Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

<<Briefing Room - Two hours later>>

Zyra is sitting in the room when Cor arrives.  She's wearing a form-fitting, low-cut dress with a very long slit in the leg.  It does little to hide her features and seems to be a size too small as if she'll break out of it.  Her horns have been gilded with gold leaf, her jewellrey excessive and her make-up elaborate, very much the opposite of her usual appearance.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

Seeing Cor and CC9 she smiles.  Looking approvingly at their attire she explains.

"When Mark chooses a target to blow up, I always like to get as much intel as possible before he does.  In this case we're taking on a planetary sector so I thought it would be useful to have eyes and ears in the government.  I thought about trying to tag the Moff but it's very possible either Mark will target him or the Imperials may replace him if we cause too much trouble.  Besides I found a better target."

"Nirac Foluk the third is a wealthy politician who currently holds the energy portfolio, amongst others.  Whilst this alone makes him a target of interest, he has a rather unique fetish for an Imperial, a taste for exotic alien women.  I have found through a contact of mine, a senior executive for a rather large and exclusive escort agency that Mister Foluk regularly makes use of their services.  I've pulled a few markers and arranged for his next two girls to be replaced by us.  We'll be going in as his latest escorts, CC9 will pose as our protection and jailer.  This is why I want the remote for CC9, it would be customary to give the customer control of the droid, and thus control over us.  It will also make him less suspicious of CC9, freeing him up."

"Before you ask, I don't expect you to sleep with this man.  I plan for us to be long gone before anything like that occurs.  If it comes to that I'll ensure he takes me first.  At the least it will provide the distraction we need.  I want you to slice his systems, get what information you can, especially information we can use to get concessions for Phindar Petroleum.  Better, yet if possible I'd like you to set up a permanent datafeed for us.  Having access to the personal computer of a senior cabinet member would be most advantageous."

"Now the senator is sending a private transport to pick us up.  Since an escort service can't advertise it's presence, the story is we've been dropped off at a local hotel for pickup by the senator's people.  They'll take care of all those pesky problems like spaceports and customs.  We wont have to deal with any of that as the senator can't let us be seen.  He must have some private way of sneaking us on planet.  Learning that will also be valuable for a later stage."

"What do you think?"

Zyra adds as an afterthought.  "As I mentioned before, don't tell Mark about this.  He's not the biggest fan of me going off alone, especially after the close call I had last week, he REALLY wouldn't like the idea of me going to an Imperial politician's house as a sex worker.  For a fighter jock he's got a big dose of white knight syndrome!"

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

Cor had a feeling that Zyra was hinting more at 'whore' than 'confident sexual woman' when she was making her request.  She turns up looking quite... different.

Her normally practical outfit is gone.  Instead she wears a slinky black dress that manages to be both classy and sexy, and looks as if it could be pulled off quite easily.  Her legs are encased in long, thigh-high platform boots, her plush lower lip is adorned by a jewelled ring and she wears bracelets rather than wrist-PCs.

To finish off the outfit she wears a pair of stylish wrap-around sunglasses that conceal much of her upper face.

She doesn't walk into the room.  She saunters.  Whether it's an act or she feels more confident in such an outfit it's clear that she's no stranger to the concept of turning people's heads.  Perhaps she wasn't always so scared and broken.

CC9 looks quite different, too.  His matte-black paint job is gone in favour of a deep red, trimmed in gleaming chrome.

The two stand and listen.  Cor doesn't seem at all worried about the dangers regarding the deception.  She nods thoughtfully.

"So this man will want us to... what?  If he has a taste for women that he shouldn't, would he not simply fuck us and ship us off?"  The concept doesn't seem to bother her.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

Zyra shook her head.  "If that was all he wanted them I never would have made this plan.  Firstly because I would not ask you to put yourself in such a situation and secondly it would not afford us the time we need.  No, I hear our target likes our presence as much as the sex.  Apparently with prior escorts he has shown them off to his little inner circle, taken them to parties, sometimes bought them expensive gifts, though at other times he has been more. . .violent."

"Speaking of that, we must speak of CC9's role.  I will give you a list of a guardian droid's normal operating parameters and you will need to 'play the role' as it were.  I hope CC9 you're up to such a challenge.  It means you must obey orders from the politician, even if it degrades us, humiliates or even hurts us.  You will protect us from greivous harm or death, that is written into the contract but you must otherwise appear the loyal servant unless ordered otherwise by Cor or myself."

"I can do that," Cor nods readily, though she doesn't relish the idea of being harmed.  "If it comes down to sleeping with him, do not feel you need to protect me.  I will see the mission through," she says firmly.  "Umbaran society has prepared me for worse than sex.  If it would be more beneficial to leave yourself free to attend other matters then that is..."  She glances at CC9 and grins slightly.  "Tactically more advantageous."

