Day Fifteen (Flamerule 11, 1373DR)
  • The Guardians arrive in Iriaebor and immediately head to the temple of Kossuth where they meet with Vilthanus and Eternal Flame Kraakis.
  • Vilthanus is moved by the Guardians' testimonies to Serol's piety and finally deems Serol worthy of his position in the church.
  • Serol's spirit is summoned by the Eternal Flame to answer whether he wishes to return and aid the Guardians or not.  He does.
  • Kraakis agrees to resurrect Serol and tasks the Guardians with obtaining the required 25,000gp in diamonds.
  • The Guardians seek out Farrah Half-Orcan at the Talking Ox Tavern just outside the city gates.
  • Peter and Bran speak with a wealthy merchant Irlon who promises to provide the diamonds if the Guardians provide the gold.
  • Antoine engages a street thug in conversation who offers to lure Farrah out by staging an attack on a caravan.
  • Antoine declines but follows the thug to his hideout, a thieves guild of some sort.
  • Antoine is captured but earns a meeting with the guildmaster only to press her luck too far and come under attack.
  • Dorn engages in a duel with a street duelist and wins.
  • Peter, Ramor and Dorn seek out a bloodsport fight to earn enough money to have Serol ressurected.
  • They prevail against a quite formidable werehawk monk kiling her in the process, in effect trading her life for Serol's.

Day Sixteen (Flamerule 10, 1373DR)
  • The Guardians depart Rosewood bearing Serol's body on the horses and wagon provided by Kendra.
  • The entire town of Rosewood turn out to honor Serol's sacrifice.
  • The Guardians encounter no problems on the road but can't shake the feeling they are being watched.

Day Fifteen (Flamerule 9, 1373DR)
  • The Guardians awoke and travelled to the recently revealed waterfall cave.
  • With the aid of Serol and Ramor's magic the flow of water from above was stopped.
  • The Guardians' descended through the 'drain' and found themselves in the Firehammer Waterworks.
  • Just as outside and above, several slain gnolls littered the room.
  • The Guardians travelled to the residential ward where Dorn had encountered the gnolls during his first visit and found scores of gnolls slain.
  • The Guardians' belief that the adventurerers from the Red Rose Inn were responsible was confirmed when they found those adventurerers themselves slain in a great chamber leading to the defense ward.
  • As the last of the Guardians entered that chamber the doors were sealed and exact replicas appeared at the far end of the room intent on slaying the Guardians.  The Firehammer Ward of Weakening had been triggered for the second time in as many days.
  • An epic battle ensued with each of the Guardians facing their own strengths and own weaknesses.  Through their duplicates they learned more about themselves, a fact not lost on the scholarly Peter.  For Antoine she discovered her true power lie in her gifted strength but until her savage instincts were overcome she was doomed to failure.  Ramor discoverd that his arrogance created many unnecessary problems.  Had his double not been so arrogant as to think his spells all-powerful the duplicates surely would have won handily.  Peter had watched his double act decisively and, due to his studious nature, effectively.  No longer would Peter need to remain in the background, he was capable of things far greater than the reading of books.  Dorn watched his double employ tactics that neutralized the Guardians' most potent weapon to date, Serol's chain.  And as for Serol, he was taught one final time that he who lives within the fire, dies within the fire.  As potent as his forces of fire were, they were equally destructive to him.  Fire restores and fire destroys.
  • After the battle the group encounters Kendra who forces the Guardians to endure the outermost Firehammer ward, the Ward of Purity.  The darkness that had clouded Antoine's heart is burned away leaving regrets and sorrow in its place.
  • Kendra, forced by the dire situation facing the Western Heartlands, reveals herself as a Harper and the other fallen adventurers as Harpers as well.  Together they are working to stop Fulgar's Five.
  • Kendra lays out Fulgar's plan to unleash the undead dragon as his servant, laying claim to the substantial treasure hoard in the process, and enlists the Guardians' aid in stopping him.  She believes Fulgar will free the dragon in four days' time.
  • The Guardians bear Serol's body back to Rosewood where Dawnbringer Tristan preserves the body for a planned trip to Iriaebor to have Serol raised.
  • Ramor sends word to Vilthanus that Serol is dead.
  • Peter researches the history of Rosewood uncovering many missing pieces to the puzzle of what intrigue the Guardians have been pulled into.
  • Antoine returns the diamond-encrusted circlet to Jaerod who immediately assumes she was the thief based on his knowledge of her affliction.
  • The Guardians decide to delay their departure to Iriaebor until the morning.

