Two days later

The return trip to Talon Nest had been uneventful and before long the team had arrived back in the familiar to most, though rarely visited, asteroid base of the Black Talons.  Mika and her engineering droids had wasted no time getting the Ghtroc spaceworthy once more and in less than a half day, Fiarr, Heigren and Jela had left on their scouting mission.  They had taken a couple of battle droids to help guard the prisoners whom they would drop at some backwater planet as they travelled.

The rest of the team got down to work.  Mika commenced her repairs on the Gozanti freighter with Lin and several of the droids assisting.  Kadlor and Kyvarr kept busy dealing with a nasty mynock infestation that had occured in one of the lower levels.  Dohr busied himself with stocktake, particularly of the medical facilities aboard the nest and the Gozanti.  Cor meanwhile kept to herself but was constantly involved with various jobs by comm or her droid proxies.

After two days of hard work the team came together for a meal and a talk.  It quickly became apparent that a similar problem was being found throughout the team.  A sheer lack of supplies and equipment.  While Mika had reattached the repulsorlifts, she lacked the facilities she had been promised numerous times by Devon.  She had no work facility, in fact barely a minimum supply of tools.  Without either constructing a space facility at the nest or moving the Gozanti to a shipyard for a few days, the patch up job Mika had done was the best they could expect.  Dohr had likewise found the medical bay in poor shape.  He recalled much of the equipment had been moved to the Nightshrike as a mobile base and so it had all been subsquently lost when the Nightshrike was destroyed.

In short the Talons needed to go shopping.


OOC: So everyone is in one of the common areas enjoying a meal (mostly rehydrated food as it's all you have) and a chat.

Kyvarr sat eating a ration bar.  It wasn't too bad, but she preferred the ones she'd had during her army days.  It seemed not to different to that here.  There was basic heat and power but not much else.  The kitchen was largely empty, the armoury had some blasters but no workshop or tools for modification.  At least there was a powerpack charger.  The base itself had a lot of potential.  She'd found a large area that would be great for war games but it lacked even basic gravity and the atmosphere was minimal to non-existant.  She was no mechanic but she assumed the droids maintaining the place only kept the living areas habitable.

With more time and credits, there was so much she could do.

The group sits quietly in the living area, keeping their thoughts to themselves for the time being.  Nobody had much left to do.  They wouldn't be moving out for several days yet as Fiarr's team had to complete their recon mission.  There was little to do at Talon Nest as the place completely lacked infrastructure and what little maintenance work their was was being handled by the base's small droid workforce.


OOC:  This would be an ideal time to purchase any upgrades, work on crafting skills or just go to a cantina and sink a few cold ones.  Whatever the group wants to do while Fiarr and co work on their little side hustle.

Munching on a ration bar and sipping a jaga fruit fizzpop, Mike looks a bit worn out, but is in pretty good spirits.  She'd been working hard, but it was the sort of work she really enjoyed, so she was tiredly content.

"We need to prioritize the repair bay here.  I can't get any real effective repairs done on a cap ship with a tool kit and binding tape.  I can cover the cost of some really good tool sets for working on ships, but I don't know about spare parts.  If we can focus a bit more on salvaging ships, maybe that'll cover the need.  We tow a ship back here, it shouldn't be all that hard to strip out what we want and anything we don't want, we can then haul off and dump somewhere.  I'm talking for some serious space for storage of the spares."

Kadlor had been dealing with mynocks the past few days while trying to work on explosives during the downtime while scrounging through spare parts for what he needed. After a few hours, he decided to take a break and get something to eat. The Duros listened to Mika and nodded. “Agreed. I also need proper parts for any grenades or explosives we’ll need on future missions. What kind of creds we got to purchase supplies?”

"Cor and Heigren handle the creds I think."  Kyvarr offered.  "I've got next to none at present as we haven't done any paying jobs recently."

"Like you I could do a lot to update this place.  I'd like to set up a full workout centre for the team, training courses, weapon ranges.  There is so much space, I just need credits.  But with all the charity work we've done of late I don't know if we even have credits!"

The conversation continues for a while with Kyvarr, Kadlor and Mika discussing wish lists while the others quietly listen on.  Two main threads seem to dominate.  The first is around Black Talon funds and the earning of credits.  Many were unsure how much the Talons possessed and it occured to many they hadn't done a paying job since Mark and Zyra had offered to have the Talons join the Rebel Alliance.  Different members of the team always seemed to have credits, Heigren being the real standout.  But did the Talons have money at all and could they afford to keep doing charity work?

The second topic and the one more heartily entered into was spending money.  Between the talkers it seemed there were two main option less than a day's travel the group knew about.  One was a space station Mika knew about.  It was nothing special, but Mika knew someone, an ex-swoop ganger, who would likely perform repair or maintenance tasks for them, no questions asked.  Mika hadn't been in contact for a while but was fairly certain her contact could even handle a ship the size of the Gozanti.

The other was a planet Kadlor knew about.  A sparsely habited planet that held a massive market bazaar every few months (and was running right now).  Like a cross between a market and a swap meet, traders from all over came there to trade wares of all kinds.  If you wanted it, it tended to be there or someone knew someone who could get it.  The location changed constantly to keep Imperials at bay but even this was largely precautionary as many senior Imperials liked to shop there for luxury items (through intermediaries naturally).  Kadlor used to frequent the bazaar in his smuggler days and still had enough contacts to know it's current location.  It was a place to shop and do deals IF you had the credits.

Kadlor thought on the matter. “If we need anything, I know a place nearby that at this current time we could get it from, but of course we need to make some money first. Should we try to at least take a quick small job to pay for the repairs on the Gozanti?”

You figure you have a few days, possibly a week at most before you need to hit the Imperial convoy if you still plan to do that.  You probably don't have time for even a small job.  Though if you wanted to earn credits or find a job, the planet bazzar might not be a bad choice.  There is always deals being made.  Plus there's the usual gambling, contests of strength, races, etc.

The Talons do have some funds.  Plus you could probably speak to some of the more affluent members (specifically Cor, Heigren or Dohr) about using some of their wealth.  Heigren is still contactable via comm if needed.  Dohr is present and Cor is undoubtedly listening in on you all.

Kadlor wrapped the table with his fingers. “Let’s go to the nearby Bazaar and at least get some supplies. There’s always the possibility of quick contests that could earn a little money. We aren’t going to accomplish anything just sitting here. Let’s see what we can gather.”

Kyvarr stretched.  "Wouldn't hurt to see the kind of hardware they have.  Even if we don't have the credits it can't hurt to look.  We need more armament, maybe even an armoured ground vehicle that can shoot back.    Might even find a few junk ships for Mika to break down for parts.

"Plus, the ships need munitions.  Do we even have any torpedoes for the Y-wings?"  He looks to Mika for confirmation.  "Imagine what we could do to this convoy we plan to raid with a few ion torpedoes.  We could probably use some proton torpedoes for any heavy escorts."


OOC:  I know we have the inventory lists in the assets thread but assuming Kyvarr only knows whats in the armoury, not the hangars.