"Anyway, our ride leaves soon and you have reprogramming to do.  Any other questions before we go?  Your outfit is perfect.  I imagine if any of the boys were left onboard we'd need CC9 to begin his bodyguard role a little early!"

"Ha!  I doubt that," Cor says wryly.  "No other questions.  It all seems very clear.  I will have CC9 ready."  She gives Zyra a small bow of the head and heads toward the door.

Then she stops and half-turns.  "Besides, who says I only like boys?" With that she slips out the door and is gone.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

About an hour later an airspeeder arrives at the depot.  The driver says nothing, though he audibly gulps when he sees the trio.  Wether it's from the two exotically dressed females or the heavily armed battle droid is anyone's guess.  Silently he helps load the luggage then wordlessly drives them too their destination, a private airstrip approximately four hundred kilometres distant.  Upon arrival, he again wordlessly helps them unload then flies off.

Less than ten minutes later a luxury space transport lands at the airstrip.

Zyra whistled.  "A Sorosuub 3000.  Well the man has good taste anyway."

The yacht circles once and lands.  Two men, clearly security guards walk over and quickly check over Zyra and Cor's fake ID's and paperwork.  After checking the datacard that CC9 carried, citing his function, the three were led on board and locked in a luxury stateroom, complete with king sized bed, a large whirlpool bath and numerous other amenities.  Security had barely left the room when they felt the repulsors engage and the ship was off again.

Cor sits herself on the edge of the bed, crossing her legs demurely, giving the Zabrak a winsome smile.  "Well, it is hardly surprising that he has good taste.  He hired us, after all."  There seems to be little to do but wait.  With no assurance that the place isn't bugged the Umbaran doesn't ask Zyra any particular questions, though she looks over her own ID as if to remind her of her own 'name'.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

Zyra quickly pulled a bug scanner from her bag and scanned the room.  Satisfied the area was clean she put the gear back away.

"Might as well enjoy the amenities." she said with a wink.  Filling the bath and choosing one of the aromatic bath salts, the Zabrak stripped naked, carefully laid her dress on the bed then climbed into the bath and sighed.

"Ahhh.  Fighting a war can be so rough sometimes."

Taking on a more serious look she turned to Cor and CC9.  "This might be our last chance to talk freely.  Once on the ground we'll be under close scrutiny.  Remember our goal is to slice into the computer system and dig up any information that will be useful either to the Talons as a military objective or to us for blackmail purposes.  Be sure to play the role of the dumb prostitute.  Being escorts they'll assume we're brainless bimbos.  Being Imperials they'll think us even lower being non-human.  Keep up that charade if you're spotted anywhere you're not meant to be."

Zyra lowered herself deeper in the water, letting the heat relax her whole body.

Cor nods to Zyra's initial comment but her eyes go very wide as the Zabrak starts stripping.  Very thankful for her mirrorshades she nods, watching Zyra as she moves, keeping her head tilted slightly away so it won't look too blatantly obvious.  Then as she settles in Cor also starts taking her clothes off.  She's not wearing any underwear, which makes the task much more swift.

She folds her clothes up and puts them on the bed as she listens to Zyra speak.  "Dumb prostitute.  I should be able to manage that."  Reluctantly she takes her sunglasses off and lays them aside, and comes over to settle into the bath opposite Zyra.

Zyra's eyes roved over Cor's naked body as she lowered herself into the bath.  She then closed her eyes and sighed.

"I could handle this Amelia Starshine's life." she grimaced at the terrible alias she had.  "Well except the whole being a virtual slave forced to cater to the whim of disgusting and perverted men and women across the galaxy that is.  Still, maybe I can have our friend Mister Seven whistle one of these babies up for us."

She reached for a datapad she'd brought over to the bath with her and punched something up.  "Hmm, according to the pilot station we'll be arriving at our port in under two hours.  They must have done a microjump followed by skipping at least three custom checkpoints.  They're violating at least 15 Imperial custom protocols I can think of.  I'm sure Darvin could come up with more.  The perks of being rich and powerful I guess.  Odds are we'll hit planetfall only a few minutes after the others even though we left hours after them."

"Any thoughts or question from either of you?  We may be seperated once we land, I'm n'ot sure.  Keep your comm handy  but limit usage.  You have your objectives.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

Cor watches Zyra thoughtfully, blushing very faintly at the woman's roving gaze. She slips into the water a bit more slowly as she notices the attention but then settles and let's out a very soft sigh of her own. "The 'disgusting' I can do without but sometimes I do miss a little 'perverted'. A little." She looks around at the surroundings, partially out of interest and partially to avoid staring, which she knows she sometimes does even without such incentive to do so.

She thinks about the matter of questions and seems quite nervous about being split up. "Do you know why they might split us up, with only one battle droid to keep us in line it seems it may be risky on their behalf."

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

Zyra's face reddened slightly, wether from the heat of the bath or Cor's innuendos were uncertain.  Zyra was silent for several moments.