Day Fourteen (Flamerule 8, 1373DR)
  • The Guardians awoke after a restful night and journeyed into the cave.
  • The Guardians reached a seeming dead end in a large cavern with an incredibly high ceiling and waterfall falling directly through the middle of the space.  Six more slain gnolls were encountered in the cavern as well.
  • With seemingly no exit from the cavern, Dorn braved the icy cold waters of the pool to search for a path.  He did find a rope system below the water's surface which seemed to lead on into the caves but nearly drowned in his search.
  • Not wishing to progress underwater, the group returned to the warded entrance where both Serol and Ramor would use their spellcasting power to try and disable to the magicks around the cave entrance.  Neither of them succeeded.
  • The group decided to rest out the day so by the next morning, Serol and Ramor would regain their most potent spellcasting ability.  With their new powers, they would attempt to shape the rock around the waterfall to stem it's flow, hopefully revealing the passage to allow the guardians to progress without the fear of drowning.  Whilst they waited out the day, the guardians were attacked by and defeated a Chimera.  Though the creature was despatched fairly quickly, it proved that the area was dangerous.
  • That evening a swarm of winged heads attacked the Guardians' camp and were defeated.

Day Thirteen (Flamerule 7, 1373DR)
  • Serol encounters a rust monster that had broken into the Firehammer Smithy at the northern edge of town and defeats it.
  • Goldy's shop is nearly empty, his life's work destroyed in one evening
  • Jaerod stumbles into the Red Rose Inn drunk and proceeds to make a scene, nearly revealing Antoine's secret in the process.
  • Mayor Hawthorne arrives and dispatches William to take Jaerod home.
  • The Mayor succumbs to a bout of narcolepsy but is awoken by Dorn and Ramor who make further inquiries about his condition.
  • Hawth reveals that with each bout of his narcolepsy he experiences the same dream.
  • The dream consists of Hawth's ancestor stalking and battling a black-robed spellcaster who commanded undead and eventually defeating him in battle and that same spellcaster battling and entrapping an ancient white wyrm.
  • Peter comes clean to Antoine about trying to remove the evil from her heart without removing her 'gift' using the circelt that was intended for Jaerod's afflicted lost love but the admission is not well received.
  • Putting the flap behind them the Guardians strike out for the entrance Firehammer clanhome.
  • The Guardians arrive without incident and after several attempts only Peter is able to fool the ward and pass through with Dorn.
  • Giving up the Guardians go in search of the gnolls.
  • They find what appears to be a natural collapse of the rocky mountainside which reveals an opening to a natural cave.
  • Several dead gnolls litter the area along with signs that a band of adventurers had dealt them their deaths.
  • The Guardians decide to rest for the evening before heading into the cave.

Day Twelve (Flamerule 6, 1373DR)
  • Serol and Ramor walk to the north of Rosewood for morning prayers to Kossuth after which Serol cures Ramor's blindness.
  • Serol inquires about purchasing a potter's property and is angrily rebuffed.
  • The Guardians suffer through a boring day at the Red Rose Inn.
  • Ramor repays Serol for his restored sight by identifying various magical items for the Guardians, all made possible through the purchase of pearls from a fellow adventurer who has designs on bagging a dragon in the area.
  • Mayor Hawthorne thanks the Guardians for their efforts and gives Serol a list bearing names of those with property to sell.
  • The evening ends with the Guardians making some purchases from Horrace.
  • Serol strikes a deal with Horrace for the hin to locate and purchase some property for him.

Day Eleven (Flamerule 5, 1373DR)
  • After an early breakfast, Dorn, Peter and Serol meet Antoine on the road outside of Rosewood and recommence their search for the giant.
  • The giant is located in a deep ravine and appears to be searching for something
  • Antoine announces the Guardians' presence and Peter engages the giant in a brief conversation which yields the fact that the giant is looking for the 'south wind'.
  • Moments later a gnome emerges from some brush and introduces himself as Aethyrin Southwind.
  • The giant hastily attacks the gnome and the Guardians rush to Aethyrin's defense.
  • After considerable effort the giant is slain and Aethyrin accompanies the Guardians back to Rosewood.
  • The Calishite mage Ramor ibn Adnan arrives in Iriaebor at the behest of Egam in Berdusk who owes Vilthanus a favor, a favor which Ramor is to repay before he can purchase a magical item of great interest from Egam.
  • Vilthanus tests Ramor's piety by requiring him to burn himself with a magical fire.
  • Convinced of Ramor's purity Vilthanus dispatches Ramor to Rosewood to document Serol Kinspar's impurity.
  • Ramor departs Iriaebor alone and makes camp where he awakens to find a nymph observing him.  Startled, the nymph strikes Ramor blind.
  • Jintanna, the nymph, is concerned about the growing influence of Kossuth in the area and offers to aid Ramor when Ramor's quest to prosecute a priest of Kossuth is revealed.
  • A pegasus, Paragon, flies Ramor to Rosewood despite his blindness.
  • Ramor meets the Guardians, including Serol Kinspar, and Aethyrin at the Red Rose Inn.

