I could not seem to find the exact procedure to do this in the FAQ's.  I have read the "If my GM is absent, can I take control of the game?" in the GM FAQ but I was not sure if I contact a moderator directly or if there is some other process.

The game I am in, two of us have co-GM status but our primary GM left the game probably close to two years ago now and managed to delete himself before making one of us the primary GM.  The sole ownership is off.

What is the procedure to request being made the Primary GM?

Use rMail to contact the moderators (by clicking the "To/cc Moderators" box) and give us the details, so that we can take a look at it for you.

I have the same thing but we are all players. Is there a way to bump a player to GM status so he can run it since the main GM disappeared?

No, afraid not.  Under no circumstances will we promote a player to GM for a game.

As much as we'd love to assist players without a GM, we can only promote Co-GMs to game owner due to privacy issues.  We have no way of knowing what conversations have occurred in private or hidden threads (besides reading them all, which is not a precedent we want to set), so if a game owner has not opted to trust someone with Co-GM status then we cannot, in good conscience, give someone else unfettered access to the game.

While our onus is on the constructive and active participants to RPoL we have to consider all sides, even if they no longer visit RPoL due to any reason.

If you are a player and wish to carry on a game when all the GMs have disappeared then your best course of action is to start a new game of your own and invite them to visit it by posting in the game.  Please be mindful of copyright restrictions when copying data from the old game.

Sorry we can't be of more help in such situations, but I think that's the best option for all involved.

Hi all,

My personal character in a game was elevated to owner and primary GM.
I made a secondary PC to be the 'voice of the GM' for the game.
I can't seem to figure out how to elevate this new toon to be the Game Moderator.

I've tried changing the tag to GM but that did nothing.  I think I'm missing something obvious, and some guidance would be great.

I don't want to simply rename my current PC because it would create issues with private messages over the last years of playing.

I know I'm a bit rusty but any guidance you can offer will be warmly welcomed.

I'm just guessing here, but I know there's a way to change what the game considers your "primary" character. Perhaps if you changed your account's primary character to be the one that you want to be the GM?

Great suggestion Sun!  I couldn't seem to find a way to do that.  The Player screen lets me rename them, which leaves me in the same boat.

Not hearing anything else, I finally just did that, renamed it.  THat creates a slew of other minor problems but I'll get through them in time.

Go to the GM Menu, and look under Edit Players.  Down at the bottom is a button marked "Reorder", which will allow you to reset which character is your primary one.

I just did the recently and seem to recall either on edit characters or list there was a square you checked to make a character primary. I may be wrong though.

Update: Sorry, thsi option is only available when addig new characters. First one on list.