"Until curcumstance dictates I'm not your superior.  I'm just a simple girl who wanted to get off her homeworld and see the galaxy the only way she was skilled to do so." her tone changed as she spoke, her voice a little higher pitched and inflected with naive innocence, wonder and a little fear. "We're just two girls alone in the universe."

She resumed her normal tone.  "The reports say that on one occasion he got rough with one of the girls.  I wasn't able to get detailed information from my contact.  But since this guy is a regular user of the service I assume he either sticks to the rules or compensates the company very well when the latter occurs."

"When we've finished with our bath and almost to the planey, how likely do you think it is you could splice into the comm system and send a short burst transmission for me towards the planet?  A five-second audio message on the Talon encrypyted frequency.  Want to let Xil know we're here in case we need his team, or vice versa.  I figured since this ship must be fairly invisible, breaking so many Imperial laws, we might as well take advantage of it!"

Her voice has a very different inflection, her Umbaran accent less obvious. "You don't need to do this, right? Kyd's gonna come back on soon I think, last time it was only off for, like. A minute. I think. Uh." She looks desperate but then seems to have an idea. "Look, my contract's not locked, see? And if you turn Kyd back on he'll see you haven't touched us and your boss won't fire you. And then you can, like, negotiate with Kyd and hire me, yeah? All nice and legal?" The last sentence holds a certain persuasive tone, showing the Umbaran is willing if everything's done right. "Her contract's locked but mine's not, okay?"

Cor starts moving around, trying to get to a point where Zyra's behind the one with the remote. As they're trying to stay either side of her, and she's pretty bad at combat, she preferably tries to work it so that the one without the droid caller has his back to CC9. These humans aren't as smart as she'd hoped. Now she hoped they were just stupid - or confident - enough. "Well, shit," she mutters, "I tried."

At the far side of the room, apparently forgotten by the lust-driven men, Cor noted that Zyra was signalling to her.  The Umbaran noticed that the Zabrak had something small in her hand, a bottle of some sort.  Zyra was continually repeating the same gestures: pointing at the man with the remote then at herself.  She did this several times and then slid to the floor and fell back into her act apparently distraught and sobbing.

Cor tries to get remote-boy closer to Zyra.  What did she want to do, hit him from behind?  Drug him with smelling salts?  She tries to sense Zyra's motives, though quickly.  She knows CC9 won't stop her from being hurt.  She also knows that bruises show up on her pale skin pretty easily.

Edit:

Ahh.  That's what she wants.  The only downside is Cor can't get past the guys and closer to Zyra.

She thinks for a few seconds and then, lacking much in the way of other options, pushes herself toward the guy who doesn't have the remote, half-curling her naked form against his chest.  It's a dangerous tactic but one that's worked countless times before, particularly when faced with arrogant predators - the Brer Rabbit Gambit.

"All right, okay," she says in a shaky voice.  "I'll do whatever you want, but..."  Cor throws a look at the other man, the one with CC9's fake remote.  "Just... please don't touch my friend."  And with that her eyes flick down, perhaps a touch dramatically, to stare pointedly at Zyra.

Zyra continued to put on her scared girl act until the man was standing directly before her.  She'd chosen her position against the wall carefully as she'd wanted him standing in a certain position.  At his feet was a large puddle of bath oil.  While the oil proved very relaxing in a bath, it had anothe purpose, it reduced friction.

Looking up at the man she groand as if scared.  "You wont hurt me will you?  KYD wont allow that.  See, he's coming over." she pointed in the direction of CC9.

The man couldn't help but reflexively turn to look.  As he did so Zyra swung her leg aroung with all the force she could muster, jamming into his heels.  The force, combined with the puddle of oil he was standing him was enough to send the man sliding backwards to the ground.  Moving quickly, Zyra ensured his head met the ground with an agreeable crack.

Then she screamed loudly, "Help, help!  He's tripped and hit his head.  There's blood.  Oh does someone know first aid?  KYD does, I'll activate him.  Get over here KYD."  With the last comment she rummages through the man's pockets and activates the faux remote for CC9.

The man who'd been attempting to rape Cor had still been struggling with his pants when his friend had hit the floor.  He'd been too engrossed in what he was doing to see any of it, but he couldn't mistake Zyra's scream.  Turning in suprise, he barely saw the Zabrak frantically shaking his colleague, who himself was lying on the floor, blood oozing from a scalp wound, before a battle droid had a blaster pointed at him.

Totally shocked, all thoughts of sex melting away he backed away from Cor, hands up and pants around his legs.  The state of his genitalia indicated that any thought of sex had evaporated from his mind.  In fact it looked like he needed a 'fresher for another bodily function.

As soon as the men were out, Zyra sprang to her feet and grabbed a robe.  All signs of distress were gone and were replaced with a grim determination the Zabrak developed when busy planning.