Day Ten (Flamerule 4, 1373DR)
  • As Darwin was yet to re-appear, Peter convinced Antoine and Dorn that they should perhaps begin looking for him at his last known location, Fulgar's encampment.  As the three were about to leave Rosewood, they met Serol who had just arrived back in town.
  • Arriving at Fulgar's encampment, the four guardians discovered instead of the partially built wall around a campsite, a large fortress of stone.  Approaching the fortress walls caused a stone staircase to appear on the outside of the building which led to an open doorway some fifty feet from the ground.
  • Upon entering the fortress, the four guardians were met by Eloranth and Willow.  When asked the whereabouts of the fifth guardian, Darwin, Eloranth replied that the young mage had taken an apprenticeship with her and that he would no longer be counted amongst the Guardians of Rosewood.
  • Willow revealed that immediately after being accepted as a guardian of Rosewood, Sterdorf was "wrong" for the role and subsequently dismissed.  He has not been seen by Fulgar's Five since.
  • Fulgar instructed the guardians to investigate complaints from Rosewood that a giant is in the area with plans to attack the town.
  • As the guardians journeyed to find the giant, they stumbled across the lair of a giant spider.  During the short fight, Antoine transformed into a half-(wo)man-half-wolf before the guardians' eyes, thereby announcing her recent affliction in no uncertain terms.  During the ensuing heated discussion about Antoine's condition, Peter admitted to murdering someone when not in control of his own actions.  Fortunately for Peter, Antoine's "issue" seemed more pressing to the guardians to discuss and it was brushed aside.
  • As the day drew on, the guardians decided to rest-up at the Red Rose Inn before continuing their search for the giant.  All except Antoine that is who could not transform back into human form and so instead, she spent the night under canvas.

Day Eight (Flamerule 2, 1373DR)
  • Antoine returned to town and after a brief stop at Horrace's, went back to the Red Rose Inn for some much needed rest and recouperation.  She soon bumped into Jaerod who expressed concern at Antoine's absence from the hunt.  Away from the ears and eyes of the tavern's patrons, Jaerod expressed concern for Antoine and he appeared to know about her condition.  Jaerod did explain that he lost a woman he loved to "the curse" and pleaded with Antoine to seek help for the afflication.  In a moment of intense confusion, Antoine raced away from Jaerod and headed northwards to seek answers and guidance from a wiser source (in Antoine's mind, Fulgar's Five).
  • Not long after taking the road north, Antoine soon came across the form of the druid, Willow.  The two spoke at length with the outcome that Willow suggested to Antoine that if she could defeat a wyrmling that lived nearby using her new form, then none could doubt her new abilities to be a true boon for Rosewoods' Guardians.
  • At the suggestion of Willow, the hybrid form of Antoine entered the dragon's lair and defeated the creature contained within.  Antoine then returned to Rosewoood with a small amount of treasure but more importantly, gaining confidence that her new abilities would do her well in the future.
  • Later that day, Antoine and Peter met in the Red Rose Inn as the guardians began to reconvene.

Day Seven (Flamerule 1, 1373DR)
  • Antoine spent the night curled up in wolf form, hiding from the inevitable presence of the hunters and fortunately for her, she escaped detection.  As there was still one more night of the full-moon during the current lunar cycle, Antoine decided to remain out of town for another day and spend the time revelling and getting used to her new form.

