How do I make hidden characters?
I believe there is now a way to create characters that are only visible on the GMís Cast List but nobody elseís. How is that done?

How do I make hidden characters?
From the last update:

Secondary GM aliases (only) can now be hidden from the game by giving the character the "Hidden" tag.

How do I make hidden characters?
Oh, I have been wondering this for some time. So just set them as my own alias and hide them till ready?

Ah, so I just change the default 'NPC' tag to 'Hidden', and then reveal them by changing the tag back to NPC.

Thanks, Skald. :)

Unless Iím missing something, you canít add a portrait to a hidden character. It tells you the character doesnít exist. You have to make the character visible for long enough to give it a portrait and then hide it again. I suppose your players wonít be monitoring the game every minute, but you can do everything else while theyíre hidden (if only by using the GM Menu) so why not portraits?

If itís not possible to code for browsing, is it possible to insert the portrait reference number while the character is hidden? You could then browse portraits from a visible character and just insert the chosen number in the hidden one.

How do I make hidden characters?
Probably just a coding oversight rather than a technical limitation, though only jase would know for sure ... put up a request in the System Development formum and hopefully it will be added to jase's extensive lists of would-likes and must-haves.  :>

How do I make hidden characters?
can the "hidden" tag be given to a player (non-gm character) to give player read only access to a thread?

If not, how do I give a player read only access to some threads, while still allowing the player(s) to edit other threads?

Is the thread to be read-only for anyone with access?

I know in my games I have private threads (group with a letter) for each spellcaster--that is their spellbook in the game, but they do have edit/post abilities in the thread.  To make it read-only, I suppose it could be a closed thread.  I use the groups after the numbers (starting with A) for the "spellbook" threads because that's far enough down that I don't expect to have to use the group # for.

I'm not sure if that would accomplish the goal you're after, though.

You can give the Hidden tag to characters that belong to players. I am not sure what would happen if you made their only character Hidden - since you can't post with a Hidden character (or do anything else with it, because it functionally doesn't exist anywhere other than on the GM's list), that feels pretty much like you've just made them a Lurker at that point, if their only character is Hidden.

I'm not sure that you can. If you have access to a group, in order to read it, you can post in it. Unless the thread's locked, I suppose, as MelJill said.