"We need to be quick.  CC9, get on the comm and report this to the ship's captian immediately.  That would be standard procedure and it works to our favour.  Report the 'violent and unprovoked attack' and how your charges have been traumitised.  Add the customer is required to provide you with a few days to recover from this ordeal before any services are offered else the contract is terminated.  That should give us the time we need on planet without having to put up with any more horny males."

"Cor, get dressed and be ready.  Remember both of you, the man near me tripped on a slippery surface and cracked his head.  I distracted him and then belted him hard enough he should be hazy.  Even if he remembers what happened I doubt he'll mentioned some prostitute beat him up.  He'd be a laughing stock."

"Now I have experience in playing different roles so I'll stick with the distraught emotional wreck.  You'd better be the calm one.  You're probably used to this kind of treatment and can handle it better.  Show anger that they didn't pay and they weren't part of the contract."

Once that's done we need to get that comm call prepared then be ready for landing."

About fifteen minutes after the 'incident' there is a knock on the door and a man walks in, wearing a uniform of an unfamiliar civilian cut.  He looks around the room then addresses CC9.

"I am Captain Thanas.  I would like to formally apologise to your employers about this incident.  Please assure them that the men will be severely disciplined once planetside.  I have contacted my employer and he will abide by your terms for two days rest for your. . .merchandise.  He refuses to consider financial recompense as your property was not damaged.  He states his long standing relationship with your organiastion should be testimont to that."

He points to a chrono on the wall.  "We will be in planetary comm range in fifteen minutes.  I shall open up an external comm line for you in twenty.  Relay that message to your employers.  Hand over your remote to me.  I will keep it until I can hand it directly to my employer.  That way it will not make it's way into wayward hands again."  He holds out his hand for the device.

"Perhaps it might be a suitable reprimand for all or part of said payment to come from the salaries of the men in question? In that manner neither yourself nor your employer is unnecessarily burdened by financial strain. Merely a suggestion." He relaxes back into his normal stance, if 'relaxes' is the right word. The time passes in earnest preperation.  What seems only a few minutes later but is actually twenty, the comm beeps, and the captain's voice is heard.

"Channel five has been cleared for your use.  We will be landing in half an hour."

The timing was suprising as it was supposed to take another hour to reach the planet.  Assumedly the 'incident' on board the yacht had encouraged the captain to update his timetable.

Zyra gestured to the comm board.  "It's all yours."

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

The rest of the trip was indeed fast.  Clearly using his political clout, the yacht bypassed the major spaceport, customs, and normal spacelanes to quickly approach a private landing pad in an exclusive housing estate in one of the most plush areas of Phindar Prime's capital city.

On the pad waiting for their arrival was a luxury speeder which quickly whisked Cor, Zyra and CC9 off and away.  They had the back of the speeder to themselves but knew better then to speak at present.

It was less then a 5 minute drive before they approached the politician's home.  It was a deluxe two-story mansion with a high fence and elaborate external security.  Zyra and Cor watched with interest to the security guards at the front gate, the sensors around the wall perimeter, the cameras and the patrolling security droid.  This would be a difficult house to infiltrate, luckily for the girls they were being invited in, complete with their own battle droid.

The speeder pulled up to the front gate and the girls and droid were disembarked.  Without fanfare, a butler droid led the girls inside through the front door and into an elaborately decked out foyer.  The butler led them straight through to a set of stairs and led them upstairs.  After moving through a well-stocked games room, the trio arrived at a reasonably sized-bedroom.

The butler put their bags down.  "I am programmed to inform you that you are required to remain on this level.  You may use the games rooms and theatre rooms.  All other areas are off limits and you will NOT go downstairs.  If you need something my comm extension is in your room.  Good day ladies."  Te droid leaves.

Cor does indeed slide in. She looks about a little nervously.  This is a big room.  She doesn't like big rooms.  It takes a few seconds for her to process the question and then she looks at the floor, likely trying to block out her awareness of the space about her.  "Uh.  If we have access to a net terminal I can try and find floor plans to this type of building - it might give us clues as to the best way to sneak about.  If there is a security room here we could try and gain access or slice in, turn the cameras off or put them on a loop."  She ponders some more.  "Or wait until our client's attention is elsewhere and simply try and sneak, though I do not like the chance of security cameras.  Try and bribe guards?  Too risky, perhaps.  Distract them?"

Her own line of investigation...

Having little idea of what she could do without droids or computers she starts wandering around looking for any sign of either.  She pulls a plain little ring off one of her fingers and wanders, taking the time to pose 'coincidentally' here and there with her arms crossed, pushing her cleavage up a little, or to 'accidentally' drop the ring just where a security camera can view her rear end as she picks it back up.

Running distraction isn't so bad a thing.

Heading down the stairs, CC9 had barely reached the bottom floor when an electronic voice spoke from above in Basic.

CC9 stares at the hateful little thing.  This thing's programming might become exceedingly problematic, or it might identify the battle droid's assessment of the facility's security as being perfectly logical.  Depending on the programming quirks the droid may or may not have it might even become downright boastful about its job.

