There is no way you could get another weapon in one hour.  Hell you couldn't even get a legitimate weapon in that time (and that's if you had all the permits and a clean ID) let alone an illegal sniper rifle.  Besides, you're the sniper,  shouldn't you be able to kill a man with a slingshot from one klick in high winds?

“as a hunter what information do you need to would he need?” asked Rann as he opened his datapad.

"At this point in time we need anything that will help get the Senator noticed, for the wrong reasons obviously. What we want to do is bring those holos to the surface so he gets discredited. Hell, if we could even get an angry crowd here, and post those holos, we might not even have to take a shot at him. That would make it easier for us. Also means when we go searching for Five that we won't have the Imperial army chasing us at the same time."

Noting how little time they have he says "I need to go and scout out an escape route. I'm going to be fairly close to the action and don't want to get caught. See if you can get us a crowd. Report back via comm in 30 minutes."

Xil heads off, keeping in mind that they don't want actual deaths, he heads to the vantage spot closest to the action.

“ right then I am going back to the holocaf and look up those hunting decoys for you” said Rann as he started walking back to the holocafé he just come from. Arriving at the holocafé he made a bit of small talk with the person behind the counter, then choose a different seat and then started looking through forums and other sources he could think of.

Getting all the information he could on the local anti-alien groups Rann started going round there know gathering spots he talks to different people trying to get together a large group to suit his needs

Small cantina a few blocks from the hotel

Rann distributes his holos and does his best to rouse any hardline xenophobes.  After several visits to various cantinas and a few covert holomails to a few anti-alien groups, Rann has generated a small group of angry residents.  They only number thirteen but they are clearly angry that their Senator would debase himself to sleep with aliens.  Rann stood in the cantina where he had gathered them all, a few blocks from the hotel.  He hadn't told them yet that the Senator would be nearby in only a few minutes.  Better to save the surprise.  If security knew they were coming, they'd be more prepared.


Vantage point

Xil scanned the skies with his macrobinoculars for the hundredth time, with the same care and precision he had done until now.  A sniper knew patience.  A quick check at his chrono showed the Senator should arrive almost anytime now.  Xil quickly thought over his plan.  He'd scanned the escape routes from the building and knew he had a few choices.  He'd selected his primary, secondary and even teritary means of egress.  He'd dismantled the E-11, cleaned it thoroughly and tested it's sights until it was as accurate as he could make it.  He'd observed the weather, likely landing spots and obstructions.  He was as ready as he could be.  Now all he needed was his target.

As if answering his thought, he noted an armoured government airspeeder rapidly approaching.  While he'd seen several dignitaries arrive for the meeting, this one's direction and speed made it most likely it was the Senator.

It was time to go to work.


OOC:  The speeder is about 90-120 seconds away.  Rann wont know this as he's in a noisy (thanks to his crowd) cantina a few hundred metres away.

The time to act had arrived. Xil quickly contacted Rann via the Talons comm "Six, Four. Target 90 seconds from destination. Time to move."

Having sent the message to Rann, Xil quickly went over the plan one last time in his head and then lifted his blaster rifle and focused on the incoming speeder.

looking at the small number he hopes this will do “ guess this will do”

“ confirmed four replied  Rann looked at his bunch of skinhead thug rioters  he whistled “ this senator has been lying to us..... he has been telling we most not trust the aliens when he has been bringing them to his bed ….. and I am sick of it ….. and I can tell that this lying senator is about to arrive at a hotel a couple of blocks away” he waits for this to set in “ I say we go and we tell him what we think of him are you with me …. ” he finished his speech letting the wind-up mob go.

Xil nodded to himself as he heard Rann's reply.

Getting onto the Talons comm again he said "Six, once you've got your group close to their destination slip away and start the search for Five. We need to find him and then get off world asap."

He looked down his rifle again focusing his concentration on the speeder. He wanted to avoid hitting innocent by standers and killing the Senator. It wasn't going to be easy.

While Rann's speech did get the crowd's attention and did get them moving, it didn't really whip them into the frenzy he had hoped for.  Still he was out of time and he had to work with what they have.  Waving, he led the group out the door and down the street.

From his vantage point Xil watched as the speeder cruised in and landed.  He silently cursed Rann for not having arrived yet but he knew this was unreasonable as time had been so tight.  Fortunately for them, the Senator's security made the time for them as they slowly exitted the vehicle and checked the perimeter.

