Act 4 - Sidebar - Diplomatic Team

Team 3 - Diplomatic Team (Aryan and Sheila)

There is just an address and a note.

'I have recieved reliable intelligence that a group of alien protesters will be raided by Imperials tonight.  These aliens are not terrorists, they merely argue that they deserve equal rights.  Get to them before this evening, convince them to move out and render what assistance you can.  They are understandable very xenophobic towards humans so Eight, being the only non-human in your team, will need to earn their trust.  See them safely to another location.'

Sheila Masters:
Ooc  Do we need a speeder?

Consulting a map you find the safehouse is about 40km away on the far side of the city.  So an airspeeder could get there in under 10 minutes, a land speeder at least 30 minutes (though traffic will likely triple this or worse).

Zyra also pointed out this is time critical.  The sooner the aliens move, the less likely the stormtroopers will pick up their trail.

Exilim Nallis:
"Eight take the acquired speeder, the rest of us will work out how we will manage with Five's rented one. Time to move everyone, can't keep the XO waiting."

Wether you need one or not you have one at your disposal!

Aryan looks at the speeder that was used to help him escape. "thisa will do us, but wesa better be careful....they may be looking for its soon, so when we get there, you find a place to hide, and then dumps the speader and gets there."

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Diplomatic Team

Location: Near Alien Safehouse

Sheila works on pulling up her info but it proves unnecessary as by the time she's found net access, sliced it and started to pull up data, they've arrived near they're destination.  Aryan puts the airspeeder into a casual orbit which lets them see the area and they're target building.

The area seems like a run down residential/industrial district.  The noise from some heavy industry can be heard, even from the tens of meters they were in the air.

Intermingled amongst the factories were some cheaper accomodation.  Mostly large apartment blocks, with 'coffin-style' rooms.  Essentially small 1-room jobs that carried all amenities and were designed for those who chould not afford better.

The majority of the pedestrian traffic appeared human.  They couldn't be sure as many of the people wore hooded cloaks, even on these warmer days.

The address they'd been given for the alien group was actually a moderately-sized two storey warehouse.  It looked abandoned, the windows were boarded up and the fence around it seemed lock.  However Aryan trained eye, saw signs of habitation, even from above; the sturdiness of the doors, signs of speeder tracks, rubbish bins that were full but not overflowing with old rubbish.  People lived or worked there.

Partially. I just wanted you to weave it into your own story.  It doesn't really matter to the game if you park in a back alley, or in underground parking or a supermarket parking area.  Hell you could even write 'I park the speeder in an unobtrusive location'.  You know you can see places to park unobtrusively, just want you guys to come up with an idea rather than have me make a list of places.

Sheila pointed down at a building, roughly the equivalent of a strip mall about four blocks from the warehouse, the vehicles in the lot were similar to the one they were driving, one of the business being labeled vehicular resale.  THere was a cheap restaurant and two other stores with the resale place being at the end furthest from the warehouse they were going to.    "How about down there."

Aryan quickly brings the speeder down and lands in an empty space amongst numerous other speeders.  Powering the speeder down they look around.  There is light to moderate pedestrian traffic as people head shopping or to the restaraunts.  Vehicular traffic is light.  Nobody seems to be paying attention to the speeder as it sits there, it's two occupants staring around from behind tinted viewports.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Diplomatic Team

Sheila exitted the speeder and quickly mingles with the shopping crowd.  Finding a quiet cafe with an outdoor area, she made herself comfortable, ordered a drink and ensured her comm was on.

Aryan meanwhile had walked off in the direction of the warehouse.  The gungan noticed that while he still drew stares and some hostile looks, they were fewer than he'd experienced in Seba Grove.  Either the people around here were more tolerant of aliens or just more used to seeing them.  Either way, nobody bothered him as he made his way to the warehouse.

The building itself was surrounded by an old chanlink fence, about two metres high, topped with barbed wire.  The main gate was locked with a rusty, old-fashioned mechanical lock the kind that required a key, rather than a code.  Giving the lock a shake he found it was locked.

There was no sign of momement in the warehouse grounds, or from the warehouse itself, though Aryan's hunter's sense told him he was being observed.

Aryan, despite his sharp senses, looks casual as he looks at the building. He knows there is life in there....even if he didn't know the address, the signs point to it.

The gungan turned around and commenced looking at other buildings in the area, staying in sight of the building, looking at them up and down, then he sits on the side of the street in front of the building, and scratches his ear.