As the irritating little half-assed fourth degree droid goes on its way, so does CC9.  Pff.  'Security' droids.  Catch one in a proper firefight...

Once downstairs the droid notes any further security droids and cameras that might be about, and then commences stalking about.  Typically, the security droid shows zero initiative; certainly he, CC9, can obtain information regarding the zones from the security office.  As an outsider droid, however, he doesn't know where the security office is.  And he intends to use that to his advantage.

A huge and imposing sight, he stalks through the lower floor, noting fleshy guards and their armaments, as well.

A simple audible 'click' indicates that someone has unlocked the door.  Stepping through B2-CC9 walks into the small security station.  A large flat panel screen that covers most of one wall has sixteen different camera displays upon it.  Against another wall is a large locked cabinet, the kind usually used to store weaponry.

Sitting in a chair, his legs on the bench sat a middle-aged overweight human who B2-CC9 thought logically must be a guard.  He didn't look like a capable soldier, but he wore a different uniform then the other staff and he had a blaster pistol on his belt, a stun baton sat on the desk next to him.  He seemed absorbed with some holovid on a small screen, rather then the security cameras.  He was talking through a headset commlink to someone.  Seeing CC9 he stopped.

"Just a sec.  Got the whore's droid in here.  Get back to you."

He slid off his chair and moved over to CC9.  "Super battle droid huh?  Haven't seen one of your sort since the Clone Wars."

He pointed to a small data terminal to the side with a map of the house and grounds on it.

"Check that out rust bucket.  Green zones you can move around.  Yellow and Red Zones you can't.  I catch you there, you're scrap metal.  Your whores stay in the bedroom or the theatre room upstairs.  They only leave when the boss is having his fun with them.  Got it clanker?  Now get out."  He returns to watching his holo, picking up a bag of deep fried and salted potato products and commences eating.

OOC:  The guy is a typical slovenly security guard.  Thinks he's a big man because he has a gun and a badge.  Obviously picks on droids because he knows (or thinks he knows) they wont do anything about it.

The big screen shows every camera in the facility.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

CC9 observes the zones on the screen.  He makes no comment regarding his level of rust.  He doesn't comment on the guard referring to the girls as whores - they are, or at least are pretending to be, so he sees the statement as factual.  Instead he observes and records the likely location of each camera, and also briefly notes how much attention the guard is paying to them.

One shows Cor bending over to pick up a ring.  The appeal of the sight is utterly lost on the droid.

Having scrutinised the screen he straightens and turns to the guard.

"Your assistance has been noted and catalogued as 'most informative'.  I shall report your excellent and professional efficiency to my superiors upon my return to StarFox Intergalactic.  Have a nice day, organic guard."

Then he turns on his heel and marches out, ducking to get through the human-sized door.  The insults meant nothing in particular to CC9, except that the human clearly underestimates the battle droid, which works to his advantage.  But still...  At least the security droid was doing its job.

Having left the security room he then patrols the rest of the lower floor, in and around every single room he's permitted into.  He takes close note of every detail that might be pertinent - cameras, guards, droids and guards' reactions and temperaments, that kind of thing.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

CC9's reconnisance took less then a few minutes.  Having noted the camera views from the security room he was quickly able to discern the locations off all the cameras on the floor.  Most were designed to be unobtrusive and the droid knew it would have missed one or two if not for his 'insider information'.

The house was quiet.  A cook worked quietly in the kitchen and looked startles as the battle droid walked through.  A servant droid was cleaning the floors, another washing dishes in a sink while a human cleaner was cleaning silverware taken from an ornate mantlepiece.  A maintenace droid moved through the rooms routinely testing equipment.

Then there was the security droid.  While it patrolled through the rooms, remaining high and unobtrusive, CC9 calculated he was seeing it too often for a random patrol pattern.  The droid was keeping a sensor on a potential threat.  Clearly the droid was capable of some processing power.  More then that human guard who seemed to be the only other form of semi-sentient security within the house.

OOC:  So only handful of servants and serving droids in the house.  One guard and one guard droid.  Whole heap of cameras but not much else security inside.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

CC9 pauses in the middle of a corridor while within visual range of the security droid, without looking at it.  Then he pulls out his blaster rifle and runs a routine check on it, including making sure the power cell is charged and ready to go.

If that doesn't raise the battle droid's comparative threat level in the security droid's assessment then not much would other than using the rifle.

Without looking around he waits to see if there's any response from the security droid, blaster rifle in hand.

There is a certain sense of satisfaction in CC9's positronic brain.

"I have drawn my weapon with the intent of performing a weapons check, directly in line with my security protocols."  He completes the check as he speaks and then removes the power cell, holding it out to indicate it has been removed.  "Your diligence is noted, but unprovoked violence will incite the same in return, security model G-2RD.  My weapon is now powered down.  Further aggression is... ill-advised."