Rann, now only fifty metres away could see the limo speeder and the two security men who had exitted it.  One moved around to the passenger door and openned it and a man stepped out, a man Rann recognised from their breifings as the Senator.  Granted he was wearing more clothes then in the holopics but it was undoubetedly him.


OOC:  The Senator has just exitted the limo.  One bodyguard is standing next to him, the other is on the far side of the limo.  The limo is parked about 20 metres from the front entrance to the hotel.  A hotel guard and an attendant stand at the entrance.

Rann your group is about 50 metres away and doesn't seem to have been noticed yet.

Xil focused his aim and concentration on the Senator that had just exited the speeder. He waited. He knew that would only get off one volley of shots before having to withdraw, he was just too close to do much else.

Only have to make it look like an assassination attempt he thought to himself. He wanted the crowd to be a bit closer so that the security forces would hopefully blame them initially, allowing him the time he needed to get away.

He took a deep breath and slowly let it out as he waited for the right moment to fire.

noticing the senator's speeder  Rann turns to the crowd “ Dam and I wanted to keep myself out to the side but in for a Decicred in for a credit” he thought to him self “ THERE HE IS.. ALIEN LOVER" he shouted pointing to the senator. “ wind them up and let them go” he thought as he let the small mob take over.

Nothing happened for a moment after Rann yelled and hesitation gripped his belly.  After what seemed an eternity, but couldn't have been more than five seconds, a second person yelled "ALIEN LOVER!".  Then a third joined, and a fourth.  Soon the whole group was shouting and pointing.

The security guards took notice of the yelling crowd though given their distance, they didn't seem too bothered.  In fact they could barely hear them.  They continued to watch the perimieter as a hotel staff member opened the limosuine door and the senator stepped out.

Xil immediately lined up his sights.  The speeder was partially obscuring his shot at the moment, as was the valet.  He needed the Senator to move away from the vehicle to place a decent shot.  His training told him the senator would be able to walk from speeder to door in about ten seconds.  That is all the time he'd have unless Rann somehow slowed him down.


OOC:  Rann, remember your group is 50 metres away.  They are not much of a threat to the senator at this point and might not even be heard properly.

Xil, you can take your shot any time.  At the moment the Senator has partial cover and there is no way Rann's group would be thought to have fired (to fat off and to the side to mistake the trajectory.  If you shoot now, they'll know the sniper wasn't in the crowd.  Of course if you wait too long you could miss the shot entirely!!!!

Xil took the moment before the senator got out of his speeder to take note of the crowd that Rann had gathered. He immediately knew that they were not close enough. Making a decision he says quickly on the Talons comm "Six, push them forward now"

Xil breathed slowly, using the control granted to him by years of training. Knowing when to take the shot was just as important as hitting your target. With his sights lined up on the Senator Xil prepared to take the shot. He would take it without the crowd present if needed. He had his escape routes planned and had evasion skills to use as he made his escape.

All Xil could do now was wait for the moment to arrive.

Hearing 4 message Rann looked at the mob “ALIEN LOVER” he shouted as he stepped forward hoping the rest follow him as he wants them closer to the speeder.

Following Rann's lead, the small crowd continued forward.  Others took up the shouting and the jeering and for the first time the guards seemed to take genuine notice.  The bodyguard on the side of the speeder near the crowd began speaking into a wrist comm.  The crowd was still too far away to be a direct threat so the guard with the senator moved him at a quick pace, though hardly a run.  The other guard followed, walking backwards to watch the crowd.

Xil watched as the Senator came more into view.  He had a clear shot now, but Rann was still too far away to blame any gunfire on the mob.  The sniper knew he had maybe fifteen seconds to shoot, the Senator actually slowed slightly by the guard defending him.  If Rann was to put the blame on the crowd he had to make his move now.

“LETS GET HIM” shouted Rann as he started to run forward.

Xil could see that Rann had done an admirable job.  While a couple of the group were slowing down, Rann included, at least six of the crowd were charging straight at the limo.  The two bodyguards drew blasters, as did the hotel guard.  They were shouting something but Xil was far too distant to have a chance of hearing.  As he kept his sights focused, he saw one guard start hurrying the Senator towards the door while the other covered them.