Aryan moved around to a less conspicious spot and began climbing.  Despite his lack of skill in the area, he managed the chain link fence without incident.  Reaching the top he tried to lift himself over the barbed wire but ended up cutting his arm and his leg.  He landed unceremoniously on the other side.  It hadn't been pretty, but he was in.  So far, nobody seemed to have noticed, either inside or outside the building.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Diplomatic Team

There was no truly concealed spot from which to approach the warehouse as it was surrounded by a chain link fence.  The best choice seemed to be the side that backed onto an alley which was less likely to have traffic.  About a third of the way along was a door.  It looked fairly sturdy, had an old mechanical key-style lock and was locked when Aryan gently tested it.  There was no other entrance on this side, save a boarded-up window on the second floor.

Meanwhile, from her vantage point outside the cafe Sheila noticed a parking officer was scanning car registrations, doing his job.  He scanned the stolen speeder they'd arrived in as part of his normal round.  He stopped in place, scanned it again and then pulled out a holocomm, dialled and then began talking into it.

There are too many police around here, so much for hiding a needle in a haystack.  She pays for her caf and moves off into the streets.  She hadn't left anything in the speeder except fingerprints, which were bad enough, so now she just had to make a great big circle of the warehouse and stay out of the way of stormtroopers.

"Oh my, of course." said the voice.

The door unbolted from the other side and an alien of a race Aryan was unfamiliar with stood facing the door.  Aryan assumed she was female from the voice and stature.  Her skin was a dark orange with white pigmentations around her eyes and greyish lips.  She had two long head tails, similar to that of a Twi'lek but she also had two horns protruding upwards.  The horns and head-tails were adorned with white stripes.

The alien quickly ushered Aryan inside then locked the door.

"I'm very surprised you lasted on the street so long.  The people around here are very intolerant of non-humans.  Most of us can't safely leave this building.  Only those who appear near human can go out to trade for supplies.  Even then they only go at dusk or later so they can better conceal themselves."

"My name is Raana by the way.  Let me get you something to eat, then you can tell me your story.  You look awfully like someone who is being hunted by the Imperials.  Supposedly shot some construction workers out east.  Was that you?"

For a half second, Sheila starts to panic and her hand goes to the fence, like she might be trying to climb it, but then she lets go and keeps walking toward the end of the alleyway with the single being there, watching them carefully.  She doesn't recognize the species, but a human female alone would probably be wary of others, particularly in an alleyway no matter what.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Diplomatic Team

The hooded figure continued to close quickly.  As he approached, Sheila could see the features were definitely not that of a human.  It's face was covered in orange fur, a flowing mane and short beard.  For a moment Sheila mistook it for a Bothan, but then saw the very leonine features anf the two tusks protruding from the jaw.

Her inspection of the alien's facial features nonwithstanding, she couldn't help but notice the metre long metal bar the creature had pulled from beneath it's cloak.  It's eyes never left Sheila's as it closed in quickly, it's gaze one of a hunter stalking prey.

OOC:  The alien will be on you next round so it's down to combat rounds.  His three friends are further back and wont catch up for another round or two.

In case you're interested, the alien is a Cathar, though Sheila doesn't recognise the species.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Diplomatic Team

Sheila gasped as the metal pole slammed into her back as she was halfway up the fence, knocking the breath from her and cutting off her call to Aryan.  The pole slammed into her again, this time in the shoulder causing her to lose her grip and fall back into the alley.  Fortunately she had only climbed a metre or so and she landed on her feet without injury.  Of course, when a big furry alien with a metal bat was swinging at you, avoiding injury was problematic!

To make matters worse, the other three figures were still closing, though they didn't seem to be rushing.  Clearly they didn't think they'd need to help.

Outside - Round 2

As Sheila brings her blaster to bear, the alien roars and bring his metal bar down in a viscious swing, striking the blaster and narrowly missing Sheila's fingers.  The force of the blow sends the weapon clattering to the ground.  Sheila barely has time to gasp before she has to arch backwards as the alien backswung and narrowly missed Sheila's head.

OOC: Disarm Successful, AoO missed.  The blaster is now on the ground by Sheila's feet.

Round 2

Aryan rushes out the door at Sheila's cry for assistance, Raana following on his heals.  As the Gungan rush outside he sees Sheila suddenly dive for her fallen blaster.  The Cathar swings at Sheila as she dives but the medic proves more nimble as she scoops up the weapon and rises to her feet.  Her victory is short lived as the alien swings again.  His forward swing knocks Sheila's blaster wide, her stun shot going harmlessly into the wall.  He cuts short the swing and swings back in a vicious swing that catches Sheila in the side of the head.  The blow sends her spinning to the ground thoroughly stunned.

Stop!" yells Aryan in basic.  Behind him Raana began yelling in a language that Aryan did not understand.

The Cathar takes his baton in both hands, lifting it high above his head preparing to finish off the fallen Sheila.

