Penny shrugged and stepped through the portal to her right, coming out to the portal to her left. She did not stop but dashed to the gap between her and the mage, easily jumping over the fall that would spell certain death in molten lava. Stopping she readied her bow, hoping the mage would present himself as a target.

Valas knew he might get hit with an arrow again but figured it was worth a shot, he went through the gate and was farther away from his foe. Yet his eyes went wide when he noticed the arrow knocked...oh oh.

Penny had hoped the mage would run into her field of fire, though not this way. Appearing on the far side, however, didn't get her off course. She fired and hit, well ok, it was just a grazing hit - but he would feel it. The tiefling wondered how much more the half-breed could take and decided to take fate into her own hands, it was Beshaba's will. Quickly she sped around the pool leading into dimensions unknown and suddenly was very close to her oponent. "Boo!" she called out on the last few feet, dropping her bow and tearing her flail from the back.

He then quickly casts a spell and hopes it works, the floor becomes a bit greasy as he smirks. HE hopes she falls down at least....

Penny didn't think much of the spell the mage threw at her, she stood like an oak... until she took a step to get out of the slippery area. Without secure footing she slipped and fell on her, well-padded, rump. Grumbling about Beshaba's luck she took the safe way to leave the slippery area and crawled out of the ensorcelled area.

A sudden feeling of dread overcame the tiefling, she had wanted to give this mage a fair fight, but since she had dared to move into his spell-range all he did was humiliate her. The weapon slipped from her grip and landed on the ground with a solid clank. Her temper flared, as did her nostrils. "You shouldn't have done that." she stated icily. She stood and gingerly walked back through the slippery area to where she had dropped her bow.

I'm afraid no. You roll 1d4, not 1d2 for number of portals jumped.
Then you roll 1d2 for direction of exit left/right or top/bottom.

Yes, that's right. You count 1d4 portals clockwise, then you have a 50% chance of coming out of either side (i.e. roll 1d2).

It's possible to even come out the same place you left. :)