Day Six (Kythorn 30, 1373DR)
  • Late in the day, Antoine regained consciousness only to find herself almost drowning in a river.  Crawling to the bank, she realised that she had been quite badly beaten, however had survived the encounter although surely it was only because Canus did not wish to kill her that she still lived.
  • As the injured and confused Antoine began the slow and painful walk back to town, she was set upon by a small orc gang.  The ambush soon became a frenzy of bloodlust however as unbeknownst to all, Antoine's form shifted from that of a comely young woman to that of a athletic yet powerful wolf.  Together with a black shape darting swiftly through the undergrowth, the orcs were quickly and visciously slain by Antoine and the mysterious companion.  After the melee was over, Antoine turned to face the other wolf figure who revealed himself to be Dirk.  He told her to return to the humans but expect to find them inferior to Antoine now that she had been 'cursed'.  He also told her that when she was ready to leave them, Antoine should return to the pack to claim her place.

Day Five (Kythorn 29, 1373DR)
  • Antoine, suffering from a "conscience", decides to leave town a day before the hunt to seek out the intended prey.  She takes it upon herself to try and reason with both parties to seek an end to hostilities.
  • Less than half-a-day on foot south of Rosewood, Antoine meets a stranger in the wild lands who warns her away from the area citing great danger.  After a brief conversation, the stranger reveals his name as Dirk and despite his warnings to the rogue, he agrees to lead her to the lycan 'home'.
  • True to his word, Dirk leads Antoine to the werewolf encampment where she is introduced to the pack leader, a savage brute named Canus.  Antoine began to converse with Canus and told him about the townsfolk's intention to hunt the werewolves.  She asked Canus if there was a way that peace could be negotiated.  Canus however was too feral in his nature to listen to the likes of Antoine.  Explaining that he used the human hunt to bolster his pack with females, he quickly lept onto the unsuspecting Antoine and dug his razor-sharp claws into the rogue's skin.  Antoine lapsed into unconsciousness.

Day Four (8th Day of the 3rd Ride, Kythorn 1373DR)
  • A cleric of Lathander awakens the Guardians in their rooms at the Red Rose Inn and requests that they accompany him to the Temple.
  • Dawnbringer Tristan relays a vision she had of an undead horde walking the streets of Rosewood and asks the Guardians to investigate.
  • The Guardians postpone their investigation of the imprisoned dragon within the mountain.
  • Herman, a cleric of Lathander, is sent with the Guardians to aid them against the undead threat.
  • Horrace presents Serol with a written message from the priest's temple in Iriaebor.
  • Antoine and Serol happen across Kendra outside the store and relay the news of the dragon imprisoned within the Firehammer Ruins.
  • Kendra was visibly alarmed and asked them to reveal that fact to nobody, including the rest of the Five.
  • Antoine learned that the subject of the hunt were Lycanthropes.
  • Bud, the new owner of the apple orchard east of Rosewood, complains about the high price of his insecticide.
  • Bud's wife Camille seems very anxious for the guardians to spend some time with them, Bud is not so eager.
  • Declining Bud and Camille's offer of lunch, the guardians unsuccessfully search east of the Orchard for any signs of undead.
  • Upon nearing Bud's orchard again, the guardians spy a rider in the distance heading towards the orchard.  By the time the group reach the cabin, there is no sign of the rider and Bud is clearly uncomfortable at his wife's dinner invitation to the guardians.
  • Bud claims the rider was an unhappy gambler from the night before.
  • After a plea for help from Camille, Bud was forced to confess that they are linked with both the undead threat AND people going missing from Rosewood.  A couple, who said they were on the run from bounty hunters, rented space in the farmer's root cellar.  As time wore on and Bud and his wife needed money desparately to help with the spiralling orchards' running costs, they approached the runaways about rent.  They agreed to increase their payments but only if Bud and Camille sent unwary travellers down to see them and then asked no questions.  Bud and Camille reluctantly agreed to the dark demands and working as a team, duped unsuspecting patrons at the Red Rose Inn.  Camille would ply the target's drink with drugs whilst Bud would gamble with the strangers and take their money.  The next morning, the fleeced target would come to the orchard looking for Bud to claim he cheated them, only to end up in the company of the dark couple.
  • On hearing the sinister tale from Bud and Camille, the guardians immediately investigated the root cellar and it's dark secrets.
  • Passing through an area of magical darkness and silence within the root cellar, the group stumbled upon the evil couple and their small band of zombies which they had created.  The missing K'torri was one of those who had suffered and now stared at the Guardians through corpse-like eyes.
  • A short but intense battle with the couple ensued and whilst the guardians health took it's toll, they endured and the evil pair fled the scene by what appeared to be some sort of teleportation method.  Further investigation noted that the cellar contained a portal of some descript which the cultists used to escape.
  • Upon leaving the cellar, the guardians found that Bud had been unable to cope with his wrongdoings and put himself to his sword.  After the Guardians had barricaded the root cellar, Serol built a funeral pyre for the small undead army before the group accompanied Bud's grieving widow back to Rosewood.
  • Upon arriving back at Rosewood, the group were greeted by Dawnbringer Tristan.  After listening to the events as they were told by Serol, Tristan decided that Camille should spend the night at the temple before being taken to Mayor Hawthorne the following morning for judgement.
  • Herman, the young priest who assisted the Guardians with the undead troubles, decided to resign his position within the church citing his unworthyness to Lathander as his reason.
  • Dawnbringer Tristan is to arrange an investigation into the mysterious portal within Bud and Camille's root cellar and has asked Peter to assist her.
  • The group returned to the Red Rose Inn to discuss private matters in their room but before they could begin, Kendra, one of Fulgar's Five, was already there to greet them.  She spoke of the fact that she had been to the dwarven mines just north of Fulgar's Camp and noted that most of the wards there are still intact.  Despite this however, she espied a dwarf heading to and fro the old mines, collecting various dwarven trinkets, before heading off with his pony south-east via an unmarked trail.  She did not follow him to his destination but offered to accompany the Guardians to the mines to show them what she witnessed.
  • Serol has discovered that the group of adventurers who looked like they would be heading up to the dwarven mines on a dangerous treasure hunt have been delayed in Rosewood for at least a week.
  • Kendra revealed that only dwarven kin may successfully pass by the protective wards in the mine.
  • Serol informs the other guardians that he has business to attend to in Iriaebor and will be gone for at least three days.
  • Dorn will also be leaving the other guardians for a while to investigate the goings-on at the Firehammer mine.
  • Of the others, Antoine will remain in town as she has been invited to a ritual hunt, Peter has been asked by the Temple of Lathander to assist in the investigation of the portal discovered in Bud and Camille's root cellar, whilst Darwin will spend the time to indulge in arcane study.

