Re: Campfire Chat
Einar (pronounced Eye-Nar) Tamberskelf is a Mercanian Huscarl, a professional soldier, an 'Axe Dane', described by the ignorant as a 'Barbarian'.  Einar is covered in heavy maille armour, bristling with weapons, and speaks in pidgeon Visic, with a heavy Mercanian accent.  He doesn't say much.

Einar is an ugly brute of a man, bearing several old battle scars, including one on the left cheek.  Tall and thick set, Einar is surprisingly nimble for a man of his size.  He is no mindless thug either, capable of inspiring and leading men into battle, a typical huscarl from Mercania.

Einar is known in the area as a reliable, competent, and no-nonsense warrior, who has served the local Thane in the past.  Einar has brought the party to Ulrikham, knowling that strong arms and steel always find employment here.

Einar is one of the many Mercadians who have 'settled' in Ellesland, in towns like Ulrikham, founded by his kinsfolk many years before.

Copied from bio...

A rather handsome man in good physical shape, with long raven hair and a charming mysterious smile, the only explanation for his celibacy is without a doubt his lifestyle. Or perhaps it is that he's hiding something?
Wearing leather armor and carrying too many weapons to be a simple traveler, including a sword, a crossbow and a dagger, the man is still pretty young, but shows a maturity rarely seen for someone who barely needs to shave. Kind of strange for one with his background but if he says he's just a simple peasant who decided to go out and see the world, it must be true, right?

Indeed, Pierdan is a former blackmsith apprentice, has done some locksmithing as well, and knows a decent bit of swordplay. He's also decent at not being seen or heard, making him an ideal scout. He seems to be the kind of man who knows what he wants yet takes life easily, one day at a time.

Re: Campfire Chat
Ceald is a tall, thin, dark haired man, native of Cornumbria, but who for some reason wants to stay away from the big cities of this country. He is a pleasant companion, but does not talk much, preferring the company of his horse of whom he takes particularly good care. When he does talk, one can notice that even though he speaks Vasic pretty well, it is not his native language. He mentioned a couple of times the fact that he was raised abroad, and came back to his home country for a specific purpose.

Well educated, he shows good dispositions for the use of magic -- but weapons have no secrets for him either and he proves to be a fierce opponent in battle. He avidly seeks opportunities to prove himself, and maybe refine his skills before pursuing greater deeds.

Re: Campfire Chat
Soleajk sits on a log near the campfire chewing on a bit of straw. Shorter and of smaller build than average, he spots a mope of chestnut brown hair worn shoulder length. His smooth youthful face, lightly peppered with freckles, looks almost innocent and carefree. His features are rather ordinary - one might even describe his face as forgettable. His eyes however are a curious grey color, glittering animatedly in the firelight.

Dressed in mismatched leather armor seemingly composed of bits and pieces scrounged from different places, with a slightly tarnished well-worn sword hanging from his belt, he looks like one of those adventurer types who wander the land living by their wits and looking for trouble. Beside him leaning at an angle on the log within easy reach of his hands is a quarterstaff. 2 packs, 1 oilskin and the other leather, lay at his feet.

Sitting side facing the fire to avoid looking into the flames, the man is animatedly regaling the rest of his comrades with a quirky little tale of some past (mis)adventure of his. Occasionally when describing a particularly spectacular scene during one of the many fights in his tall tale, he would remove the straw from his mouth and use it to illustrate the cunning thrusts and feints he used to great effect on his opponent. Punctuated generously with hilarious scenes, witty remarks and bawdy jokes, he tries every theatric in the book to entertain his audience. There is no doubt however that his stories are nothing more than fireside entertainment with as much truth in them as hair on a bald man's pate.

Finally as the embers burn low, Soleajk, still chuckling from his last joke, decides to call it a night. Bidding his comrades good night, he flops down beside the dying campfire, wrapped in his cloak, and promptly falls asleep.

Sitting half-out of the circle is Owyn, who chats easily enough in Elleslandic, but prefers to keep silent and listen when the tongue turns to Visic.

Wearing a mail tunic that reaches almost across his knees, he runs his scarred fingers idly around the rim of his shield, checking for splinters.

Although he is not above telling a few jokes himself, mostly of the bawdy variety, he often turns his head away from the fire for a few minutes, relaxing his eyes in the darkness to better scan the surrounds.

Re: Campfire Chat
Jon came to Ulrikham some six months ago, a tall man in earthy coloured clothes, he kept to himself.

He was seen by some as stand offish but in reality he just didn't want to get involved in the life of the town. He'd been in too many towns like this one and knew that as soon as it was known he was a magic welder he would be run out of town.

All this changed when raiders started hitting the homesteads and farms in the area. He tried to stay out of it trying to convince himself that it was not his concern.

He was in the forest above the town when he heard the sound of battle. He couldn't walk away from it, it was not in his nature. gathering up his spear he headed for the sounds.

There he witnessed raiders trying to get passed a large barbarian swinging and axe. It looked like the man was trying to protect those in the farm house.

With a thrust of his hand his spear found its mark and embedded in the back of one of the men attacking the defender. as his spear sailed through the air he was already running.

As it hit he was just a foot or two behind it as the body hit the ground Jon had gripped the shaft and pulled it free. Turning he stood side by side with the big man crouched low so as to not get inthe big man's swings.

They saw off the raiders that day and marked the first meeting of Jon and Einar.

Now Jon was sitting next to the big barbarian in front of the fire listening to the talk of the town

Re: Campfire Chat
Sigr Gungnir came to the town few weeks after Jon.

He wears the holy symbol of the Norse Gods openly and any sorcery that he displays will be attributed to the being holy power.

He does not take kindly to those who suggest that his gods are false and trying to bring converts from the true faith back to the "right path".

He met the characters shortly after after he healed some townsfolk in a bid to convert them over to the Norse Gods.

Finbar is not too forthcoming with details of the final leg of the trip. "It's hard going, but nothing you can't handle. I'm more worried about what we might meet on the way, it's wild country out there in the high forests".
