Re: Zar'Da vs Cathain

Zar'Da appeared in the arena and groaned when he saw his opponent draw out a spiked chain.
"Does everyone use a tripping weapon these days!?" the Dragon Shaman said to himself as he drew out a potion and swigged it back, his muscles surging from the extra strength. Once done he tosses the empty potion bottle to the ground and pulls his crossbow around on it's harness and readies a bolt. Once ready the Shaman closes his eyes and thanks his benefactor for his gifts, his body suddenly enveloped in a blood red aura. With his shield in his left hand and his light crossbow in his right the Drow signals that he is ready.

Re: Zar'Da vs Cathain

Zar'Da watched the woman move off into the shadows as the gong rang. The drow had lived among his vicious race long enough to know he was not built for stealth or fighting a stealth battle so he hunkered down behind his shield and waited for any site of his opponent, his crossbow at the ready.

Re: Zar'Da vs Cathain

OOC: Ok, rules question. Since I had a readied action does that go off before your turn or is that my attack for this round? Nice flavor BTW :)

Re: Zar'Da vs Cathain

Zar'Da fired off his crossbow as soon as the woman rounded the corner. He was surprised at her speed causing him to miss. The Dragon Shaman dropped his crossbow letting it swing backwards on it's sling. With a command his fine sword jumps from it's scabbard into his hand as he pushed forward and slashed at Cathain with a vicious crosscut.

Re: Zar'Da vs Cathain

ooc: I had mistaken your 5ft step for provoking an AoO, that's what the dice-roller shows. I've modified the result to reflect a regular attack.

The bolt glanced off Cathain's breastplate, yet the woman remained impassive, but the sword bit deeply into her side. She hissed from the pain... and smiled. Pain. Yes, she could relate to that feeling, she grinned evilly. This enemy was quite dangerous and she would have to change her tactic - good this would be interesting. Her chain lashed out and struck him and then she turned and tumbled south and out of sight.

Round 3:
[Free] Damage reduction 3/- (taken 3/30pts)
  [Standard] Attack 28. Damage 11pts.
[Move] Tumble to avoid AoO: 30. Move Silently 27, Hide in Shadows 32.

Re: Zar'Da vs Cathain

Zar'Da winced from the hit he took from the spiked chain. When the pale woman disappeared from view once again the drow shook his head and ran off to the center of the map.
"Come now, hide and seek are for younglings." the Shaman said loudly as he stood in the center near the alter.

Re: Zar'Da vs Cathain

Cathain heard Zar'Da's taunting but she wouldn't make the same mistake twice. First she activated the magic in her belt, but it didn't help her injuries much. "Keep moving. Don't stay in one place!" the voice of her former drill sergeant went through her mind and she knew he was right. Like a shadow she hushed from one place to another...

Round 4:

Re: Zar'Da vs Cathain

OOC: Can you take 10 or 20 when trying to see or hear someone? If not, then this is going to be a slow battle because Zar'Da has NO chance of seeing or hearing you.

Re: Zar'Da vs Cathain

ooc: Yes, you can... but not in battle. Take "10" means you take the time and are not being rushed. Take "20" means you do it as often as you need until you 'roll a 20'.
