Re: Act 5.4.1 - A Hotel Floor Where Something is Happening
Dohr had a look at the direction Jit had disappeared and considered his options. The room with the dance floor looked somewhat intimidating to him. He had never enjoyed swaying alone or with a partner or even multiple partners to the rhythm of music, be that human, Kel Dorian or any other. The doctor liked music as much as the next man or probably even more. But the sounds filling the air of the whole floor weren't exactly his type of music, if it was music at all. And it certainly didn't make his hips move one bit. No, he'd let the Twi'lek enter the jungle of sweaty bodies without him.
As he stood a couple of meters from Vyn Teckla and doctor Carstairs, Dohr couldn't help overhearing parts of the conversation they were having. Back at the tracks Dohr had thought Ms. Carstairs could've been the racer's - K's - elder sister. But now it seemed she was more like a mother figure for more than one of the group's members, if that was what Vyn Teckla was. Dohr felt more than a little guilty about catching a few words here and there. He did his best not to listen, but the woman was clearly very concerned and spoke quite anxiously while forgetting to keep her voice low all the time. The noise from the loudspeakers hid most of the things said between the host of the party and the female doctor, so Dohr didn't get any details and he was pleased he didn't.
He tried desperately to find a place to escape to, but didn't really succeed. During his years as a doctor and criss-crossing the galaxy, Dohr had learned to sense the mood and motives of people from their body language, voice and words. And right now, although Vyn was being very polite, Dohr had a feeling he really didn't want Ms. Carstairs breathing down his neck as he was receiving new quests. The Kel Dor was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable and knew he had to move soon. Otherwise it might seem he really was spying on the duo. He picked an empty spot by the wall across the hallway and started heading towards it when a thought hit him. If the doc was in the party, then would 'K' be there too? And the Duros? Was it just a coincidence?
Despite the suspicion creeping into his mind, Dohr couldn't help thinking about the young speeder bike pilot. He assumed the girl was ok as at least some of her companions were present at the party. Be it a happenstance or not, Dohr didn't think doctor Carstair's group was responsible for the death of his assistant less than a day ago. So after a couple of steps he stopped and turned back as if he'd just remembered something like he in a way had. The Kel Dorian limped past Vyn, patted him on the shoulder as a form of appreciation and said quietly: "You can thank me later." He then spread his arms in a kind of apology and flashed a genuine "smile" at Janine (as much as he could considering he was wearing a breathing mask and goggles).
"Please forgive me for interrupting your chat with Mr. Teckla, doctor Carstairs. But I was wondering if I could have a word with you about young 'K'?" The Kel Dor took a few steps to the side and carried on: "You see I like to follow up on the state of my patients whenever possible. However in your friend's situation, such a thing was not possible and frankly not even truly necessary as I was able to leave her in your capable hands and care. Nevertheless, I would really appreciate it if you could give me a quick update on her condition, for as you know, sometimes a simple concussion can hide the signs of a more serious injury and I would prefer to rule any such out."
