Orophear starts in the red area, Babau in the blue.

Orophear walked into the arena and arched an eyebrow when he saw his opponent. This was going to be a tough fight. The elf drew out his wand and activated it then discarded it. He then cast a quick spell feeling his strength increase just as he drew forth his fine longsword. Muttering a silent Duskblade pre-battle prayer the elf waited for the gong.

The demonic humanoid appears on the far side of the arena, flexing his long, clawed hands and grinning widely.
As preparation the demon starts a low chant, using the twisted words of the abyss, which is enough to drive men mad. It is clearly words of calling, but the Babau is left alone. Looking somewhat disappointed, it gets ready for the bell to signal the start of the carnage.

OOC: Just a quick clarification on Spell Resistance. If a spell fires multiple rays do I roll for each ray to not work or just once for the spell itself,IE: Scorching Ray?

As soon as the gong sounded Orophear launched into spellcasting. As soon as the spell finished two bolts of scorching firre raced across the arena towards his opponent, the first dissipating as it hit the creature, the second actually scoring a hit. Not waiting to see what happened the elf took off to the north with sword in hand a spell on his lips.

The demon cringes slightly as the ray burns its slimy skin, luckily the other ray is stopped by its powerful magical defences. Uttering a few words in abyssal, the demon disappears from sight in a puff of sulphuric smoke.

OOC: Just the usual cover. I mean, the shelves are high, so if you are standing right below him it might well expand to full cover, but right now it isn't. Babau isn't prone, so you should be able to reach some part of a square he occupies.

Orophear thought he heard something nearby but shook it off and continued to stalk towards where he last saw the demon.

Ok, so that was an epic fail. I will adjust my last turn appropriately.

The demon slides across the top of the shelf and drops down on the unsuspecting elf. The babau slashes viciously with its clawed hand, tearing through armor, skin, and flesh with ease. It grins and licks the blood off its claws.

Orophear grunted as the slimy claws raked his flesh. The elf decided to stand his ground and take the fight to the monster for now. His first strike was true. As soon as the blade hit flesh he uttered a trigger word and he felt the magic of his spell take a small bit of his life force and channel it into his sword turning the blade a blood red. The sword stuck just enough that he was off balance and just missed his second hit.

OOC: A few details. The demon has DR 10, wich is enough to absorb the weapon damage. I assume the spell is neg energy? If so the demon takes full damage from it. Also, the slime covering the demon causes 1d8 damage any weapon touching it(rolled 5 and 2) unless the weapon succeeds on a DC18 reflex save (magic weapons only). In your case you will have to roll twice.

The demon hisses as the blade pierces the slimy skin, although the wound closes immediately the negative energy discharge hurts. The second strike is blocked by an iron-hard forearm. There are wisps of smoke coming from the blade where it struck, the acidic slime risking to damage the metal weapon. Still, the demon does not to seem too worried about the inflicted wounds, and with wicked determination it lashes out with its arms, swinging high only to scrape against armor, but the follow up strike with the left hand finds its way past the guard, letting the claws sink deep into the armpit of the elf. As his enemy pulls away the demon juts its head forward, clamping powerful jaws around the off hand.