Day Three (7th Day of the 3rd Ride, Kythorn 1373DR)
  • Eloranth aids Darwin in unlocking the mysteries of the recovered loot and presents the young mage with a challenge and promises of great power.
  • The Guardians return to Rosewood to complete various errands.
  • The Guardians meet Mayor Hawthorne who suffers from narcolepsy, apparently brought on by the business end of an ogre's club many long years ago.  Longtime friend William acts as Hawthorne's right hand man in town affairs.
  • Serol visits the temple of Lathander and meets Dawnbringer Tristan while the others travel to the smithy and meet the town's only dwarven resident, Goldy Firehammer.
  • Goldy relays the tale of the Firehammer clan to Dorn.
  • Several of the Guardians meet a greedy and nosy hin named Horrace who runs the town's general store.
  • Antoine meets the mayor's son Jaerod who immediately falls for the beautiful foreigner.  Jaerod asks Antoine to accompany he and his father on a traditional hunt to take place in three days.
  • Serol identifies a symbol on Grintak's map east of Rosewood as being the holy symbol of Velsharoon.
  • Sterdorf has yet to surface.
  • Serol discovers that Mayor Hawthorne has visited the temple but despite priestly aid, his narcolepsy remains uncured.  Foul play is suspected.
  • Antoine espies a small group of adventurers in the Red Rose Inn who are pouring over a map in secret.  Throughout the hushed conversation, Antoine could only make out the word "dragon".
  • Dorn learned from Goldy that the Firehammer Clan discovered a dragon's lair deep in the mines near Rosewood.  The dragon was kept at bay by magical means and despite the creatures' best efforts to pursuade the dwarves into releasing it, they instead added their own dwarven runes to reinforce the prison.
  • One of the dwarven runestones used to help keep the dragon from escaping was found at the goblin encampment yesterday and is currently in the possession of Dorn.
  • The guardians fear that the group of adventurers who were earlier seen studying a map will inadvertantly release the dragon.
  • The guardians decide that tomorrow, they will investigate the dwarven mines and attempt to restore the protection provided by the dwarven runes.  They also plan to stop-by Fulgar's encampment on the way to inform their employers of the task at hand perhaps obtain some wisdom in this matter.  They spend the night at the Red Rose Inn.