Then it happened, a blaster shot rang out.  Xil didn't see who had fired, his sights focused on the Senator, nor did it matter.  He had his moment.  The bodyguard was pulling the Senator along, but Xil had a clear shot at everyone; the Senator and all the guards.  He had only moments to shoot, it was now or never. . .

Xil silently thanked Rann for getting the crowd moving and quickly controlled his breathing as the moment to fire arrived. He picked his target, the guard with the senator was going to be the safest bet. If he had a proper sniper rifle then the Senator would be telling stories about the day he was actually shot, he would have to make do with stories of getting shot at.

Focusing his aim at the guard, he only really wanted to wound him, albeit seriously, and give the authorities someone to deal with besides the crowd so that he and Rann could get away.

Finishing a slow exhalation he fires.

OOC:Rolled 23 to shoot and wound the guard seriously.

Xil's shot is perfect and his single bolt strikes the bodyguard ushering the Senator along in the shoulder, sending him spinning.  The shot was less that ten centimetres from hitting the Senator and blood from the wounded guard sprayed all over his face.

Pandemonium ensued.  Someone began screaming and soon it was taken up by others.  People stared blankly, others began running.  The uninjured guard ran to cover his fallen partner and the Senator.  One of the hotel guards panicked and began spraying blaster bolts at anyone who came near him.  He hit at least three people before another guard snatched his blaster away.

Rann had already vanished.  Xil from his vantage point could see that the scene was chaos.  Looking quickly through his macrobinoculars, only the uninjured guard seemed in control, but he was bogged down with protecting the senator.  Next to him, the guard Xil had shot was staggering to his feet and providing cover as the Senator was herded into the hotel.

Surveying the chaotic scene Xil, decides that they had met their mission objective for the most part. Only one person seemed to be thinking rationally, just what he wanted, it was time to leave.

Making sure that he had not left anything behind that would identify him, he moves from his vantage point and follows his primary escape route.

As he makes his escape he quickly starts to re-prioritise his next steps. His primary concern now was for Jamie's safety, they had not heard from him and that could only be bad. He had also heard a message from Ten but as he was focused on the target had not paid much attention to it, he would address that when he was sure that there was no pursuing guards to deal with/ hide from.

"Six, Four - are you in the clear?" he asks Rann as he moves away from the hotel.

“ yes I am dear do you want me to pick any thing up on my way back dear?” said Rann in to the comm as he walked down the street 1 block away from the hotel.

"We need to find and pick up our missing boy" he replied "See if you can track down the largest local media outlet, gives us someplace to start at least."

Xil will find a local cantina/ restaurant, somewhere he can hole up for a short period of time before moving on. Along the way he will hide his blaster rifle, somewhere that he will be able to retrieve it when he started moving again.

He wanted someplace he could blend into the general populace, as well as get onto to the net and see what had been mentioned about the senator and to see if any other news may be floating around i.e. something that may relate to Jamie.

It took a few minutes for Xil and Rann to regroup given the fact that they had not agreed on a rendezvous point and their imprompty 'code' they were using.  Finally they teamed back up, hailed a taxi and headed towards the media outlet they suspected Jamie had gone too.

They were stopped by an imperial police officer about a block away.  The officer said they'd been an accident and they couldn't pass.  Using his macrobinoculars Xil examined the scene.  It looked like the back portion of a stormtrooper speeder had been blown off.  Bits of armour suggested that several stormtroopers had been caught in the blast.

Xil examined the scene for another minute.  Whilst no expert, he thought the explosion looked more like Jamie's handiwork then any conceivable accident.  It looked like someone had blown the back of the speeder off, maybe to escape?

His view was cut off as the taxi was forced to turn and head back the other way.  A block further and Xil and Rann exitted onto the sidewalk.


OOC:  There is waaay too much heat around to risk sneaking into the media outlet.  From the look of it Jamie has been making a scene.  Either he's escaped or he's in major trouble you probably can't help him with!

Xil hadn't said much as they traveled in the taxi, too many thought were going around in his head. He turns to Rann once out of the taxi "Looks like our chances of finding Five have become that bit slimmer." he shook his head in frustration.

After a moment he regathered himself and after making sure other pedestrians weren't too close he says on the secure comm "Four to Talon teams, coded sit-reps ASAP." Without knowing what exactly had happened to Jamie, he didn't want the rest of the teams blurting out obvious locations etc.
