Re: Mission 4 - A Roundhouse Kick

If you had to take a guess who Michaela was talking about when she mentioned two clerics, you'd have guessed it was Cyrus.  You'd have been right, but just in case, the obvious three lightning bolts tattooed on his neck gave him away.  When the floor was turned to him, he looked back at Michaela and cocked his head to the side.  "Yes father, I'll tell them."

Cyrus seems to zone back in.  "Talos says he'll grant his favor when it is appropriate."  He smiles darkly.

Xavier gave the oher cleric a dark glare at the ogre comment but says nothing although his glare could have felled the man where he stood.

"I cannot stop him from applying magic on any of you im no mage."

Dog remains silent in the exchange.  His position has already been determined.  Now he just listened for knowledge that might make his job easier.

Re: Mission 4 - A Roundhouse Kick

And so without anymore questions on the table, Cabo let everyone do their thing for the night.  As an elf, he didn't require sleep, and so he took watch the entire night.  When sun broke, he already had camp packed up, and was waiting for everyone to get ready.

The Death Knight's tomb was right where he said it was, on a small fairly dry hill in the middle of a swamp.  It was guarded by thick forest trees and naturally high grass.  The entrance a stairwell down.  As soon as you passed fully below ground you were immediately bombarded with the scent of earth and death.

The stench of death got so sickening you thought you were going to puke.  (DC13 Fort Save to resist puking) After a brief hesitation you moved onward.  Passing into the tomb, Cabo led the way.  He stopped in his tracks the moment four torches on the wall sparked to life.

You had a brief second before something sitting in the throne hissed.  "You will die." It was one of the creepiest moments ever.  (DC15 Will save to avoid being shaken)

<IMG src=http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e136/TheDevilTiger/DeathKnightTomb.jpg>

OOC - Okay kids.  It's pretty self explanatory.  Fan out and pick your spot somewhere near the entrance.  The Death Knight is in the throne.  Each space is 5'  The dead things are Trolls, singed to ash.  Have fun. :D

Re: Mission 4 - A Roundhouse Kick

Michaela wasn't even phased by the stench, moving down into the tomb at the front of the group. She lived with thieves and murderers, worked as an enforcer for a crimelord. Death didn't worry her in the least. Other peoples' deaths, at any rate.

The voice of the Knight, however, affected her deeply. She thought she'd been ready for this... but it was only her second encounter with the restless dead, and this time it had a will of its' own.

"Y-you'll burn, first!" She yelled, the slight stammer ruining her attempt to overcome fear with bravado as she moved around to stand near the first torch on the left-hand side of the room [J2]. Calling her power helped, but her control was badly shaken and it was hit-and-miss whether the fiery blast was powerful enough to breach the horrid creatures' magic resistance.

As the decend went on Xavier felt the snake from last night boil up inside of him and he was just fast enough to pull open his visor before he doubled over and vomited his diner and light breakfast out onto the ground. He was so occupied with retching he missed the things threaths and was not impressed by it.

Re: Mission 4 - A Roundhouse Kick

Dog looked around at the approach to the place.  It wasn't good.  He had been around a lot of fights, a lot of pain.  He had even been around dead people after fights.  But this was different.  This was death.  Old death.  He moved through the area wary and cautious.

He was worried when he made it to the temple of the death knight.  When he made is threat, Dog just shook it off and began knocking arrows.  Loosing the first one in the blink of an eye, the second was on its way as he returned the threat, "Yeah, you first!"

Re: Mission 4 - A Roundhouse Kick

Michaela is first to act, hurling a bolt of fire at.  But the knight stood, extending both arms outwards.  It took the bolt dead center in the middle of it's eerie black chestplate and laughed a dark, sinister tone of mockery.  "Muawhahahahahaha...haha..hah.ha"

Next, the knight brought it's blade, touching the hilt to it's long dead heart. "Pathetic." It pointed the sword in Michaela's direction and...

Editor's Note - I love keeping the party in suspense. :P  No, seriously, go check the OOC thread.

Re: Mission 4 - A Roundhouse Kick

Michaela saw the blast coming at her and threw up a protective sheet of her own fire to try and absorb the power of the blast...

Which cut through her feeble shield like a hot knife through butter, striking her solidly in the centre of her chest.

Re: Mission 4 - A Roundhouse Kick

The blast of evil flame from the fallen paladin circled around the room twice before coming down directly on top of Michaela's head before exploding outwards.  Michaela's charred body took two steps forward and collapsed with a splatter.  A single outstretched hand burst into red flame and then fizzled.

Cabo appeared directly behind the Knight and stabbed it twice, both of his daggers protruding from the kidney area.  The attacks didn't even seem to stagger the armored undead.

Dog's arrows came next, and he had a clear shot.  The first arrow caught the death knight right in the eye socket.  Too bad the shot was aimed for Cabo's throat.

Xavier, seeing, in a flash of white light, a phantom black gauntlet behind Michaela, quickly yanks up the body before trying to run out.

And that's when lightning struck...one of the pillars.  Using a bolt of lightning from one of his magical javalins, Cyrus hit the pillar holding up part of the ceiling.  It started rumbling.

It was when everybody ran...

And that is the story Dog was sticking to.  He getting out first only had to do with him being closest to the exit and not that he started running even before the lightning bolt struck.  "Well, Cabo, got any more fun trips for us planned?  I can't wait to hear them."

Michaela, still held by Xavier, groaned weakly. She was unconcious, but miraculously still alive... perhaps her own close ties to fire had protected her in some way. Her life was entirely in the Cleric's hands, however...

Re: Mission 4 - A Roundhouse Kick

Holding the charred body of Michaela in his hands in the relative safetey of the outside of the Tomb he placed her down gently. He placed his gaunleted hand on her irregular moving chest and closed his eyes murmering softly.

"Great Bane ruler of all. Grant your follower the power to restore the health of this body so she can live longer in fear of the only true god and realize the error of not bowing down to the only true god."

Xavier opens his eyes as he feels the power of the healing energies flow through him and restore the burned tissue to its normal undamaged state.

Re: Mission 4 - A Roundhouse Kick

As the horrendous damage started to retreat, Michaela's eyes opened and she stared straight through Xavier.

"Lord Kossuth.." She whispered, reaching up to touch Xavier's face, then dropping her hand as she realised her mistake. "No... I'm not dead... you brought me back." She sat up, avoiding headbutting him carefully and checking herself. Her clothes were ruined, but they had revealed what she wore beneath the top layer. A chain shirt, hanging halfway down her thighs, with shin-guards as well. It was made of some light metal, possibly mithral, and seemed to flow and ripple like a candle flame in a breeze as she moved. "Why?" She looked at the cleric.

Dog looks down impassively at the healing and then what Michaela figures out.  He corrects her, "No, he wants you for something maybe." He stands there with his arms crossed eyeing the group he has recently met and started traveling with considering his options.  He is frowning and the muscles in his cheeks are flexing.

Re: Mission 4 - A Roundhouse Kick

Xavier smiles as he feels the divine power flow through him and is probably the most shocked person to see the black gaunlet lying behind him. Bane really wanted this person to live and with that his witty remark that he wanted to reply with was instantly gone as he bend down to look at the gaunlet not daring to touch it.

"Dead people can not serve in fear of the only true god. Thank him for your life by at least respecting him for it was his hand that snatched you away from deaths  gate."

[Private to GM: I hope that that was a good enoug answer. Sadly enough i only have a lil bit of info on Bane and know he prefers people alive so thay can fear him,]