Day Two (6th Day of the 3rd Ride, Kythorn 1373DR)
  • The Guardians awake to find Sterdorf missing.
  • Willow dispatches the group to destroy a band of goblins at the request of Rosewood's mayor.  The group is to return with the head of the band's leader.
  • The group retraces their path to the site of Amarant's ambush and turn the tables on the goblin ambushers.  Amarant's body is nowhere to be found.
  • Dorn follows the goblins' tracks back to their camp where a bloody battle ensues with the rest of the band of goblins led by Grintak 'The Dwarven Destroyer'.
  • Darwin is nearly killed by the goblins in the battle.
  • Grintak is slain and a substantial amount of loot is found within his tent including several enchanted items and a crude map of the area.
  • The Guardians return to Fulgar, who is impressed by their quick victory and find the beginnings of a magicaly constructed wall of stone that will seal off the encampment.
  • K'torri, claiming foul play, seeks out the men he gambled with the night before.  He has not been seen since.
  • Sterdorf has not surfaced.

Day One (5th Day of the 3rd Ride, Kythorn 1373DR)
  • Eight strangers arrive in the Western Heartland town of Rosewood in repsonse to a posting requesting young intrepid adventurers to serve as guardians of the town under the direction of a group called Fulgar's Five.
  • One of the eight by the name of Amarant, a withdrawn monk, leaves for Fulgar's camp north of town alone despite warnings of dangers in the wilderness.
  • The other seven leave town in small groups in search of Fulgar's Five.
  • One of those groups stumbles across the body of the monk who had been slain by archers in an apparent ambush.
  • The seven arrive at Fulgar's camp and meet four of Fulgar's Five; a mighty warrior Fulgar, a charming wizard Eloranth, a beautiful druid Willow, and a mysterious Kendra.  They are told the fifth is revealed to nobody who lives to tell.

  • Antoine and Serol told Kendra about the issue around the dragon and the dwarven mines.  Kendra's reponse was surprising in that she warned Antoine and Serol that under no circumstances should the information be divulged to any other, not even Fulgar.
  • Later the same day, the group returned to the Red Rose Inn to discuss private matters in their room but before they could begin, Kendra, one of Fulgar's Five, was already there to greet them.  She spoke of the fact that she had been to the dwarven mines just north of Fulgar's Camp and noted that most of the wards there are still intact.  Despite this however, she espied a dwarf heading to and from the old mines, collecting various dwarven trinkets, before heading off with his pony south-east via an unmarked trail.
  • Dorn leaves the other guardians for a while to investigate the goings-on at the Firehammer clanhome and findsd no sign of the dragon but does discover gnolls in the ruins.

Rise of the Dead
Completed
  • Serol visits the temple of Lathander in Rosewood and meets Dawnbringer Tristan.
  • Serol identifies a symbol on Grintak's map east of Rosewood as being the holy symbol of Velsharoon.
  • The guardians are woken early by a knock at their door.  A messenger from the Temple of Lathander is there who states to Serol that Dawnbringer Tristan wishes to see him urgently.
  • The Dawnbringer informs the guardians that during morning prayer, he had a disturbing vision granted to him which showed undead walking the streets of Rosewood.
  • After a brief discussion, the guardians agree that this is a more pressing matter than any potential dragon release and requires immediate investigation.
  • The guardians agree to Dawnbringer Tristan's suggestion that they take a young but able acolyte named Herman with them, as he is learned in dealing with the undead.
  • Bud, the new owner of the apple orchard east of Rosewood complains about the high price of his insecticide.
  • Bud's wife Camille seems very anxious for the guardians to spend some time with them, Bud is not so eager.
  • Declining Bud and Camille's offer of lunch, the guardians with Herman in tow begin a random search of the area east of the orchard.  This proves fruitless however and they are forced to head back west before nightfall.
  • Upon nearing Bud's orchard again, the guardians spy a rider in the distance heading towards the orchard.  By the time the group reach the cabin, there is no sign of the rider and Bud is clearly uncomfortable at his wife's dinner invitation to the guardians.
  • Upon leaving the cellar, the guardians found that Bud had been unable to cope with his wrongdoings and put himself to his sword.  After the Guardians had barracaded the root cellar, Serol built a funeral pyre for the small undead army before the group accompanied Bud's grieving widow back to Rosewood.
  • Peter and Herman set out to uncover the mystery of the portal's existence.
  • Using one of Peter's scrolls the pair detect the presence of strong magic beneath the cabin.
  • The source of the magical aura was found to be magical rod buried within a chest beneath not only the cabin's floor, but another far older floor of a previous structure beneath the cabin.
  • The rod proved to be an immensely powerful artifact later identified as Ilthanis' Scepter.
  • The rod posessed Peter forcing him to kill Herman whispering 'Death to all' throughout.
  • Finally breaking free of the rod's compulsion Peter retreated to Rosewood to enlist the aid of Dawnbringer Tristan.
  • Tristan accepted Ilthanis' Rod for safekeeping and enlisted Eloranth's help in destroying the portal before further damage could be done.
  • Eloranth went alone to destroy the portal and returned claiming to have destroyed it once and for all.

