Completing the mission in the given time would be tough. With only fifteen minutes on the clock, there would be very little time for recon. Once they got inside the enemy building, getting to the 10th floor to type in the command would be the easy part. Generic urban combat in cramped surroundings between two equally equipped parties. Could be done. But getting to the building would be the thing. Crossing a strip 200 meters long without much cover under enemy fire would be lethal, were it for real. Now… Now it could cost their team a victory and Dohr as well as Idaya a loss of face.

This wasn't the first time either were in such a situation however. The two stood a little apart from the rest and chatted in hushed voices. Both were talking, listening and nodding to the other's suggestions and it didn't take all of the two minutes to come up with a plan. It would work or then not, but it was all they had time for.

Dohr nodded one final time to Idaya and turned to the others: "Ok. Listen up. This is how we will do it. Three teams. One for defense: Ten, Three and…" Dohr took a second as he looked at Heigren and considered. If the Zeltron had a call sign, he'd missed it. "We will call you Twelve for the duration of this exercise. I will be part of this team, DT, as well. I am Two-Zero. Pick up DL-18s and a single pack each. I will  take one of the rifles and an E-11s."

"Assault Team One or AT1: Hammer. You are now, Two-One. You will be accompanied by Seven and CC9. Two-One will take the 21 and a pistol or a rifle, four power packs. For you two, a DL18 and an E-11 each, both clipped. No extra ammo."

"Assault Team Two, AT2: Two, Two-Two ie. Fiarr and Three-Zero, Idaya. Same armament, but Two will take an E11 as well as an E11s and three packs. And everyone on every team will take a Stun baton as well. Even you have to carry a humming stick, Twelve, even if you consider yourself... well equipped without it."

The Kel Dorian didn't wait for the team to finish picking up weapons, but carried on while they armed themselves speaking with a slightly louder voice to be heard over the clicking sounds of readying blasters. "DT will, as the name implies, stay back making sure the enemy will not be able to enter through either of the stairwells."

"Assault teams One and Two. You will leapfrog across the strip giving covering fire to each other. 50m sprints. Take cover behind anything you can find. But before you head out, we will scan the target building from the cover of our doorways trying to find the enemy snipers. We can not afford to use more than two minutes  for this. On Three-Zero's go, AT2 will start firing and AT1 will move out. I will provide more cover from the second floor."

Dohr then turned to Fiarr. "I have gotten the impression that as a covert operative you can move around unnoticed. How are you skills in breaking and entering? Would you feel comfortable accessing the tenth floor via the elevator shaft? If you do not consider using it safe and fast enough then we will need to create a diversion in one of the stairwells to give you a chance to access the other one without having to deal with half of the enemy force."

"As we do not know whether the enemy will charge or go on full defense, we will need to prepare for everything."

"Any questions? If not, AT1 and AT2 head downstairs and be ready to move out on Three-Zero's command." DT. Take your positions at the first floor of the stairwell, well in cover but prepared to take out anyone coming inside. Twelve take the left side. I will join you there. Three and Ten, the right side stairs are yours."

"Go!"


OOC: Dohr will of course listen to and answer the questions if there are any and if they do not eat up too much time.

Idaya nodded at Dohr's plan. "Now, when we get inside the enemy structure, the teams will move as follows. Along corridors, we traverse both sides so we can open fire en-mass at anything we encounter. Taking corners will require the team in a single file with the first man taking a quick peep around the corner for enemies and then kneeling in to a firing position with the second man coming after him and firing from standing position. One pair of eyes will be directed at the rear of the team constantly, so we do not get taken by surprise."

There was a brief pause. "Needless to say, communication between the teams is of utmost importance, so we can coordinate our actions. Fiarr, should you be able to make the climb through the elevator shaft, keep us posted of your progress so we can draw the enemy from their command center to allow you to punch in the code."

Mika gives a nod at her assignment, that being to stick tight on the defense.  Pulling one of the boasters, she snaps in a power pack and picks up a stun baton.  Funny, her exact thoughts on the appropriate load.  "Think it's worth trying to do any slicing of the console or something of that nature."

Kyvarr nodded.  "Yes sir."

She moved over to the cupboard and pulled out the T-21, a stun baton and a pistol as well as the assigned number of power packs.  Kyvaar didn't bother with an E-11.  If the situation did not call for the repeater then she was likely already in close quarters combat where a rifle tended to be too bulky.

She then looked to CC9 and Devon.  "Gentleman, arm yourselves."

Fiarr raised an eyebrow slightly as Dohr outlined the plan but said nothing.  When asked by Dohr and Idaya about her intrusion she shrugged.

"I never break when I enter. As for the elevator shaft, unless it has a ladder or you packed an ascension gun I doubt its an option for me.  Climbing shafts in not my speciality."