Aryan runs for the fence and jumps, grabbing the fence nearly two-thirds of the way up before nimbly climbing the rest of the way, vaulting over the barbed wire and landing in a neat crouch on the other side.  The gungan then span towards the Cathar expecting to already be too late.

The Cathar however had not finished off the stunned Sheila.  Instead the Cathar had moved away from the downed human and picked up her blaster.  As he did so he was arguing loudly in an unfamiliar language with Raana who was responding in much calmer tones.  Clearly Raana's intervention had stayed the Cathar's hand.

The trio of other robed figures had moved forward at Aryan's arrival, but the Cathar waved them back.

After conversing with Raana a few more seconds, the Cathar looked to Aryan.  The blaster was in his hand but the Cathar was not pointing it at anyone.

"Follow them.  Quickly." he says in heavily accented basic, gesturing with the blaster towards the trio of robed figures who were moving quickly down the alley.    "Bring. . .that" he gestures to Sheila in disgust.  Already the medic had recomposed herself and was getting to her feet with Aryan's help.

OOC:  Sheila, you can act freely once more.

The Rodian stares at Aryan strangely for a moment then stranges.  Retrieving the hood from the gungan's hands, he then proceeds to pull it over Aryan's head for him and tightening the straps.

Once both were sufficiently secured, the pair were both dragged down the street by one of the aliens.  The trip took several minutes and was quite disorienting.  They walked for a while then were ushered through a doorway.  They were then led down some stairs and through a passage that was very cold.  Eventually they were led upwards again and through some more doors.

Finally the pair were pushed into chairs and their hoods removed.  Taking a few moments to adjust to the light, the pair looking into the face of the alien Aryan knew as Raana and Sheila recognised as a Togruta.  She stared at them concernedly.

"I apologise for the methods used to bring you in here.  As you can understand, we need to keep our egress routes a closely guarded secret."

The Cathar, who was standing in the corner snorted.  Raana glared at him.  "Thank you Crado, can you check everything is secure?"  The Cathar glared at Sheila for a moment then left.

Raana sighed "I must apologise for Crado.  He has had a very difficult life and sadly know he views all humans with the kind of revulsion that Imperials show non-humans.  I have yet to convince him that to do so makes us no better than those who victimise us.  But he is young and his emotions are wild."

Her eyes turned with concern to Sheila.  "You are injured, let me offer what aid I can.  Sadly we have no doctor and very limited supplies.  We have many sick and wounded here.  But what little we have is yours."

Raana smiles.  "Yes, you keep mentioning an attack.  I shall get Crado back in to talk with us.  We'll just need. . ." she veers off in her speech but her look towards Sheila was enough.  She didn't want a human in the room with the volatile Cathar when discussing matters he needed to focus on.

"Uh, ma'am.  Sorry I don't know your name.  Perhaps you could link in on our sick.  We'd appreciate any help you can offer.  I will have Sien escort you.  I give you my work you will not recieve anymore adverse treatment while you are here."

She goes to the door and calls for Sien.  A sullustan female comes back and after a quick explanation from Raana, Sien leads Sheila from the room.  About a minute later Crado returns.  Seeing that only Raana and Aryan are in the room he enters and stands before Aryan.

"You say hoomans bring trouble.  What trouble of do you speak and how you help?"

Upstairs (Sheila)

Sien leads Sheila down a passage to a flight of stairs that lead to the top level.  The Sullustan talks eagerly to Sheila as she talks, so quickly that she has trouble tracking it all.  When they reach a moderately-sized dormatory her speech falters a bit.

"Our infirmary.  We have no doctor and limited supplies.  Can't take sick to the hospital so we do what we can."

Walking into the room Sheila finds over a dozen sick and wounded.  Sien hands her a basic medical case and shrugs.  Sheila notes the supplies are limited.  There are next to no pharmaceuticals, wound closers, etc.

As she does an initial work around, Sheila is amazed at the simplicity of the medical conditions she sees.  One rodian clearly has a chest infection, a sullustan has a wound that looks like it has become septic, a Cathar lies with a poorly mended broken leg.  A zabrak child in the corner seemed to be suffering from malnourishment and dehydration.  In a civilised city with access to modern medicine Sheila had to come to terms with the types of illnesses she was seeing.  A handful of intravenous infusions, some basic antibiotics and she could cure more than half the ailments in an hour.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Diplomatic Team

Sheila sets to work.  6 med kits and she could have had the whole room dealt with.  A quick discussion with Sien determines that there are no medical professionals of any kind with the group and they've been making do with Momsense.  Momsense is highly useful, but only goes so far.  Unfortunately, a medical professional with no supplies only goes so far either.