Peter Aubary - Ilthanis' Scepter
Completed
  • Dawnbringer Tristan asked Peter to aid the House of Lathander in an investigation of the Velsharoon portal at Bud and Camille root cellar.
  • The following morning Peter entered the church hide from the stormy weather and prepare from the task ahead. After much study he was reunited with Herman and the pair headed out to Bud and Camilleís orchard.
  • The rain had ceased by the time they journeyed to the orchard and the two made plans as they travelled. They discussed many possibilities and seemed set on reckless path of discovery, determined to solve the riddle of the portal and to pass through its gate.
  • After a search of the root cellar and recording of their findings the pair returned to the cabin before nightfall to question the evidence they had seen.
  • They concluded that the something as powerful as the magic portal would have left evidence of its manufacture and use far wider than just the cellar and a further investigation was initiated.
  • Through the use of magic a necromantic presence was discovered beneath the cabin. Late into the night and early the next day the pair laboured to unearth what turned out to be an old iron chest. Confounded by both the heavy chest and its many traps they eventually through both luck and judgement opened it.
  • Its contents two black velvet robes, a holy symbol of Velsharoon, a rod of adamantine, a wooden flute, and a book. Peterís curiosity aflame he began to read the book regardless of the damage he caused it. A sketchbook, prayerbook, studybook and journal the book confirmed that the purpose of the portal was definitely connected with Velsharoon and of an undeterminable age.
  • Rashly Peter took the gruesome rod to examine further where it dispossessed the young man of any control of his own body. Unable to do anything but watch in mute horror the scholar struck down his companion Herman beating him until the floor was covered in a pool of his blood.
  • Distraught Peter fought a battle of wills with the accursed rod before he managed to drop it weakly to the floor.
  • Grieve stricken the guilty feeling Peter attempted to revive the now dead Herman before he had to make the difficult decision of what to do next.
  • In despair the young man rationalized the only course of action was to confess to the Dawnbringer Tristan his actions and to pass the offending rod into her care. On his journey back to Rosewood he was accosted by two bandits. Not willing to fail twice in one day and let the rod into evil hands Peter fought the pair and was victorious after a hard fought contest.
  • Finally the scholar reached the House of Lathander and confessed all to the Dawnbringer Tristan. The Dawnbringer Tristanoffered the young man sanctuary in the church though whether he was a guest or prisoner was in question.
  • Haunted by his memory of the rod Peter was aided by the philosophy of Lathander, one of optimism and perseverance. After three days of study and reflection Tristan explained that it would be safe for him to leave at his own leisure.
  • Quick to depart Peter thanked Tristan and went in search for any of the other Guardians keen to avoid any unwanted questions from the townspeople.
  • Tristan enlisted Elornath's help to destroy the portal before further evil could become of it.
  • Eloranth obliged and went to destroy the portal herself.  She sent word to Tristan that she had been successful.
  • Tristan has yet to discover a way to destroy Ilthanis' Scepter and keeps it under her protection in secrecy.