Devon nods his understanding of their orders and hurries to pass weapons out to his team.  With that done, he trots to the nearest stairwell and peers down it, rifle in hand and ready.
He turns and nods to CC9 and Kyvarr.
"Come on, Assault 1 - times wasting."

As Dohr briefed everyone, Devon began handing out weapons to the appropriate people then moved aside for others to grab what they would.  So intently were people focusing on Dohr's briefing that they missed the announcer calling the simulation start.  In fact by the time Dohr and Idaya had finished their briefing, the game clock on the Command Centre Console was reading 13min 30sec remaining!

They really needed to get moving!


**GAME CLOCK - 13 minutes, 30 seconds remaining**

OOC:  Allowing for Dohr and Idaya's private chat, Dohr's briefing and Idaya's additions, three and a half minutes have passed.  You're all still standing in the command centre but you have had the opportunity to arm yourselves.

Don't forget you all have comms in your helmets so you can plan while you move.

Heigren's code number is four.  It was only recently assigned.

I broke the status list into teams and added everyones code number for clarity.  Let me know if I got anything wrong.

Kyvarr quickly checked her weapons and ensured her team was loaded and ready to go.  Time was ticking away and her team would be ready, she'd allow nothing less.

She saluted Idaya.  "Assault team 1 ready to move out on your order ma'am."

Fiarr was armed and ready.  Rather than rush over to Idaya and announce her readiness she sauntered over to Dohr.  She pointed at the trapdoor that led to the roof.

"You might want to send one of your team up there as a spotter.  For all we know the enemy is already approaching.  They could even be in the building by now!"

She then when and stood by Idaya, waiting for her instructions.

Flash slung the sniper rifle over his shoulder and held the E-11 in his hands.  The pistol and baton were in his belt.  Without waiting for instructions from Idaya he started out of the room and for the opposite stairwell to Devon.

"I could head up there and watch.  Leading battles or slicing computers isn't my strength.  Watching for people sneaking up on us is more up my alley."

"Complying."  CC9 has armed himself swiftly and is moving alongside the other members of his team as people hang about chatting.  The orders are given and the longer the organics flap their nutrient-holes the more time the enemy has to prepare themselves.

"Do you want a rifle on the roof?"  Sheila asked as she picked up a stun baton to go with her   So far all she knows is she's staying here on the 10 th floor, dohr is going down to the 2nd, and heigren is going for the roof.  And she will shoot anyone trying to get in the doors.

There wasn't really time for it now, but Kimy's idea could buy them enough time later to win the fight even if the enemy got on the 10th floor. Dohr nodded to young woman. "You have three minutes Ten, unless I need you on the first floor defending the stairwell earlier." Already on the way to the left stairs, the Kel Dor called out to the Zeltron. "Same goes for you, Twelve."

To Sheila Dohr pointed the right stairway. "First floor, Three, top of the stairs." He thought the orders had been clear, but there was so little time and so little to do in the noisy moment, that it was no wonder if everyone hadn't heard him. He had of course meant staying back inside the building, not the console room. The cane he usually relied on was in it's hanger on Dohr's back along with the E-11. With the sniper version of the rifle in his hands, the Kel Dorian limbed with surprising ease after one AT. On the way down, Dohr gave one more order. "Eyes open. Call out any movement and your locations!

If all went wrong, Dohr was happy this was only a game...



OOC: If Dohr reaches the second floor without anyone seeing or calling out members of the opposing group, he'll double time it to the windows facing the other building while staying crouched and in the shadows as much as possible. Dohr deliberately avoids the first couple of windows as the most obvious places unless it takes too long to find more. Once in place he'll search the windows of the enemy tower through the scope, looking for his counterparts.

Heigren nodded.  "I'll keep an open commlink.  Shout if you need.  I'll let you know if I see anything."

Without waiting for a reply, he rushed to the ladder, climbed up through the trapdoor onto the roof.  He kept low as he moved to the front, using any cover he could find.  His goal was to find a good vantage point of the other building and open ground without making himself an inviting target for snipers.

Sheila headed for the first floor stairs shed been sent to,   Internally, she was kicking herself, she should have thought of the computer herself, dammit, slicing was her specialty.

Assault Teams one and two quickly head down the two staircases, Sheila and Dohr following one team each.  While the two assault teams head down to the ground floor, Dohr and Sheila stop on the first floor and cautiously begin looking out the windows.  On the ground floor, Idaya peeks out the doors at the open ground.  The route is not encouraging.  While not brightly lit, there is still enough light to make out movement by.  Cover was minimal too.  She could see a wrecked speeder that could provide cover for 2-3 people about 70m off to the right and another about 160m to the left.  A barrel a single person could hide behind was about 40m dead ahead and another 155m to the right.  There was a pile of rubble wide enough for three to lie prone behind about 120m to the extreme right.  Other then that, the ground offered no cover.  There were some shadowy areas someone could blend in to but that was assuming the enemy was asleep as someone moved towards them.

