I now have fruiting drug resistant pneumonia, one lung is operating at 30%, the other at 50%, on intravenous anti-bac plus other drug cocktails, taking blood every 6 hours, ugh.

Re: Vents

If you send an rtj, and the GM replies, have you read the rules?  Then stating that you must have missed something really isn't an impressive response.  Better might be to go read the thread to see what you missed. Since, yes, obviously you did miss something and the GM is trying to be nice to you.  And when it's confirmed, yes, you have missed something and you say okay bye, that pretty much assures you'll never play in one of that GM's games in the future.  Oh, and saying thank you before you leave, really just makes you look worse.

Re: Vents

This Stupid Fraggin' job that I am stuck in.  I am given a project last thursday or friday, told it is hot and that I need to have a concept done by tuesday.  Ok no problem except for the fact that a whole bunch of other stuff keeps getting put in front of it.  The concept is really due in less than 8 working hours, I literally have next to nothing done on it, and I am working on something else that got pushed ahead of it.

Re: Vents

My boss' boss gave a public strategy presentation (completely crazy) and then said: "If somebody would do things differently, please let me know".
I explained to my boss why his boss was completely crazy (and he agreed in principle) and I told him what we should do (and he agreed in principle).
Then he told me that our challenge is to manage the (wrong) strategy in order to make it a success anyway!!!

Dear mechanic with my car,

If you are going to tell someone on Monday you will have their car done by that Saturday, have it done by Saturday.  I understand sometimes things come up and work gets delayed.  NOT FOR THREE FRUITING WEEKS THOUGH!! And not for the same reason every single day.

Re: Vents

Local taxes.

Really: local government? You want me to shell out 5% of my income to you? To pay for what, exactly? Congested, pot-holed roads that screw up my tires (causing me to shell out more money to pay for repairs)? A corrupt police department that suffers from weekly scandals? Or how about your excellent public education system that is consistently ranked as one of the worst in the country?

That's what you want to steal my money to pay for? Okay. Just so we're clear.

Re: Vents

If the stupid Fraggin' 'Project manager' would give the bloody engineers the information the need to do a project at the beginning then maybe the damn engineers wouldn't have to rework the project 3 frickin' times.

We called the customer today trying to get information and was told that the information was sent to the project mis-manager last week.

And guess what, now I am changing the layout around for the third time.

I need a new job.  Anyone wanna hiring a solidworks jockey? rmail me

Re: I am the ball in play

Too many bosses.  One boss says, 'don't do this til I check the numbers'; next boss says, 'you should have done this anyway, regardless of what first boss says' - so who do I listen to ?  Where does the blame fall ?  Yep, smack on me, bosses are in the clear, having shoved me right between them so the only loser is me.  Why do I have so many bosses ?  And all of rhem supposed to do their jobs, which is apparently merely making sure I am tormented by them into doing my job.

Small vent, but...

You're a modern doctor's office. You've won awards. Recently. For being so good. You have a great staff. They seem on the ball.
You have no email.

Seriously? No email. For anyone in the office. None. Not even for my doctor to send records to?

Seriously?

Okay, now I need to -find- a fax...

One of the better writers/players I've encountered here on rpol, has to leave here as part of a strategy to make his offline life not suck, I'm happy for him, I really am. But I'm also a selfish person and want my friend back.

Re: I am the ball in play

You wont let me watch the newest episode of my favorite tv show because you don't want to miss out and you want to go to bed early. Kay, that's fine, but then you go and watch it without me the next day and then you SPOIL the strawberries out of it. You're a moron and if some of your recordings are erased early from the DVR all I'm going to say, "Oh, I thought you already watched it like I did." NIT WIT!

Re: I am the ball in play

Yesterday, I was sitting down to finally get out some much needed replies and I was surprised to find my aunt visiting for the day and, lo and behold, she's brought along her babysitting brood.  Apparently my spoiled brat of a nephew wants to see where I live.

So they push their way up through the doors and into my apartment, and before long they're swarming all over my kitchen.  Like a horde of pokemon-shirted locusts, they are...

Now I have to go to the store, but no worries, my aunt says- I can ride with them!  Only, instead of going to the market first, we head to the bookstore.

What occurs is the single worst game of hide-and-seek that I've ever played in.  They seemed to think it was funny to race around and hide from me.  What was a fifteen-minute stop for a video game guide became a latte break for my aunt and a crash course in babysitting for me.

It couldn't get worse after that, could it?  Oh, yes.  Yes it can.

Where would you take a horde of sugar-rushed, over-caffinated grade-schoolers?

Chuck. E. Cheese.

After a half-hour, I'm hiding in the bathroom to get some much-needed peace and quiet.   After an hour, I'm looking for an excuse to go next door to the used game store and asking if I can hide out in their vault for an hour just to relish the quiet.

After all that, I was slipped ten dollars and dropped off back at my apartment.   No store, no nothing.  I feel like my aunt owes me for this...

Tax day, bombs in another city in which we have relatives (they are okay), a sleepless night and a long rest of the week in which I will be working with equipment that can maim or kill me if I mishandle it.  Oh, did I mention the coworker who tried to trip me yesterday while I was carrying a large tray of expensive glassware and irreplaceable samples ?  The one who got promoted for some reason, which could not have been intelligence, education, or wisdom ?  And I cannot call out sick - I have used up all my 'sick' days for the year.

Re: I am the ball in play

About this time last week I logged to Rpol and started typing out a message in the Anti-vent thread. I was going to talk about how things on all fronts looked like they were easing up, from domestic stress to financial. I never got around to posting it. And in the week since everything's just fallen to pieces such that it's far, far worse than it was before they started to get 'better.'

Sigh. I know, I know, first world problems. But still.

My GF just pretty much dumped me because I haven't spent time with her (on phone with for HOURS very day) for the last two weeks, you know, the SAME two weeks I've been taking care of my parents and/or almost DYING because I was admitted to the hospital but then had to leave, Against Medical Advice, while still having pneumonia, so I could take care of my parents...

Re: Mom

Fruitpie. Seriously.
I finally get into a habit of getting up early enough to go to the gym before work and I get some sort of stomach infection making sure getting my pulse up is a bad idea.
Result: parents think I have bulimia and want me to see a shrink.

As if that wasn't bad enough my laptop decided to completely wolligog off and erase everything I wrote on my assignment over the last week. Deadline is on Tuesday and my nerd doesn't have time before Wednesday.
So much for recreation this weekend.

Just can't catch a break these days.

Re: Mom

I found out why I've had so many problems with light bulbs burning out and exploding (I've swept up broken glass off my kitchen floor several times). According to the electrician, the voltage here is 245 volts instead of 230. He also found water in one of the light fittings.

I've just reported the voltage and I'm told someone will be out to check it today. I'm surprised (and pleased) that the electricity company is responding so quickly on a Saturday.

Hopefully this hasn't had any adverse effect on our computer gear.

Re: Boss

Thank you my Boss for decided when you are checking a project that I am working on to change the speed on the motor that WE speced out.  And thank you so very much for not informing me or updating the model that we used so that when I made the assembly drawings I used the wrong motor.  And thank you so much for making me look like the moron when manufacturing came in to say WTF?