Serol Kinspar - Terraces of Fire
Completed
  • Serol Kinspar recieved a letter from the Eternal Flame in Iriaebor to return to the temple there before the end of the Ride.
  • After their victory over the forces of Velsharoon, Serol made his preperations to leave.  Early the next morning, he departed the Redrose Inn usherd to the city by downpouring rain.
  • Upon the way Serol met a merchant by the name of Gulliver Waterbane.  The man claimed he was in possession of wares to deal with all sorts of "water problems".  He also made mention of a Water Elemental that now plagued Iriaebor.  However his prices were too high for the young priest to part with money he intended for donation at the temple.
  • The rest of the journey upon the road was wet, but uneventful.  Serol made camp off the road knowing he could not make it to the city in a single day's ride.  When he awoke however he found his faithful horse Vael had been stolen.
  • Serol spent most of the early morning in a vein attempt in tracking down his horse and the thief aided by the magic of Kossuth.  However, he simply lacked the ability to follow the trail and decided he could spend no more time on the search.
  • Picking up his equipment he walked the rest of the way to Iriaebor.  When he reached the temple of Kossuth, he was wracked in pain and welcomed the bed given him.  He had failed to reach the temple before midnight, the last day of the ride.
  • In the morning, Serol was able to speak with the Eternal Flame.  He was told that for his failure, he would not be granted the Oath of Firewalking as the original note had promised.  However, when he was able to give the Eternal Flame his full report, including his victories in Rosewood and the theft of his horse, he was permitted to advance.  He was given two thousand platinum  pieces and told he would be granted the honor to take the Oath of Firewalking again, should he prove to the temple himself worthy by dispatching the elemental that plagued Iriaebor's waterways.
  • Serol left the temple in search of a new mount.  However, he instead stopped by a less reputable horse dealer in hopes that he could locate Vael instead.  He was successful in this.  His horse had been stolen and the Horse dealer wished to make a quite sale keeping the animal well hidden for a few days.  Serol wished to end things peacfully, but kenw that he would require the use of the horse in the morning.  He attempted to negotiate this and failed.  He then tried to charm the man, with use of his magic and also failed.  Thus making himself a target of the Thieves Guild in Iriaebor.
  • Serol was able to find himself a new horse, and barding then returned to the temple.  The Eternal Flame had given him a book on elementals that he suspected would tell him much about his upcoming battle.
  • In the morning, after prayers Serol received his instructions from a cleric by the name of Tendril Vilthanus, a cleric of high standing who had no love for Serol.  He had to litterally run to make his passage upon the ship he had been ordered to escort.
  • Having made it succesfully to the docks, the cleric took up a possition at the bow watching for the signs of the elemental.  He encountered not one water elemental but four.  Serol quickly went about dispatching them.  However, they were not alone.  A cleric of Istishia, the water god, and hated rival of Kossuth, also awaited Serol.  The battle was quick but brutal finding Serol victorious, but having faced several near chances of finding himself dumped into the river wearing full armor.
  • Victorious the Kossutian made his way back to the temple.  He took the time to heal his own wounds before making a report to the Eternal Flame.  Upon hearing the news, Eternal Flame Kraakis gathered the faithful of the temple.  Serol would again be taking the Oath of Firewalking this time administered by the hand of Tendril Vilthanus.
  • After removing his armor and equipment Serol stood wrapped in his own spiked chain to face the test of Tendril Vilthanus.  The Tendril then unleashed a fury of Holy Fire upon the defensless Serol Kinspar, who was burned nearly to death.
  • Even as Serol risked dying from his wounds, another strange flame leapt into being upon the cleric's chared body.  Unlike the one unleashed by Tendril Vilthanus, however, this one came from within Serol and healed his wounds giving him enough strength to stand.
  • Serol was then recognized by the faithful as a Burning Brazier of the Third Terrace.  He was told his weapon, which had also suffered the same blast of Holy Flame was purrified and strengthened like Serol himself.  However, to this point he does not know the extent of this fact.
  • After suffering a near death experience, the Brazier healed his wounds as best he could with the power left in him from that morning's prayers and returned to his room after a short discussion with the Eternal Flame.  He discovered, however, his bedroom was not empty.
  • A beautiful young woman named Sarah threw herself upon the flames of his lust seeking only his favor so she claimed.  Serol resisted initially telling the woman that his power was a gift of Kossuth and it was the Flamelord who should have her divotion.  He found out that the young woman was indeed one of the faithful and continued to seduce the young cleric.  Finally he gave into his passion and bed the young woman.
  • He then spent the rest of the afternoon buying new equipment and healing potions for his continued journey.  He inteneded to leave for Rosewood in the morning.  The evening was uneventful, as was his ride back to Rosewood where he met three of his fellow guardians on their way to Fulgar's camp.

  • Kendra offers to aid Dorn in his planned investigation but Dorn instead chooses Goldy to accompany him.
  • Goldy and Dorn arrive at the abandoned Firehammer clanhome and find a horse loaded with semi-valuable goods.
  • The dwarves enter the ruins and Goldy instructs Dorn not to touch the walls.
