Player Information

Character Creation Rules:

1.) At the campaign’s start, PCs enter play at 1st level with 0 XPs.

2.) PCs start with the following ability scores: 16, 14, 14, 12, 12, 10.  Players can assign them as they like.  Scores are then adjusted for race.

2b.) Alternatively; you could use the dice roller.

3.) Races/Classes allowed: As per the 3.5 Player's Handbook.

4.) Alignments allowed: Any.

5.) Staring money (to purchase equipment):  PCs start with the average amount listed on page 111 of the Player's Handbook.  Consider equipment listed in the Player's Handbook as being available to your PC when you are creating him or her.

6.) The PC Sheet:  Work on your character as you like, but submit him/her on the cut-and-paste PC Sheet for approval.  Make sure to fill in all areas required for your PC.  Also make sure to fill in descriptive/background information areas as well.

Characters of all types will be needed to help ensure party survival, and a variety of skills will be needed.

Action Points

Please read the following excert from Swashbuckling 101: Combat By Keith Baker. Use it as a guideline for using action points in this game.

Action Points

As mentioned earlier, action points are a tool for enhancing combat, allowing anyone to make that critical shot or check when it really, really matters. Action points are also a way to draw the players into storytelling. The DM should always require players to justify their use of action points by describing the enhanced action in detail. Consider the player who 99% of the time just declares, "I attack the monster and roll an 18." If he wants to use an action point to enhance the roll, the DM is perfectly justified to demand a more colorful description. What makes this action so spectacular? Does the character distract his foe with a cunning move? Does he score a hit through dumb luck? Does he shift position so the sun is in his enemy's eyes? If the DM wants to hold the game to a high standard, she could rule that unless the player comes up with a good story, the action point can't be used at all!

The swashbuckling tone of Eberron is in your hands as both a player or DM. Action points are one tool to play with, but they're only a starting point. Add as much color as you want to your combat -- it's impossible to overdo it. The only rule that matters is: have fun!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

A few brief words are necessary to insure that the reader has actually obtained a game form which he or she desires. Of the two approaches to hobby games today, one is best defined as the realism-simulation school and the other as the game school. AD&D is assuredly an adherent of the latter school. It does not stress any realism (in the author's opinion an absurd effort at best considering the topic!). It does little to attempt to simulate anything either. Advanced Dungeons & Dragons is first and foremost a game for the fun and enjoyment of those who seek to use imagination and creativity. This is not to say that where it does not interfere with the flow of the game that the highest degree of realism hasn't been attempted, but neither is a serious approach to play discouraged. In all cases, however, the reader should understand that AD&D is designed to be an amusing and diverting pastime, something which can fill a few hours or consume endless days, as the participants desire, but in no case something to be taken too seriously. For fun, excitement, and captivating fantasty, AD&D is unsurpassed. As a realistic simulation of things from the realm of make-believe, or even as a reflection of medieval or ancient warfare or culture or society, it can be deemed only a dismal failure. Readers who seek the latter must search elsewhere. Those who desire to create and populate imaginary worlds with larger-than-life heroes and villains, who seek relaxation with a fascinating game, and who generally believe games should be fun, not work, will hopefully find this system to their taste.

Re: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Dawg that will become confusing. How will we know what are thoughts, for the psychics, spells or abilities different from speech.

Re: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

I thought we would just read what they typed so as tonote the difference. Thoughts should also be in Italics, so that will help.

Post all rolls, spells and psionics used as a Private Line/Message to me. Everyone one else will only see the description of your actions.

The different colored text will give the game a nice feel.lets try it and see what works.