The child is easy and hard at the same time, it just needs food and hydration, but with a little help in questioning, actually the child is unable to keep fluids down.  She gets Sien to set the child's mother to feeding the child a tablespoon of fluid every 15 minutes, then in creasing the amount by a tablespoon each time until the child reacts poorly, then starting over again.  The rhodian with the flu needed to be treated similarly, keep the food and fluids up so the body could have a chance to heal itself, but fortunatly, no one else in the room was actually susceptible to Rhodian flu.  In fact, that was pretty much the entirety of her treatment modalities available, food and fluid.  She was able to clean the septic wound, using a bottle of cheap Zalerian brandy that Sien was able to dig up, and change the dressing, and suggested that they do that daily, until it got better.  The broken leg, all she could do was reinforce the splint, the break was healed enough that once they got some supplies, they'd have to rebreak and refuse the bone.  Until then the Cathar would have to have a splint all the time.

That'll take care of a couple hours alone.

Raana frowns at Crado's lack of tact then turns to the Gungan.  "You have no vehicle?  How did you plan to evacuate us if you don't have a speeder?  You must have had a plan?"  She seems genuinely suprised.  Behind her Crado continues to laugh.

Sheila sighed. Keeping her voice low. "Well, ask them.  The best bet would probably be for them to separate and go in small groups  to different places.  We weren't sent to rescue them ourselves, but to give warning. Even when we had the speeder, it wouldn't have been enough to get them all out.  But there's enough injured, I'll be here awhile."

Raana frowns at Crado but the Cathar seems not to notice.  Clearly Raana was the far more diplomatic of the two.  Crado was clearly much better at security and hand to hand combat then tact.

The Togruta looked to Aryan.  "Well we know that our own cargo speeder will be back in a few hours though that would only seat twelve or so cramped in.  Couldn't your friend just hire a speeder?  We can't, but she's a human."

Aryan smiles and nods at Raana in thanks, ignoring the comments from Crado.

"Wesa may need that speeder yet, but wesa see what we can do."

Aryan stood, waiting for Sheila to answer his plan.  Seconds turned into minutes without reply.  Either her comm had run out of power or she was ignoring him.  Unbeknownst to the Gungan, Sheila had been forced to rush to one of her patients who had gone into a seizure.  It took nearly ten minutes before she had the patient settled once more.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Diplomatic Team

One of the aliens leads her to the main gate.  Given that Sheila was human it was likely that nobody would pay much attention to her leaving the compound.  The rodian who escorted her wore a hooded cloak.  Without a word she was escorted off the property, the fence securely locked behind her.

Sheila having already worked out the dealer she was heading to, walked swiftly.  To save time, while she walked she logged back into the dealer's site on the holonet and booked the speeder electronically.  Once she arrived at the dealer, ten minutes later or booking and payment had been recieved and she was ready to drive away less than 10 minutes later.

Back at the warehouse Aryan was left to work out the important decisions with Raana and Crado.  Namely, where did the speeder load people from and where were they actually taking them?  Given the number of people in the house they'd still need to make 2-3 trips.

OOC:  I've taken the liberty of deducting the appropriate amounts from everyone's equipment as everyone seems to have 'forgotten'!  You only had enough for the deposit and 1 day's rental (which should be more than you need as you plan to leave the planet in a few hours!)

Raana stood patiently near Aryan, having no idea what conversations he might be having on his earpiece comm.  Her patience turned to surprise when she saw Crado and three other aliens walk in armed.  Aryan recognised them as the three who had helped the Cathar ambush Sheila.  Now each had a blaster pistol tucked in his pants or in a pocket and two wore what looked like surplus chest armour, probably left over from the Clone Wars.

Crado glared at Aryan.  "We go last.  Stay and fight if must.  Raana you go with group first.  Will need you."

Raana made to protest but Crado glared.  "You leader, you must go with others.  I go last." his voice made it clear he was not about to negotiate.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Diplomatic Team

Sheila was only a few minutes from the warehouse when she heard a siren behind her.  Looking behind her she saw a military-grade speeder closing on her rapidly.  Having no choice, she pulled to the side and the speeder rocketed past.  As it did her heart sank.  She recognised the speeder from her Imperial days.  It was a stormtrooper transport speeder and was equipped to carry a full squad of armed and armoured stormtroopers.  What was worse was that it was heading in the same direction as she had been.  The odds were high that this was the attack Zyra had sent them to warn the aliens about.

OOC: You're about two minutes from the warehouse so the stromtrooper speeder (if it's heading there) will be there in the same amount of time.  However they'll beat Sheila back unless you plan to try and overtake them.

