Re: Undermountain: The first delve.

"What treasure are you talking about?" Elodeir questioned the dwarf, with a raised eyebrow.  As far as he could tell, the golden up the halfling had in her hand, she'd been holding before she was suddenly transported in there, and he hadn't seen any treasure anywhere in the room, anyway.  He could definitely sympathize with being dropped in, just like that - it wasn't much different than how he'd appeared in the dungeon, after all.

Re: Undermountain: The first delve.

Alana just stares at the dwarf for a few moments, before she follows his gaze to the cup in her hand, "YOUR tresaure? This is mine fair and square! I was running for my life from a dragon just a moment ago, and this is the only thing I managed to grab!" she steps away from the area where she arrived, "If you're wanting to go and try your luck, feel free! I have no idea what it was that brought me here, or if it will work again. But you're all welcome to get burned to a crisp if you can get there from here." she says with a smile.

She looks to be no stranger to burns, as a goodly portion of her face sports burn scars. It looks rather like something hot and burning was splashed on her face.

She blinks a few times, then rubs her chin in thought, "Um... where IS here, exactly?"

Re: Undermountain: The first delve.

"Ar eye daft," Borin growls. "We have our locksmith unlock da door we just fought fer entrance to and this hafling succubus er whutever takes him in freeing herself and bringing out da cup. Iffin der be a dragun back der, I shall fight it!" The last is said with a hint of joyous anticipation.

OOC: Borin has made sure that the only way to move for her is back up against the door, or into a spiked shield or axe. But it is obvious he is not worried about his safety, only mad that his locksmith is gone and treasure may have been absconded with.

Re: Undermountain: The first delve.

"Um... I think something is getting lost in translation here. I didn't come from over there on the other side of the door, I came from likely someplace else via magic. I don't think swirling purple tunnels of magic are typical use in common underground doorways. But let me have a look at the door, and I'll see what I can do."

Alana turns and takes out her lockpicks and begins to go to work on the door, while the RPOL dice roller snickers because her player promptly rolls a 1 on the first roll of the game. Thankfully it's only a skill check, so nothing bad ought to happen.

The halfling fiddles with it for quite some time before she seems to get the hang of it.

Re: Undermountain: The first delve.

"Never mind him," Elodeir told the halfling, and shook his head at Borin.  Why must every dwarf I meet be such a stereotype?  Aren't there any nice, clean and friendly dwarves out there, anyway? he wondered with an amused smile.  "Anyway, from what I've been told, we are in Undermountain, below Waterdeep, where I was originally supposed to be.  You're not the first to be pulled here by strange magics, and likely not the last...

I'm Elodeir, by the way.  Nice to meet you.  I hope."

"By Clangeddin Silverbeard, am I the only one who walked in here?" Borin clamors. "And why dunna ya just check da door. I think our locksmith unlocked it. At least I heard a click before ye took him away."

Re: Undermountain: The first delve.

Alana blinks and stops fiddling with the lock, "Well if he unlocked it then why were you bemoaning the fact that you'd just lost your locksmith." the halfling asks, blinking, not understanding the dwarf's strange mood.

"Alana von Krieger, at your service." she says to Elodier, bowing slightly.

"Hmm... Waterdeep, I always wanted to visit there. I'm from Baldur's Gate myself."

Laerwen stayed silently behind everyone, shyly watching events unfold.  She was quite surprised at losing Khidrath while gaining someone else, but at least a new person popping in wasn't quite so shocking anymore.

"The people popping in aren't that crazy about it, either...  I was supposed to be in Waterdeep, after all, not all the way down here..." Elodeir mumbled, and shook his head slowly.  He wondered if the others had gone through safely - and if they were worried about him or not.  They had good cause to be, if nothing else. . .

Alana shrugs and gives the doorknob a try. "Well, let's see what's though here, then that you're all so anxious to get to."

Re: Undermountain: The first delve.

The latch was slick with blood, and a steady drip continued to fall from somewhere above in the alcove that held the door, but Alana did manage to get the door to swing open.

Behind it was... blackness.  The door swung back into the darkness, disappearing into an almost palpable curtain of night.  You heard the chime of a bell somewhere beyond the darkness, but couldn't see anything of the room beyond, and even half of the doorway disappeared into the gloom.

"OK you done got da door open," Borin says. "Lets see iffin we canna get sum light in there." He continues as he hefts his shield and points with his axe into the room. He glances in through the darkness to see what is in his range. As he waits for someone to provide light before he moves in.

"Well, do we go through, or...?" Elodeir asked no-one in particular, clearly not about to go through first, or probably even second or third.

OOC: It's ok.  The aasimar wouldn't help anyway.  I'll give you this much for free... it doesn't look like a normal spell of darkness.  It looks more like a complete absence of any light.

Alana takes out here shortbow and fires an arrow into the darkness, listening for a sound.

Re: Undermountain: The first delve.

The arrow flew straight through the darkness, and you could hear it clatter against walls or floor or both somewhere beyond.  The sound of the clatter wasn't terribly close either.  Apparently a fairly large room lay beyond the darkness.

OOC: Since you've all stopped to listen, a DC 12 Listen check will also give you the sound of a single voice chanting quietly beyond the darkness.

If you don't hear it, don't react to it. :-)

Hearing the projectile clatter, and not be turned to ash, she takes the initiative and plows forward into the cloud of darkness. If there was a mage doing something in there, she could hopefully thwack him one before he did something unpleasant.

05:44, Today: Alana von Krieger rolled 27 using 1d20+9. Listen.