The enemy building was reasonably well lit.  Idaya couldn't see some flickers in the opposing building, suggesting movement but little else.  There was no clear sign of the enemy anywhere, though it was possible they were already taking cover behind speeders or barrels.

Idaya looked around the team, they looked ready to go.  They just waited for their orders.

In the command room, Mika worked on the command console.

**GAME CLOCK - 13 minutes remaining**


OOC:  A quick pause for Idaya and Dohr to give any final orders/amendments before the teams move out into the open ground.  You can now clearly see what you face (well obstacle/cover wise anyway!)

At present Heigren is on the roof and Mika is in the command room level 10.  Dohr and Sheila are on Level 1 guarding a stairwell each and watching out the windows.  AT1 and AT2 are gathered in a large lobby area on the ground floor near the doors.

Remember, that you'll need to use comms now unless you're in proximity.  Currently the two AT's can talk but all members of DT will need to use comms.

Remember, two day max on posts people.  You don't post, we move without you.  In this case I didn't wait two days as everyone bar Mika had posted and I know what she's doing!

"Arrogant bastard!"  Flash growled.  He was on one knee, examining the enemy building through his sniper scope.  Seeing Idaya he pointed at the building.

"Some joker on the second floor over there.  Making no effort to hide himself.  Bastard had the nerve to wave at us.  If he stands still long enough I'll wipe that damn smirk off his face."

The Duros kept his sniper rifle trained on the second floor, panning from window to window.

As Assault 1 had hurried down the stairs and past the doorway that led into the first floor proper, Devon had skidded to a halt for a moment and hissed to CC9 and Kyvarr that he would catch them up in the lobby before ducking through the doorway and attacking a pile of junk, tossing stuff out the way hurridly to get at whatever had caught his eye.

Thuds, crashes and the occasional muffled swearword followed the remainder of Assault 1 down the stairs to the lobby, quickly followed by Devon himself.  The shipjacker had left his rifle hanging from shoulder by its sling and was using both hands to carry the one meter square duraplast wallpanel he'd liberated from a pile of rubble.

He grinned at Assault 1 round the edges of his prize.
"OK, so it wouldnt stop a REAL blasterbolt - you could put your fist through this with a little effort - but it should stop practice bolts just fine.  Figured maybe we could use it as a mobile shield."

Fiarr stood next to the doorway in cover and examined the dead ground she needed to cross.  She was bemused by the man walking window to window on the second floor in the other building.  Even without a scope she could see him walking around.  She noted how he never spent long enough in a window for anyone to make anything except a snap shot, a waste at this distance.  He was clearly there to taunt them.  To goad someone into giving their position away with a stray shot.  She ignored him and continued to plan her first dash, waiting for Idaya to give the order.

Heigren lay prone on the roof, using whatever cover he could.  He wished he had a pair of macrobinoculars, but he could still see the building fairly well.  After watching for a little while he switched on his comm.

"This is Four.  I've got movement on the fifth floor of the other building.  Can't see what they're doing but there's definitely someone there.  I think I also saw movement on the tenth but I can't be sure."

Seeing Devon grab a makeshift personnel shield as he headed past into the room, Dohr nodded to the human in appreciation. It was quick and solid thinking from Rian’s part. Using the building or parts of it to help them win the game had not bee prohibited, so in the doctor’s book it was ok. This was after all supposed to be a simulation of real combat and even if he preferred fighting honourably, it didn’t mean Dohr wanted to give the enemy the upper hand by his side acting like a bunch of boy scouts. They were on Nar Shaddaa, not in a Dorinian Armed Forces exercise.

A couple of seconds later he was at the window eyeing the opposite building through the scope… Waving? Yes. The person on the second floor of the enemy building had been waving to him or someone else from Dohr’s team. It was like an invitation to loose a shot at him and give out a sniper’s position. No, the doctor wasn’t going to fall for it. At this distance he’d have a hard time hitting the man? even with the help of the scope. No. He would let him have his fun. Dohr listened as the reports came in and then gave his. ”Two-Zero. Happy boy on the 2nd confirmed. Movement on floors three and five, one or two watchers each.”

"Marksmen, give them something else to do than keeping an eye on us. One or two shots per position, then move in to a new one, so you can not be pinpointed. And that shield has to go - in a real battle I would not mind, but this is supposed to be an honest game. And keep out of lit rooms, so you do not make yourselves targets of opportunity." The Chiss sounded like a stern, no-nonsense commander over the comms.
