Re: So very tired

I normally try not to road-rage too much whenever there is lots of traffic, especially in the city. Especially since congestion can be caused by accidents or breakdowns.

But today I waited patiently in traffic for over an hour and a half, to travel roughly a mile. I expecting an accident, or a poor soul with a flat tire or a busted engine. But no. It was just idiots. That was all. Idiots. Idiot drivers, idiot planners and idiot civil engineers.

Re: So very tired

The one person in literally the entire world who can fix this software issue I'm having isn't answering his phone or his emails. And yet I've confirmed with his coworkers that he is in fact in the office.

Thanks to his lack of response, I now have a total of a 4 hour commute each day. Thanks.

Re: So very tired

Thanks to city street upgrades, the drive home was much longer than usual.  Normally I wouldn't care an iota (Good stereo in my car and music solves everything) but some blooming idiot was in such a hurry he rocketed through his red light right in front of me.  I hit the brakes so hard on instinct that I stopped easily before hitting him but now my knee is sore :(.  Hope the heating pad helps...

Re: So very tired

I am so SICK of 'gamers' that only will play a system if it is 'free' for DL and/or asking where to find it constantly... you cheap-apple fruits get a G-D JOB! Spend some of your G-D MONEY! Support the hobby you supposedly 'love so much' but are more than willing to STEAL from the creators of said games. YOU MAKE ME SICK! For the cost of ONE P.O.S. console game that probably will only take 12-15 hours to complete, you can buy the core rule books to just about any game system, which will provide so much more entertainment value for the money!

Leak

It has been raining since last Saturday and it seems that the leaky door I had fixed was only "fixed".

Re: Leak

My gf set fire to the kitchen cooking something while she was in a god damn bubble bath. Only the dog going nuts so much so that she came downstairs to see what the fuss was about saved my house from burning to the ground.

Please, someone remind me why I work every freaking hour there is when she sits on her ass and trashes my pad?

Re: All Dogs...

Not really a vent per se, but sad enough anyway...

The dog that I've had for almost 15 years, almost two thirds of my life, died today.

Re: All Dogs...

Can't sleep tonight.  Thinking about all the projects I'm juggling at the moment...and how I've missed deadlines already on at least two of them because I'm so focused on a couple of the others.  I never used to have that problem...in fact, it used to be a point of pride for me that I could keep tabs on five or six projects and keep the ball rolling forward on all of them.

Granted, it's not all my fault.  I'm highly distracted by the same costume designer I mentioned earlier...who has apparently advanced all the way to the notion that 'first dress rehearsal' is code, in her world, for 'time for an actual costume fitting'.  And we STILL don't have all the costumes yet (she says she's waiting on them to be shipped in, but she's had the measurements for this cast since the first week of March...I think that's plenty of time to custom order dresses and get them shipped to you...)  Last week was a success, thanks largely to my awesome crew, but because of Memorial Day, we had one day less this week for dress rehearsals...in a show with far more costumes and multiple costumes per performer.  At least she's been doing a good job of ordering/buying stuff that actually fits, rather than just buying whatever looked good to her despite the fact that the only size that was available was XL and our girls were all M or S...but we're now down to TWO DAYS before the preview performance, and we have yet to have people even run numbers in their costumes (because we still don't have a lot of them, including many of the guys' costumes...)

Add that to the festival costumes I need to have built by this weekend, the facial hair I need to have bought and shipped for this weekend, the freelance article I was supposed to have written this past weekend, the video project that I'm supposed to be helping with that I haven't had a chance to do anything on for about a month, now...(yeah, I realize the irony of griping about having too many projects and not being able to figure out time for them, while being online, rather than working on any of the projects...I can't focus, mentally, which is why I'm venting.  Trying to purge all those stray thoughts that keep getting caught in the spinning gears in my head...) and the production of Robin Hood whose props I forgot about while making this list.  And I only JUST barely remembered the game on here I'm supposed to be running...(at least I've been in touch with my players about my lack of activity...)

If I can just stay on top of things for a few more days...*crosses fingers*

But if you hear me talking about taking on another new project any time in the next month or so, smack me.  Hard.

Re: All Dogs...

Finally heard from a proofreader for my assignment.
Four contacted and only one replied. He waited until the day before I have to hand in to tell me I ought to rearrange everything and streamline/increase flow.
That is one week of anxiety I could have spend being productive.

At least I know I will sleep well tomorrow. :/

Technical challenges

I have a deadline to Lunch today to hand in my exam-paper.

Why-Oh-Why is it that the corrections I made last night aren't present when I wake and when I start to redo them the program shuts itself down spontaneously?

I do not like this.
Not one bit.

Edit: I love my nerd friends. ^_^
Managed to recreate the corrections and submit with minutes to spare.
Thanks for caring all.

Re: Technical challenges

I hate the 500 hall computer.  It shuts down in the middle of charting and ate my last incident report 3 times.  I hate the corner computer because it has stealth ancient rosters on it.  I hate the 300 hall computer cause K insists on putting her preferred rosters on the desktop rather than in the shared web.  I was ok with the 200 hall computer until it ate the assessment.

Work needs new computers.

And I think I need to check a pineapple math project grade.

Re: Leak

To the man who called my friend gay for knitting:

I didn’t know that a person’s ability to create fabric with two sticks and one giant apple tart piece of string indicated anything about their sexuality. If anything that shows an intelligence YOU only wish you could have.

Like fritter, what are you going to do one day when the actual zombie apocalypse comes along and you need a fritter-ing fishing net to catch food and EAT so you don’t get eaten and all you have is a loooong piece of string and two sticks? “Strudel! I’m going to starve because I DON’T KNOW HOW TO CAST ON AND WHAT THE KIWI TUNROVER IS A PURL AND KNIT STITCH?!?!1”

And even if he were gay, there's NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.

Ya fruit roll-up.

Not really a rant but...

I mentioned H.P. Lovecraft at work today and all of my coworkers said, "Who?"

Even though I find this to be sad, I don't really know why.  I personally don't even like to read his stories (though admittedly I do like the content, just not dragging myself through the actual reading of them).

Re: Goodbye Holiday....

Yep, another major appliance has decided to give trouble; this means we'll be likely losing our rather mild holiday.  I'm already doomed into fixing the shed, fixing the fence and chopping up the garden, and did I mention my back has gone out ?  Perfect timing, as usual.  Oh, and the retirement age has just been raised at my workplace, so I'll be dying in the traces now.  At least I won't have the bother of deciding to buy cat food for my dinner or seeing what I can find in the bins to eat during retirement.  Oh, and did I mention the other cut in my pay ?   Not the cut LAST month, the one THIS month.  If this keeps up I'll be paying my five bosses just to walk through the door.
