Hello everybody. Long time Roleplayer.  New to this site.

I came to the site looking for some D&D 5th edition. I haven't seen too many games in the Player's Wanted. I checked the GM wanted thread too. None there (on the first page).

I would have thought there would be more 5th edition games. Am I missing something?

Yeah, I don’t know what’s going on with 5E. You can look through the Browse/Search the Games link at the bottom of the main page for games requesting players for 5E. I see there’s currently 9.

About half the games in Wanted-Players are usually freeform, and quite a number of different systems have their players, too. 4E and 5E never seemed to have the same draw here that 3.5 did.

D&D5 doesn't translate terribly well to the play by post nature of this place. The pacing is terrible as soon as any kind of combat breaks out. That's part of why it's not as popular as you might expect here.

5e actually works pretty well in PbP, assuming the GM keeps everything moving. Every now and then you'll see 5e games recruiting in the Wanted: Players thread, but they tend to fill fast.

It looks like there are a couple of 5e games advertising for players today in Wanted - Players.

If you have trouble finding a game you want, you can post in Wanted - GMs. It's kind of a mixed bag, but I've had a couple of very satisfying games that started with posts in Wanted - GMs.
