Re: Act 6.1: Shore Leave (Take 2)
Dohr was the last to arrive into the debriefing room. He too had visited a refresher suited for his kind. Standing under a freezing cold shower, the Kel Dor had cleared his mind of the anxiety, excitement and confusion of the battle while taking in deep breaths of the Dorinian atmosphere. Like always the gas mixture had had an industrial, metallic ting to it. And like always Dohr had been somewhat surprised to taste it even after all these years as it had really been a long, long time since he'd last visited the homeworld. When fully relaxed, the former major of the Dorinian Armed Forces had gone through the short and hectic space battle in his mind. He had not been the commander this time, but he wondered if something could have been done differently. Should he have done something another way? Having very little experience of ship to ship battles it was really hard for him to say.
Stepping through the doorway to the room, Dohr was sure he would soon find out. He was actually looking forward to it. The day had been filled with a number of exercises and he had enjoyed it immensely, but the doctor knew it would and could not last. They were not here just for fun. Perhaps their assessment was now over and Dohr and Idaya would soon hear whether they would be accepted into the group of mercenaries or not. The Kel Dor gave everyone present a customary bow and limped to the refreshments table to grab a non-alcoholic drink.
Obviously he'd missed everything of the conversation before Fiarr's question and repeated the complements given by Idaya and Mika. "I would like to congratulate the Blue team on your victory. Clearly we were not on your level in this battle. But despite of that or perhaps due to it, I personally found the simulation so fascinating I completely forgot it was virtual and none of our crew members' lives were really in danger. I would like to think it was my excitement that made me shoot so poorly rather than my lack of skill…" The Doc was certainly smiling behind his mask and perhaps the others had already learned to recognize some of his expressions to see it too.
Dohr turned to bow to Fiarr. "We were overwhelmed by your superior skills, Fiarr. We fought as well as we could, but obviously that was not enough today. I can only hope the good people of the freighters along with their indecent, blabbering captains lived to see another day…" With the last remark the Kel Dor gave a theatrical and certainly exaggerated bow to Vyn.