A stormtrooper squad consists of nine trooper - 8 troopers (including a corporal) plus a sergeant.  A stormtrooper transport can hold ten soldiers in total as sometimes an officer comes along too.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Diplomatic Team

Sheila continually updated Aryan on the speeder's position as she followed at a discrete distance.  It seemed more and more likely that it was heading for the warehouse.

Inside the warehouse, Raana had run off to split the refugees into two groups when Aryan instructed her to.  When Sheila's warning of Imperials approaching came through only Aryan, Crado and Crado's three bruisers were in the room.

The Gungan had been staring at the map and not issued any orders, his mind racing with so many decisions to make and now it was too late.  He and Crado both heard the speeder come to a halt outside.  As a group, the five aliens ran to a boarded window to see what was happening.

From street level, idling her speeder a block away, Sheila had a much better view.  The speeder had halted and stormtroopers were pouring out.  Without pausing, one of the troopers drew a fusion cutter and burned through the lock on the gate.  Then three troopers ran towards the house.  As they ran, one group of three ran for the main door, a second group of three moved for the side door.  The last group remained with the speeder.  Sheila noticed the speeder group had four troopers instead of three.  She quickly picked the officer as he was the only one who had his blaster slung, instead was tapping away on a datapad.

OOC:  Well Sheila you can see everything, Aryan you can't see much as the window is boarded.  You could pull/kick the boards out and get better line of sight but then the troopers will have your position.

In the house, only Aryan, Crado and the three thugs know of the speeders arrival for sure (Raana is busy getting everyone ready for evac so might not have heard the speeder).

Remember any Talon can be listening in on this channel if they want.  Xil and Cor are definitely listening in.  Devon's team might be using a different channel (the Talon comms have about 10 channels they can use).

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Diplomatic Team

TACTICAL UPDATE
Was going to PM this to Aryan and Sheila but thought everyone might be interested in this.

Gonna give you both a layout of the warehouse so you know what you're working with.  I'm basically just cutting and pasting from existing posts.  I'll add a little more as I haven't told you lots about the interior.

The building is a moderately-sized two storey warehouse.  From the outside it appears abandoned unless you look closely (Aryan noticed signs of habitation).

The warehouse is surrounded be a two-metre high chain-link fence topped with barbed wire (that Aryan climbed when they first arrived).  There is a single entrance through the fence - a double gate that is (well was) locked with an old fashioned key padlock.

The only windows are on the second floor and they are all boarded up.

There are two obvious entrances to the warehouse: the main entrance, which is a huge double-doors on the same side of the building as the gate entrance.  There is a second entrance on the side (a single door with a key lock).  Aryan entered the building through the side entrance.

There is a third entrance.  A trap door leads down into a sewer and then through a narrow passage into a shed that is about one hundred metres beyond the fence line.  The shed is not visible from the warehouse.  The shed has about 150 square metres of floor space.  The passage is too narrow to take a stretcher through without great difficulty.  The shed is normally used to house the speeder (which Heigran is out with) and covertly transport supplies and people in and out of the warehouse.

The warehouse has two levels.  The bottom level was originally the storage/work area but the aliens have curtained it off into several 'rooms'.  There's an area with basic wash and sanitation facilities and an area used for storage.

Upstairs there are two large dormitories (one used as an infirmary, the other houses all the aliens) and a few extra rooms used as classrooms, workrooms, etc.

Inside there are 31 aliens (32 including aryan).  About a dozen are wounded, 4 so seriously they can't walk and would need to be stretchered.

Aryan is unarmed.  Crado and his 3 cronies all have blaster pistols and basic melee weapons (lengths of pipes, pieces of wood).  They are currently in the classroom watching the stormies arrive through a boarded-up window.  The rest of the aliens are with Raana in the infirmary where she is splitting the aliens into two teams (as per the instructions from Aryan/Sheila).

The stormtroopers are already on the warehouse grounds.  Three are heading for the main door, three for the side door.  Four more are near the speeder, one looking like an officer, one trooper standing with him.  The other two seem to be external security.  You estimate the stormtroopers will breach the warehouse in under a minute.  There is NO way you could get 31 healthy aliens down the stairs and into the tunnels (and conceal the tunnel) in time.  As it is you have a mix of children and elderly.  You also have wounded who need to be stretchered down.

The only transport the aliens have is a cargo speeder but it's not here.  Apparently Heigren is off on a supply run and is not expected back until well after nightfall (at least an hour as it's already evening).

Any further questions please ask ASAP (as we'll be going to combat rounds soon)

Activating his comm, Aryan whispers into it.  "this is eight. Wesa have company. Three, where are you?"

He speaks as he makes his way to the side entrance.