The droid responded less then a second after CC9.

"Unit B2-KYD3.  You have drawn a weapon in violation of security protocols.  This has been reported to security."

About thirty seconds later, B2-CC9 registered that someone had activated his 'remote'.  The command was supposed to make him immediately move to the the remote's location (in this chase the security office).  It had no effect on CC9 other then to indicate the intention.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

B2-CC9 has only been standing at the door about ten seconds when the door clicks and he gets another 'order' from the remote to enter the security office.  Complying he finds the guard is actually standing and has put his chips down.

"Have your gears corroded?" the security guard yells, though not so loud the rest of the house would hear.  "Drawing a weapon in the middle of the house.  I don't care what your reasons were, you do not draw your weapons at any time.  This isn't the Clone Wars clanker.  In fact the only reason you're not powered down in the closet is the damn contract."  He seems to ponder.

"Leave the rifle here clanker.  I'd take the pistol too but the whores apparently need to have an armed protector.  Dunno what you're gonna protect them from."

"So put the rifle on the bench.  You can retrieve it when you leave.  Your pistol stays on stun, the safety on and in your holster unless some imaginary bad guys attack your girls.  Understood?"

He clicked the remote again.  An unnecssary gesture as the remote was already supposed to compel all commands of the wielder unless it put the girls' lives at immediate risk of harm.

CC9 obediently places the rifle on the bench.  Then he strides over and looms over the guard, half an inch from the man.

"Your orders have been received.  Your orders have been complied with.  However: my presence here is not exclusively to protect the whores.  My presence is to protect and defend StarFox Intergalactic assets - and that includes myself."  He leans over a little more.

"Whilst that remote compels me to obey your orders I can and will defend myself if fired upon or put in jeopardy.  Please inform your little floating tin cans of that fact.  Whilst you have temporary command over me, they do not.  In addition: I would advise you to recall that the 'damn contract' you speak of is one that your employer has entered into willingly.  Are you questioning his judgement?"

Without pausing he adds, in the same flat tone, "StarFox Intergalactic wishes to advise that this conversation may or may not be recorded for training, contractual or quality purposes."

"You get this straight clanker.  While you're under this roof you will comply with all instructions by security staff and the guard droids.  You are subject to our security protocols and you will comply.  Your role is to serve as bodyguard to the girls, nothing else."

He is distracted by a beep from his head commlink.  "Yeah?  Nah, I'll send A2 to do that.  Wouldn't want to miss that!  Thanks."

Once he's out of the security centre CC9 heads back around the lower floor in one last circle, sticking to the areas he knows he's allowed to go.  He keeps an optical sensor out for droids near the ceiling.  Then he heads outside and around the grounds, remaining alert and very annoyed about his rifle.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

The remainder of the internal sweep reveals little of interest.  The organics were still in the same rooms they had been in.  The maintenance droids were moving methodically through the house undertaking their duties.

Walking out the front door into the garden and commencing his sweep, CC9 noted that security was taken a lot more seriously externally then it was internally.  The fences were high and tipped with pressure sensors.  There were also sensors around the interior base of the wall.  Camera coverage took in all of the garden and looked like they had light-enhancing capability to handle night.

A single G-2RD droid patrolled the garden.  Next to the front gate was a small guard house.  The gates themselves looked sturdy.

Desh also seemed to have an open channel to the GRD droid patrolling the grounds as status reports popped up on his wristpad from time to time.  While CC9 couldn't see them, he could hear them and he didn't need the wristpad to translate Basic for him like Desh did.

When CC9 comes into the room Cor gets up and quickly pulls a small data chip from the battle droid containing a report on what he's seen and done, as well as his general opinion of the layout and security levels of the facility.  Putting it into her own datapad she thanks CC9 in her own language and sits back down.

Having gained access to the wifi she commences prodding and exploring the limitations of that connection, seeing where it might lead and, as a result, what the might be able to play with.

She also finds two heavily encrypted channels that she can't identify immediately, but she can logically deduce their purpose.  One is a continuous one-way data stream, clearly making it the video camera feeds, the other is a two-way data stream that must be the security droids.

"Oh my, that's terrible." Zyra gasped suddenly.  While the gasp was in character, there was a true undertone of genuine concern.  She transferred the article she was reading to the main screen.

'Blasterfight in Seba Grove.'

'Witnesses report that approximately thirty minutes ago, a human and an alien, described as an 'overgrown frog with two large floppy ears, one badly scarred' opened fire on a group of construction workers in the industrial section of Seba Grove.  Police were sent to investigate.  There are seperate sources suggesting a second gunfight broke out on a warehouse roof not one kilometre distant.  Witnesses report that a police speeder tried to apprehend the two gunman and a fight ensued.  Details are sketchy but the speeder left the scene shortly after and nobody remained on the roof.  Police have yet to comment on the arrests. . .'

