Re: Tristram vs Belanor

Belanor appeared in his area in the arena, his eyes wide as he looks around at all the spectators. The young elf shook his head and pulled his bow from his shoulder, reached back to his empty quiver muttering something then drew out an arrow.

Re: Tristram vs Belanor

OOC: Just so I'm straight on this, you have a reach of 10' and all squares 10' from you are counted as difficult terrain, which means double move correct?

Re: Tristram vs Belanor

OOC: Yes, but you only count that for squares you enter, meaning if you step out of a threatened area it counts as normal movement (but you still risk an AoO, depending on your actions).

Re: Tristram vs Belanor

As the elf lifts his bow to aim and fire, Tristram whips his chain about. The spikes at the end of the weapon tear through Belanors armor while the elf fires a second arrow hitting Tristram right below the collarbone. Taking a few steps closer the knight twirls the chain about letting it coil around Belanor's leg and threatening to pull him off his feet.

AoO: 28, Damage 14 (Forgot +1 from Knight's challenge)

  Damage Taken: 8
  Damage Dealt: 14

OOC: How do you get an AoO when I fire a bow?

Re: Tristram vs Belanor

OOC: Making a ranged attack provokes an AoO, unless some special effect is in place to prevent it. Also, while holding the bow you don't threaten any squares.

Re: Tristram vs Belanor

OOC: Well crap! It looks like you are going to once again pick apart one of my characters. Now, I can take a standard move without provoking an AoO, right?

Re: Tristram vs Belanor

You can only tumble out of reach DC 15 and avoid the AoO, otherwise no. A popular tactic is to fight defensively and get out of reach.

Re: Tristram vs Belanor

Ok, dude, I guess I'm going to give this one to you. I only have 5 HP's left. I thought you were 3rd level or else I would have bowed out of a fight with you. It was my mistake because I read your bio line wrong. plus, Belanor is NOT a close in fighter so you have him completely beat in the close quarters arena which is what I thought might happen but it is what it is.

Re: Tristram vs Belanor

That's ok; this was a fight on Tristram's terms anyway. Perhaps you could bring your brother with you for a re-match?

For our Chult game I doubt we'll face many knights, so then you should be able to 5' step out of range and fire the bow, but I recommend investing heavily in Tumble if you plan on continue being mainly a ranged fighter. Or getting Anklets of translocation (or similar) to get out of melee range for using the bow without risk of retaliation.