I want to go to the shed.  they have an exit there, it looks like the imps don't know about it.  Put on one of them on to give me exact directions to the shed.  well cram as many of the nonfighters in there and I'll get them someplace. asnd if possible, have them unlock it.  Eleven, any ideas on a place to go.  I'm getting nothing.

Sheila will try to skirt the imps, go around their cordoned off area, like any one trying to get to work but shit, there's an operation going on.

Re: Act 4 - Sidebar - Diplomatic Team

Receiving the address, Sheila drives around the block and pulls into a quiet alley.  Stopping outside the third building, a small non-descript shed, she waits.  About half a minute later a young Sullustan cautiously opens the door and looks around, seeing Sheila she shies back.

Inside the warhehouse, the aliens rushed for the trapdoor.  Raana had sent one of the teenagers ahead with the keys and was now directing the children and elderly into the trapdoor.

From his position at the side door, Aryan heard the troopers approach.  A loud pop saw the lock blow off and a stormtrooper rushed inside.  Two more were behind.

OOC:  Combat rounds.  So 2 day turnaround on posts max guys!

As far as Aryan is aware, the main door hasn't been breached. . .yet!

The gungan listened carefully, then sprang into action

Battle round 0 (Suprise round)

As the lead stormtrooper walked past his cover, Aryan spurred into motion.  With blinding speed the Gungan moved forward in a spin, attempting to pin the blaster to his side whilst locking the troopers wrist to pop the weapon out of his hands.  The sound of a rifle shot went off but Aryan completed his maneuver and stood holding the trooper's rifle, the stormtrooper right in front of him.

Aryan felt a burning sensation in his hip and realised he hadn't escaped unscathed.  The rifle shot had burned his side, but not seriously enough to impede him.

In the doorway, the last two stormtroopers brought their weapons up.

OOC:  Stormtroopers AoO succeeded but so did your disarm.  The trooper right in front of you is disarmed and right in front of you.  The two troopers coming in the door are two metres to Aryan's right.  They will act next round, as will Aryan fellow defender who is a little under four metres behind the disarmed trooper.

Aryan is now the proud possessor of an E-11 blaster rifle!  Though I'm sure the stormtrooper would like it returned if you don't mind!

Doesn't sound like the other side has been breached yet.

Battle rounds 1 & 2

Aryan let the rifle's sling fall across him as he released the weapons and moved in on the stormtrooper.  Grabbing the already outstretched arm, aryan spun under it, coming up behind the trooper and locking the armoured hand behind him with so much force a joint popped causing the trooper to grunt in pain.  Aryan wrapped his other arm around the troopers throat, trying to keep the soldier between him and the other two troopers.

The other two stormtroopers however had other problems initially.  Emboldened by Aryan's skill, the Rodian working with him jumped out and poured blaster fire at the two troopers.  He scored a hit, his bolt catching a trooper in the waist between a pair of plates, causing him to stagger slightly.  The trooper gasped then both he and his partner brought up their weapon in unison and fired at the Rodian.

Every shot was a hit, the Rodian was blasted a full two metres backwards, his head literally exploding from the superheated liquids in his skull as one shot took him directly in the eyeballs.  Aryan heard the Rodian squish to the ground well behind him.  However, his pistol fell only a metre to the Gungan's side.

The two troopers took no time to savour their victory but immediately began to flank Aryan, one going left, the other right.

Behind him, Aryan heard a loud explosion, followed by the sounds of blaster fire.  The other team had clearly breached the front doors.  From the screams he was hearing, people were getting hit though he couldn't tell if it was friend or foe.

OOC: 53 wound points in one round (one stormtrooper got a crit) has made your NPC friend very, VERY dead.  You've currently got one trooper pinned but you can't do anything else as you can only use a light weapon when you have an enemy pinned (as per the grapple rules) and your rifle is a medium weapon (too bad you haven't got that pistol near your feet, that's a light weapon).  Your vibrodagger is a light weapons and could be used (assuming you can reach it - i.e. it's not in your boot or something).  So you can continue to grapple, drop the trooper and use your slung rifle or drop the trooper, grab the pistol and try to grapple again.  Or run like hell!

The stormtrooper also has a frag grenade and a grappling hook on his belt.  You could try to grab one of these as well if you liked.

Battle rounds 3 & 4

Acting quickly, Aryan hurls the pinned stormtrooper at the injured stormtrooper, causing him to stagger and throwing off his aim.  The Gungan then grabs his slung rifle, takes aim at the uninjured stormtrooper and fires a single shot catching him in the chest piece.

The ablative armour stops some of the blaster force, but not all of it and the trooper staggers backwards.  It's not enough to stop him and now Aryan finds himself looking down the barrels of two troopers with blaster rifles.  The third is hanging back slightly, waiting for an opening.