Zyra looks over at Cor.  "How terrible.  Thugs attacking innocent civilians.  What would an 'overgrown floppy-eared frog' be doing making trouble in a small town?  Good thing the police caught him don't you think?"

Her tone was light but her face belied the concern she felt.  The alien sounded exactly like Aryan.  Since the Talons had been on an armed recon mission to Seba Grove, it seemed unlikely to be a coincidence.

Zyra moved to stand behind Cor.  "How goes your game there?  Far off hitting the high score?"

I've received word from our dear Nine that you'd best come out to Sorren.  We might be able to meet up once our tasks here are done."

Zyra reads the message Cor plans to send and nods in agreement.  Then she types something on her datapad before showing it to Cor.

'Going to arrange for Talons to attack government houses and locations.  Make it appear Senator Foluk is a target of extremists. I'll create a false recall order from Starfox for us, citing dangers.  Talons will acquire transport for extraction.

Plan your data tap for tonight or tomorrow morning.  Let me know what support you need from me or anything you need the Talons to do to assist you.

I will also need to use the encrypted comm to give the Talons orders as soon as they arrive.  Can you use one of the droids to stand watch, ensuring we're not disturbed.  The bedroom is free of security but people could still walk in.'

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

After typing a few things out, including a secure email to A9, she hands Zyra her datapad.  It has a plan outlined on it.

In brief, it is this: Create blind spots using looped video feed (so anyone watching gets boring feed to watch) and alterable permissions (so with a flick of the switch Cor can change their permissions to allow Zyra and Cor into any part of the manor they care to go to - absolute permission so that the droids won't even report in to the security station on the girls' movements).

They flick the Manor Blindness switch, waltz down to the private suite and get slicing.  Cor's notes mention that if there was more time and they came better prepared she'd also hide cameras in the private suite that'd save and transmit video feed out to a secure location on-planet as a backup so they can extort the Imp if they need to.

Once they have their slicing done they waltz back up to the upper floor and wait out their stay - whether that means staying the full time or bugging out early under the excuse of unstable political matters making it too dangerous for the whores to stick around.

If shit meets fan they can hit the OTHER switch, which will change all Imperial presence to Absolute Red - making the droids believe that the Imps are not only disallowed on the manor, but that they're active threats that must be fired upon.

That second switch will change the teams considerably.  And considering neither girl (as far as I know) is armed, it's a pretty vitally important change if things REALLY go pear-shaped.

Zyra, feeling the datapad typing was getting too much, typed out one final message.

'Understood.  Make this room 'invisible' so we can talk directly.  Going to sit still until you tell me we're clear.'

Zyra then turned the stereo up again and sat back on the couch, randomly typing and scrolling her datapad like she was reading a book.  Her movemements were minimal so as to try and reduce a looped video feed drawing attention.

Cor does what she needs to in order to make the room 'invisible'.  She has a feeling their time is short, and not only because of movement in the other thread.  Once she's got plenty of video feed that she can set a loop up with - Zyra reading her datapad and Cor playing a video game - she flicks the 'safe to talk' switch and nods to Zyra.

"We are clear and ready to go.  As long as the guards stick to their stations and the officer we are here to service does not return abruptly we should find our course relatively smooth."

'I hope,' she thinks to herself.

Zyra nods.  "Fantastic.  Can you tap into the security droids feeds and leave them with me?  That way I can watch for trouble from both inside and out."

"Now your mission is simple.  Get into the Senator's office.  Take care of any security that might be in there.  Then slice into his computer and copy everything you can.  I want appointments, files, passwords, everything.  I'd also love it if you can slip in some sort of surveillance program that lets us remotely slice in or even recieve pulse bursts of data from time to time."

"While you do that.  I'll toss his office and sleeping quarters for physical evidence.  Once that's done we'll plan for extraction.  The Talons are heading to town so we'll use them to create our diversion and exit corridor."

Zyra reached into her bag and pulls out a make-up box.  Opening the box, she slid a nail into a small groove in the side to reveal a hidden compartment.  Inside were two earpiece commlinks, one of which she handed to Cor.

"If something goes wrong, get out as quickly as you can."

"Shall we?"

Cor is challenged by the complex security for a minute or two then manages to slip into the system.  The Senator's computer becomes accessible to her.  Immediately she has access to the Senator's itinerary, holomessages, various files as well as a reasonable collection of photos of alien porn.  There is also quite a few pictures of the Senator in various states of undress with various alien girls, no doubt employees of Starfox Intergalactic.

There are other files, but thet are encrypted in another section of the computer.  There is also a network link to his office computer at the Senate but this undoubtedly carries heavy security and monitoring.

OOC:  DC30 for encrypted files, DC35 for network access.  A failure of more than 10 alerts the system to intrusion.

