Re: Act 5.5.6: Det Akari Spaceport
The arrival of the little man confirmed Dohr's fears. Apparently, and unfortunately, the female officer was not in charge of the whole station's security forces. The important looking little twat could turn into a serious problem unless he could be dealt with quickly. For a second Dohr played with the idea of shooting the man even if it would be a suicide. The doctor had met his kind many times, too many times even, before. The commander was far more dangerous than any of the armed troops in the hall.
It was not his place to do so and he probably stepped on Devon's toes, but as a fellow officer and someone trained in diplomacy, Dohr felt he might be able to do a better job than the others. Heigren with his wonderful smiles and smoothing words might just drive the idiot over the edge. The Kel Dorian did not touch his weapons on the floor, but kept his free hand raised instead and took a few limping and slow steps towards the man in charge. He made sure he didn't get too much closer as that might simply have made things worse. He had to act fast. Idaya was right in asking for the woman to let them go, but Dohr feared that might only draw another yell from the commander.
"Sir, might I beg for an audience with you? My name is Dohr Veen and I am a doctor of medicine with a permit to practice my profession on Det Akari. I would very much appreciate it, if you could spare me a minute of your time." Dohr kept his voice even and calm looked directly at the commander ignoring the officer and any blasters still possibly aimed at his direction. He'd been in similar situations before and knew he had to keep the power-mad human thinking he was still fully in charge of the situation. And even if wouldn't be able to persuade the fool to let them go, he would still buy them valuable seconds. The way he saw it, it would be better to have the tank knocking on the door than to have the security force strip them of their weapons again. In the chaos caused by the imminent attack, they would have a better chance of getting away. Of course the best option would be to get the little man's permission very quickly and get the hell out of the hall before the first blast hit the shields.
OOC: Aarrgh! What a crappy roll in a situation like this.
10:37, Today: Dohr Veen rolled 16 using 1d20+11. Diplomacy roll.