In the background Aryan can hear the fight at the front gate suddenly go quiet.  All he could hear was the mad panic of the aliens refugees scrambling for the trap door.  Whatever was happening at the main gate was clearly over.  Who had won was anyone's guess.

OOC:  Aryan now faces three stormtroopers.  All injured but not injured enough.  Two have rifles, the third is staying behind his comrades for now.

Battle rounds 5-7

<INSIDE>

The three stormtroopers open up on Aryan and the Gungan fights purely on instinct, ducking, dodging and firing without much conscious thought.  A bolt catches a stormtrooper in the throat, another takes a wounded trooper in the chest plate.  A third shot is deflected by another trooper's armour.

Time seems to move so slow for the Gungan.  Only twenty seconds or so had past but they had stretched out for him.  Already he had dropped two of the stormtroopers and hit the third, though his armour had deflected the shot.  Aryan himself had not escaped totally unscathed.  A burn across his thigh reminded him of a near miss and how lucky he had been so far.

Luck however was not with everyone.  Behind him, Aryan heard the voices of panic and confusion of the fleeing refugees turn to screams of pain and terror.  Whilst he couldn't see what was happening it was clear that stormtroopers were firing at the civilians.  Either Crado and his team had fled, been pushed back or were dead.

<OUTSIDE>

When Sheila spoke the Sullustan girl poked her head out tentatively.  Sheila guessed she wasn't more than 14.

"You. . .you the human who help?" she asked fearfully.  She cringed as if she expected Sheila to beat her then pointed inside.

"People coming through.  Auntie Raana say old, young and sick go first."

OOC:  Aryan is facing a single stormie, though all hell has broken loose in the warehouse behind him.  You can't see through all the curtains but it sounds like stormtroopers are shooting at civilians.

Sheila, if you look inside the warehouse you'll see three young aliens inside, none older than mid teen.  They're helping elderly aliens up the ladder.  Raana is nowhere to be seen.

The kids all look scared stiff of you.

Battle rounds 8-11

Aryan and the last stormtrooper traded fire as they moved, ducked and took what cover they could.  Finally a lucky shot from Aryan deflected off the trooper's chest plate and up into his skull.  The final stormtrooper fell with a sigh.

The Gungan took a moment to catch his breath before moving as quickly and quietly as he could.  Reaching the dividing curtain his worst fears were realised.  The bodies of over a dozen aliens littered the floor.  Two stormtroopers stood shooting at anyone who moved.  Two aliens dived for the trap door.  One managed to fall down the hole, the other took a blaster in the back.  The stormtrooper then casually pulled a grenade and tossed it down the hole.

To one side, Aryan noticed a small group of aliens were still alive.  Raana was shielding five other aliens behind a table, looking desperately around for an escape route.  It would only take moments before the stormtroopers spotted them and turned their cover into toothpicks.

OOC: No sign of Crado and his team.  At least a dozen dead aliens (there were 31 to start with).  Six (including Raana) are cowering behind a table.  There are two stormtroopers as best you can tell (and they're not exactly masters of stealth)

"It's so terrible.  Crado and his friends couldn't hold them.  They, they killed them all.  Some escaped into the tunnel, not many.  Raana insisted the wounded go first.  Those caught upstairs. . .the stormtroopers. . .opened fire on them"  she broke off as tears came to her eyes, the thought of so many innocents gunned down before her.

She shook off her tears.  "We have more wounded down there.  The stormtroopers dropped a grenade down the hole.  Killed two, injured several.  We're getting them up as fast as we can."

Sheila begins firing her blaster pistol, trying to concentrate her fire on the roof just in front of the stormtroopers.  The bolts fail to cause much damage to the sturdy roof, especially when she couldn't tightly group her shots at such range.

The shooting did have an alternate effect though.  The stormtroopers who hadn't made a move to this point suddenly opened fire on Sheila and their rifles, much more accurate at range flew perilously close to the slicer.  The two troopers advanced as they fired.

OOC:  At just over 40 metres you were taking a -6 penalty to your attacks, only an expert marksman could group their shots at such range.

Well the troopers are now advancing.  And to make things worse, blaster rifles take no penalties at all at 40 metres!

Battle Rounds 1-6

Sheila fired a few ineffectual shots and began to retreat.  The stormtroopers gave chase, blasters firing.

About twenty metres back, Sheila got to a point she could retreat no more.  The aliens were only just behind her and would be in the field of fire if she went any further.  She also noticed the last part of the tunnel was too narrow for two stormtroopers to advance abreast, which cut down the amount of bolts that would fly at her.  She crammed herself into a niche as best she could and started firing.