Breaking the encryption on the protected files proves fairly easy and Cor begins searching through the files.  There is plenty of work-related data work, reports, proposals, movements in the Senate, etc.  There is also some financial data, records of transactions, etc.  There is also details on one of the government accounts the Senator has access to for work functions.  Cor is able to slice the information meaning she could charge things to that account if she wished.

After Cor had finished her work on the Senator's computer the trio made their way quietly back updtairs without incident.  An hour or two passed as they went over the various data.

Zyra disappeared off into one of the bedrooms for a few minutes before returning and signalling to Cor to cut the security feeds.  Once this was done she explained the situation.

"Turns out the Talons are still on planet so I've brought them here to Sorren.  I've given them the job of making the Senator feel he's the target of an assassination attempt.  I sent them the juicy holos you have of the senator with alien prostitutes so the Talons can pose as anti-alien terrorists."

"The purpose of this is so that the Senator will want to be rid of us as soon as possible.  He'll be under scrutiny and we'll be an embarassment."

"You downloaded his holomail right?  Find the one from Starfox and copy it's format.  If all goes well I'll need you to send him an urgent holomessage stating Starfox is concerned about our safety and their clients anonymity and have sent a private transport to pick us up.  The Talons will supply the transport, the senator will get us departure clearance, avoiding customs and checkpoints like we did on the way in and we're home free."

She looked at Cor and smiled.  "I'm sure the Talons can do their job, but lets dream up a backup plan just in case something goes wrong.  I trust Mark to pull this off, but the Commander isn't here.  Hopefully the boys are up to it, the timeframe is so narrow."

She sighs.  "Let's see how they're going." she pulls out her commlink and slips it in her ear.  She offers Cor a second one. "Nine to Talons.  Progress report please.  We're on a tight schedule here."

Then she starts tapping away.  "If we had more time and preparation I could implant a datamining virus that looked like it had been copied to the system months ago but we haven't the luxury."  She filters through the Senator's email and copies the format as requested; easy enough to do.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

It had been a few tense hours of waiting.  Cor had monitored news channels, both public and private while Zyra listened to various chatter on the Talon comms, other comms and tapping into her range of contacts.  Cor had also been keeping in contact with A9 should the plucky droid need assistance.

Their security was largely assured.  The camera was not being looped at present as it would get suspicious.  Besides, two girls sitting around tapping on datapads did not look suspicious.  The guard droid Cor had sliced was still sending its feed to the Umbaran and sending her an alert everytime it headed up the stairs to their level.

Cor's attention was suddenly drawn to a police report that indicated the Senator had survived an attack by a small group of protestors.  The Senator was unharmed but one of his bodyguards had been wounded.  Eight civilians were dead, the rest had fled.  Seems the overzealous hotel guards had panicked and fired into the crowd.  It was uncertain why the attack had happen and their were few leads as they hadn't identified which of the dead were rioters and which were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

In short the attack had not achieved what Zyra had wanted.  The Senator was uninjured and while potentially shaken, wouldn't see need to send his whores away providing Zyra and Cor's exit window.

On the couch beside her Zyra was bringing up a map on her datapad, whilst sighing quietly to herself.  Cor had seen Zyra do this enough to know something was frustrating her.

Zyra stared into the middle distance for a few seconds before answering.

"Three is there, we are not.  Tell her to use her judgement but not to throw her life away in a useless gesture.  I can't believe they were there so long.  They should have got out an hour ago."

Cor nods hurriedly.  "I am sorry, I should have found them a location sooner."  She activates her comms again.

Zyra squeezes Cor's shoulder.  "Don't be silly.  You've been on the job about ten minutes.  Three and Ten should have been finished long before now.  I wonder what delayed them.  Hopefully they get to tell us."

Cor rubs her forehead and mutters to herself.  "No, I cannot tell what kind of traffic is coming.  Why would I have the capacity to monitor traffic?  I did not come equipped with surveillance droids, I came in hotpants."

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

Zyra smiled, though wether at Cor's tirade or the idea of her in hotpants was anybodys guess.

"It goes with the territory I'm afraid.  Work in any kind of intelligence or logistical capacity and the ground crews will want the impossible.  Mark always wants the passcodes to everything and for me to read our foe's minds.  If I could do that I'd make my living playing sabaac!"

"Get our people out alive.  If all goes well we should be able to evacuate them and the aliens together.  We can't just leave then now.  It would be as much of a death sentence as leaving them in the warehouse."

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Girl Talk

<TIME PASSES>

It had been a flurry of motion since the Senator had comm'd through orders to get the girls out.  Starfox had kindly contacted the Senator, promised him credit towards future purchases and secured a ship to transport the girls offworld.  In exchange the Senator would arrange the appropriate clearances so said ship could leave the sector without any pesky custom searches.  The Senator had readily agreed.

A limo had whisked the girls to the spaceport.  Fortunately they had already been packed or their luggage would likely would have been left.

Now the limo was idling outside a hangar at the spaceport.  Guards had made themselves scarce when given the Senator's authorisation codes.