The next minute was a blur of fire and panic.  Bolts flew in both directions.  Sheila cursed as she hit the troopers several times.  They were hard to miss, but their armour shrugged off or lessened the impact of her little pistol shots.  However after three sustained hits, one went down, the other rapidly pursuing.  Sheila kept firing, the stormtrooper getting closer and closer.  Finally, when she felt he must envelop her, a bolt finally brought the trooper low, less than five metres from her position.

Sheila quickly checked herself and found she wasn't badly hurt.  She had some burns that she should tend when time allowed but nothing that would slow her down in the short term.  The stormtrooper near her she noticed wasn't so lucky.  He wasn't dead yet, but the white of his armour was growing red at the waist where his blood was rapidly pouring out, meaning she'd severed some major vein or artery.

Behind her an alien ran up to her.  "You. . .you stopped them." The alien was quite young and likely grown up on stories about indestructable stormtroopers, the scourge of the wicked.  "We only have one more stretcher to get up.  We'll be ready in a minute or so."

OOC:  Congratulations Sheila, you have just downed two stormtroopers and saved the aliens.  The tunnel is clear for now and the aliens are moving quickly to get the wounded upstairs.  You can also help yourself to a nice blaster rifle or other goodies you saw fit.

Outside

Burdened by her newly acquired gear, Sheila made her way back to the ladder leading up.  She saw they were just getting the last of the injured aliens up now.  There had been two but one had clearly caught a blaster shot from one of the stormtroopers intended for Sheila.

Within a minute they had loaded the last of the injured aliens into the speeder, then the rest began cramming in.  It would be a tight squeeze, but Sheila thought they'd get all fifteen in.  Already the injured were moaning in pain from all the people squashing in on them.

Sheila slid into the driver's seat prepared to move out then felt the acid in her stomach rise.  A stormtrooper command speeder suddenly came into view, parking across the exit to the alley only ten to fifteen metres away.  Two stormtroopers had exited the vehicle and were looking down the path at them.

She wished Aryan was with her, but the Gungan was not answering his comm.  It was possible his comm was damaged or he was keeping silent on purpose but something in her gut told her it was something far worse.

OOC:  Sheila, either this is the same command speeder from in front of the warehouse or they've called in reinforcements.  They're blocking the alley (which has one exit) with their speeder.  Currently you've only seen two troopers and neither has made a move towards you, they're just standing there.

On a side note, landspeeder can hover up to a couple of metres above the ground so it's possible you could fly over their speeder (though troopers shooting at your undercarriage could kill your repulsors.  Ramming is a possibility.  However their speeder has light armour, yours does not.  The vehicles are similar in weight.

You now have:

E-11 Blaster Rifle x 2
Frag Grenade x 2
Grappling hook x 2
Stormtrooper utility belt x 2

Please add them to your equipment list.  Items not on your list don't exist!

Re: Outside

Sheila hands one of the blasters to a passenger, prepared a frag grenade then guns the repulsors.  With a quick prayer she rams the throttle to full, throws max power to the repulsorlifts in an effort to get over the speeder.  As she closes she hurls a grenade out the window and orders the passenger to shoot.

Things happen in a blur and too quickly to see all.  The passenger fires a few wild shots but they go nowhere near as they're too busy cowering from the sustained stormtrooper fire hitting the speeder.

The speeder flies over the stormtrooper's heads before the hurled grenade explodes.  The trooper's fire slackens to nothing as they hurl themselves behind cover.  Then the speeder clears the command vehicle. scraping it slightly then Sheila is on open road.

Her speeder keeps pulling to the left slightly and she has to divert power to one of the rear left repulsors.  Clearly the troopers had hit a repulsorlift.  It was forcing her to reduce speed to divert power and she had to hold the speeder on course as it kept trying to veer left.

A shout from the back made her look in her rear display.  The stormtrooper vehicle was in pursuit.  She had a headstart but she wasn't sure how long it would last.

OOC:  You bought yourself about a 20 second head start.  The stormtrooper speeder is a few hundred metres back.

Sheila focused on putting as much speed as possible while holding the speeder on course.  It took a great deal of concentration so she assigned one of her front seat passengers, a young boy to watch the stormtrooper progress.

After about thirty seconds he cried.  "I think you lost them."  Sheila checked her rear mirrors and scanners and she thought for a minute she had too.  Then she noticed them, several blocks back.

She was so focused on the speeder that her speed eased off.  When she realised she applied speed again but the stormtrooper gained no ground, remaining several blocks behind.  She lost sight of it at times, only picking it up again because it was so distinctive (being an armoured stormtrooper carrier).
